KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 is looking at a 584 - 585 crore nett close across India on all versions which is the best total this year if we count all versions. The record was with CHHAAVA which did a total of 563 crore nett with 548 crore in Hindi and 15 crore net in others.

Here, KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 has done 201 crore nett in Hindi and 383 crore nett elsewhere. The film is the second highest grosser for the Kannada film industry after KGF - CHAPTER 2 while if we count all South films, it is number six with PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE, BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION, KGF - CHAPTER 2, RRR and KALKI 2898 AD being bigger. If we bring films from the Hindi film industry into it, then only JAWAN is bigger on all versions making KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 the seventh highest grosser ever in India.

The film grossed around $12.50 million in overseas giving it a total of 110 crore which means a worldwide total of around 818 crore. The worldwide figures for fourteen days in all versions are around 643 crore with a 98 crore GROSS contribution from overseas and 545 crore GROSS from India.

KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 (Hindi) has emerged a SUPER HIT film as it finally reached the 200 crore nett mark at the end of its sixth week. It is looking to end its business on 202 crore nett. The film did not look like getting to 200 crore nett but it did very well in its third and fourth weeks over the Diwali period.

The Diwali releases did not fare as well, as they could have over the festival, in Mumbai circuit be it Maharashtra or Gujarat and this really benefited KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 as it did phenomenally well in the circuit in week three and week four. This fact can be illustrated by the collections as in week 3 and week 4 Mumbai circuit collected 20 crore nett while the collections in Delhi/UP were only 4.40 crore nett. 

The film has beaten the collections of SAIYAARA in Mumbai circuit as it finishes with a 92 crore nett total compared to the 89 crore nett of SAIYAARA. The story is different in the rest of the circuits with SAIYAARA being far ahead. The collections in Delhi/UP are less than half of SAIYAARA. The film has done very well to get to 200 crore nett from the initial it took.

The expectations within the industry were higher pre release but that sequel factor and huge likability of the first film did not translate into a great initial. This is probably because the film was nothing like a BAAHUBALI or PUSHPA on satellite and could not reach the wider audience. KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 has turned out out to be a film for the classes outside Mumbai circuit and its this circuit which has made the film a big HIT.

KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 (Hindi) had a good weekend with collections of 12 crore nett over its third weekend which takes the film to 166 crore nett till now. There is a 60% plus drop from the previous weekend but this is pretty good as its the weekend before Diwali and that growth was never going to happen like normal. The collections went up only 10-15% on Saturday which kills the weekend.

Despite the weaker trend, the film still has chance to make up ground as Maharashtra collects well over on Diwali and even on Puja and then Gujarat takes off on the big national holiday. Both these places are doing well now for the film. The business in Mumbai circuit should be excellent over the holiday period which should mean the drop over the week is less than the weekend.

There will be the new releases but both those films could be lesser in Mumbai circuit giving KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 a chance to compete. The film still has an outside chance of emerging a SUPER HIT film in Hindi and the next 5-10 days will make it clear.

KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 (Hindi) held up well in the second week collected a little over 50 crore nett dropping a little over 50% from the first week as Mumbai circuit continues to record superb collections. It is now within touching distance of 70 crore nett in the circuit. This makes it the third best performing circuit after its home market Mysore/Karnataka and Nizam/Andhra.

Mumbai is more than Tamil Nadu and Kerala but the real story for the film could have been if Delhi/UP went better than these circuits. Then, this film would be collecting at a different level as not only Delhi/UP would be higher but many other circuits would have also propelled the Hindi version total. Now the film has done well on the strength of Maharashtra and proved a HIT film with a good hold looking certain on the third Friday due to to no new competition. The other circuits have also held well in week two but its at lower levels.

The total collections of the film nearly 154 crore nett and by the end of the third weekend it should cross the likes of HOUSEFULL 5, SITAARE ZAMEEN PAR and RAID 2. The Diwali period will tell if its crosses the animation film MAHAVATAR NARSIMHA.

KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 has collected 450 crore nett plus across India on all languages and versions. This makes it the fifth highest grossing film in India from the South after PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE, BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION, KGF - CHAPTER 2, RRR and KALKI 2898 AD. The film should comfortably cross the 500 crore nett mark by the end of its run.

The business in Hindi as not as strong as the films mentioned above but the South India numbers are outstanding especially considering the film is from the Kannada industry which can be considered the weakest down there as far as break outs even into other South markets are concerned. The performance is outstanding in Mysore/Karnataka as the makers managed to push through higher ticket pricing despite the state government setting a level for pricing.

