ADIPURUSH is nearing the end of its run in just three weeks with the numbers till date standing at around 128.50 crore nett. The