The film has collected a little over $11 million overseas which is an outstanding number for a Kannada film but as the Hindi version did not fire at all. The business is not at the level that was expected in the various markets. KGF - CHAPTER 2 had worked big in Hindi with $9 million but KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 will hardly do $1 million.

The film has seen the film get good benefit of these discounted Tuesday rates, be it in first week or second week.

The second week total is almost 44 crore nett and with this jump on Tuesday, it has a shot at crossing the 50 crore nett mark in week making it the third film this year to do so. The film still has so so collections in the North, Central (except CP Berar) and Eastern belts (except Odisha). It has turned out to be a Mumbai circuit and South India film but today, South is huge with its multiple language releases.

The second week total is 38 crore nett so far in four days and the week is looking to be around 48-50 crore nett. It is a good number and third best of the year.

KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 is now the highest grossing film of the year in Odisha and despite being well short in other circuits, it has managed this feat in the Eastern state. This is mainly because the South films dubbed in Hindi tend to outperform in Odisha and this one seems to have strong appreciation as far as this circuit is concerned.

In circuits like Mumbai and CP Berar, the film could challenge the numbers of SAIYAARA which was a 300 crore nett plus film. It should get 80 crore nett plus in Mumbai but remains to be seen if it can reach the 88 crore nett of SAIYAARA.

KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 (Hindi) had a good second weekend with collections of 34.25 crore nett as Saturday saw huge growth but Sunday was flat. The pre Diwali period is there and that could be the reason that Sunday could not grow much. It was just not KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 but the story with all the Hindi releases.

The film continues to be excellent in Mumbai, CP Berar and Odisha while other circuits are doing decent business. The target for the film is to hit 50 crore nett for the second week which only CHHAAVA and SAIYAARA have managed this year. But both these films were way ahead at over 100 crore nett. The 50 crore nett mark will not be easy and the discounted Tuesday will have to really help.

The all India collections are over 400 crore nett and will be standing at around 420 crore nett thanks to extraordinary business in Mysore/Karnataka. The South circuits are also very good. The lower performance has come in core Hindi circuits. So, despite these huge numbers, the heavily populated states like Rajasthan, UP and Bihar have not really come on board.

KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 showed outstanding growth on its second Saturday as it collected 13.75 crore nett which more than double the previous day making the weekend stand at around 20.50 crore nett. So, its a comfortable 30 crore nett weekend with a chance to be even 35 crore nett though growth can be muted on Sunday due to this huge jump on Saturday.

The jump came across the board and now the film stands at around 123.50 crore nett. It could end up with around 150 crore nett after two weeks. The appreciation remains less in places like Delhi, Punjab and Rajasthan but the likes of Maharashtra and Odisha are covering. Odisha stands at 5 crore nett so far which is only behind CHHAAVA at 6 crore nett and SAIYAARA at 5.50 crore nett. KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 is sure to beat both films and become the number one film of the year in this circuit.

SUNNY SANSKARI KI TULSI KUMARI grossed 3.65 crore nett apprx on its second Saturday which now takes the film to 48 crore nett in ten days. The second Friday was fair but the film could not really jump as it should on Saturday. Going by the growth of KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1, it was a big Saturday for business and Sunday could well be showing lesser jumps. However, the film did not really take benefit of the Saturday.

SUNNY SANSKARI KI TULSI KUMARI managed to find appreciation in Maharashtra to keep it going but here it is nowhere which is leading to the film just plugging along. Sunday should see the film surpassing 50 crore nett but this target should have been reached much earlier.

KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 (Hindi) had a strong hold on its second Friday as it collected a little more than the previous day. The film is now a bonafide HIT in Hindi though the film is not as big as its in the southern states. The film is best in Mysore/Karnataka and then Kerala followed by Tamil Nadu and the Nizam/Andhra with Hindi being weakest but it is still a HIT.

The film has scored very well in Maharashtra as Mumbai circuit could go over the 75 crore nett mark driven heavily by Maharashtra. Another Maharashtra dominated circuit like CP Berar can go to 12-13 crore nett which will be 50% more than RAID 2. The issue for the film is in North India as a big circuit like Delhi/UP is likely to fall short of 25 crore nett.

The business in Delhi NCR is not surprising but the low numbers in UP means the mass audiences in the North have not taken to it. The overall total for the film stands at almost 110 crore nett which recent release JOLLY LLB 3 crossed in nine days. The film can target the 175 crore nett though will need collections over Diwali to get there. The growth on Saturday should be excellent.

KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 (Hindi) was sustained very well on Wednesday as it collected 7.50 crore nett which is around 10% down from the Monday and this has come after the discounted Tuesday. This is a solid trend and the film is now set for a good run until Diwali the very least and it could collect post Diwali as well.

The collection till date is 96.50 crore nett which is a good collection for the first seven days comfortably beating RAID, SITAARE ZAMEEN PAR and the recent, Jolly LLB 3. The first KANTARA in 2022 finished a little short of 80 crore nett and that has been beaten comfortably here with plenty more to come.

The film has also crossed the 300 crore nett mark on all versions as collections are around 310 crore nett after 7 days. Mysore/Karnataka collected apprx 100 crore nett including the Hindi version in seven days. Despite the circuit being dominated by the original Kannada version of the film, the Hindi version is also scoring very well in Mysore.

KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 (Hindi) had a good extended first of 103.50 crore nett and the film has held well over the weekdays to emerge a HIT film in Hindi. The expectations for the film to emerge more than HIT were based on how some of the other South films, which broke out in part one, did in the second part.

Those films had gone 5 or more time the first part while it may just be double but if we take that aside then this film getting over 150 crore nett is a positive as it does not look that mass juggernaut film. It has done well in Maharashtra for cultural appeal while in the most of the circuits, its behaved more like a film for the classes.

Mumbai circuit is outstanding as its almost 50 crore nett over the first eight days. Its no match for CHHAAVA but the first week numbers are very similar to SAIYAARA and it could actually have higher numbers in the final run in Mumbai circuit. Delhi/UP and East Punjab are the let downs but there is always a chance of that with a South film. The film is excellent in its South Indian languages in the South and those collections will be updated later.

The film got solid benefit of the discounted Tuesday and now the collections stand at 89 crore nett which is a good collection for this film and more importantly, it is sustaining well.

If we take the first seven days, the film will be ahead of films like RAID 2 and SITAARE ZAMEEN PAR and it will be the fifth best first week (7 Days) of the year after CHHAAVA, SAIYAARA, WAR 2 and HOUSEFULL 5. The second Friday should confirm the HIT status of the film and it is about Maharashtra holding as other main areas are on the lower side and you cant have Maharashtra showing drops and joining them.

KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 (Hindi) is set to emerge a HIT as collections hold up well on Monday dropping around 25% from the Friday. The film collected around 8.25 crore nett which takes the film to 78.25 crore nett and it can get a good jump on Tuesday due to the cheap rates.

The week is probably heading for a 100 crore nett plus total which is a good number and then it remains to be seen how it goes from there. The 200 crore nett mark is probably tough but the film can have a shot at 175 crore nett.

When the year began, WAR 2 and KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 were probably expected to be the big films of the year and both look like heading for similar totals while CHHAAVA and SAIYAARA emerged as the biggest films of 2015.

KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 will get away with it as compared to WAR 2 as it may not have done as expected but eventually for its budget, these numbers in Hindi are very good and it has sustained. The film has seen strong holds in the South also especially its home market of Mysore/Karnataka which looks on a huge run.

KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 (Hindi) has scored a good extended weekend of almost 70 crore nett and the trend is also good with Saturday and Sunday being ahead of the first day. The business is a little lopsided with Maharashtra and other pockets where south dubbed films being excellent while others range from good to average.

The film is has collected over 31 crore nett in Mumbai circuit over the four days but business in Delhi/UP is just average at 11 crore nett. It is no surprise that NCR is less but UP side has also not given the performance it should since KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 is a mass film. The film had some hype mainly within the industry and trade as KANTARA (2022) was a much appreciated film but this did not really materialize with the public outside Maharashtra.

The comparisons were films like BAAHUBALI, KGF and PUSHPA but those films really broke out across the country be at the box office or on satellite post release which led to the second parts breaking records. This has not been the case for KANTARA and its reflected in the box office results. The film has done much better in Maharashtra and South (regional versions) which sort of tells about its appeal. The figures from South will be updated later though collections look set to be in around 215 crore nett on all versions.

Now its about the Monday and after and KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 should do well enough especially in Maharashtra, CP Berar and Odisha for the film to be a HIT but collections can be lacking in many circuits.

KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 collected 214 crore nett plus across the country in all versions with South India and Maharashtra doing fantastic business. North India was on the weaker side while East and Central were good. These numbers are crazy for a Kannada film and only second to KGF - CHAPTER 2 for that film industry.

KGF - CHAPTER 2 had a 190 crore nett apprx in Hindi alone in four days. So, that film is at a different level and this the main difference. KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 has worked at the box office but its probably not worked at a level that was expected outside Maharashtra and South India. The craze of the other big South films was not there in the core Hindi circuits and that is reflected in the collections.

The film picked up $6.25 million overseas which is also excellent but various distributors picked up the film at very high prices despite Kannada films not having much of a market in Overseas. Again, here the film would have been dependent on Hindi to go on a run to if the distributors were to reach the levels needed but Hindi has not performed at all in Overseas. Telugu and Kannada have scored but these don't run long and fizzle out quick barring some rare exceptions. KGF - CHAPTER 2 scored very well in Hindi in Overseas with $9 million. KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 is unlikely to even reach $2 million in Hindi going by the initial numbers.

The worldwide figures for four days in all versions are around 312 crore with a 55 crore GROSS contribution from overseas and 257 crore GROSS from India.

KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 did very well on its third day as collections jumped 70% from the previous day and collected in the 19 crore nett range. The film has a total of 48 crore nett so far in three days and can comfortably target a 70 crore nett plus weekend. The target was to reach the day one number but it managed to go past the first day number.

The film is doing excellent business in the Maharashtra belt as the film opened to strong numbers here and even  the third day has gone past the first day. The jump was huge in Mumbai circuit as the film almost doubled its collections. CP Berar and Odisha also are doing fantastic business with the latter on course to be the best of 2025. Basically the out performance is in areas where traditionally the dubbed South films have always done best.

The business is weaker in the North but the film can get away with that if the Mumbai area can sustain. The film has a shot at good growth on Sunday as mass pockets can jump and if they do, then the film can set itself up for the weekdays. It will have a good run till Diwali and is potentially a HIT film in Hindi.

KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 saw a drop in business on the second day much on the similar line to SUNNY SANSKARI KI TULSI KUMARI as it collected 11.25 crore nett. This takes the two day number to 29 crore nett which is good and the film is sure to come out for a good weekend as long as the expected weekend growth comes.

The film will make huge gains on Saturday which can take the film back up to its day one figure but Sunday is more important because if the film can get some good growth on Sunday it would set it self for the weekdays. These South dubbed films, which collec,t have appeal in areas which tend to jump on Sunday. So, the potential is there.

The film remains strong in Maharashtra and is good in most other parts expect North India which is on the lower side and also showed falls which are higher than the other circuits. The look of the film is probably coming in the way in Delhi/UP and East Punjab and its not commercial like a PUSHPA or KGF. Still, the film has chances of emerging a winner in the Hindi belts and there are solid green shots on day two in markets like CP Berar and CI with minimal drops.

Odisha is outstanding and it can become the top film of 2025 if it holds well on Monday in this circuit. The all India collections in all versions were around 58-59 crore nett on day 1 as the film has done well in all southern markets especially Mysore/Karnataka and Nizam/Andhra. The second day will be around 42-43 crore for a two day total of over 100 crore nett.

KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 had a good opening day in Hindi as it collected 17.75-18 crore nett with Mumbai circuit doing very well. It recorded the second best opening day number of the year after CHHAAVA and ahead of WAR 2, SIKANDAR and SAIYAARA in this circuit. This is despite the film having lower collections in Gujarat due to the end of Navratri and when this is over, it should gain in this circuit.

The film had higher expectations mainly; the first film saw huge appreciation as it went from 1 crore plus opening to almost 80 crore nett and other films from the South which had broken out like this went on to open huge in their second parts. The expectations for the Hindi version were mainly because of this but KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 is not that larger than life hero driven commercial cinema like KGF or PUSHPA. So, it probably does not have as wide audience in the core Hindi circuits as those films and still remains a more word of mouth films especially outside Maharashtra.

Despite these expectations, this number is still good for a dubbed film from the South and it should do well from here. There will be a drop on Friday but the film should come back over the weekend and the target will be to cross the 20 crore nett mark on Sunday. The film looked like it could have got to 20 crore nett on the first day but while Maharashtra got that huge holiday push, the other places were more limited as to how far they went. The collections were extraordinary in the home market of Mysore/Karnataka while the Telugu version also did well in Nizam/Andhra. But the real box office glory in India is all about the Hindi markets and KANTARA: A LEGEND – CHAPTER 1 has a chance to make a mark here.

The number is also better than it looks as there is very limited contribution from the South. So, the market is actually smaller than the original Hindi film. In terms of dubbed South films, it is the seventh best ever collections after PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE, KGF - CHAPTER 2, BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION, KALKI 2898 AD, RRR and 2.0. SAAHO and ADIPURUSH are taken as bilingual but if included, they would be higher as well.
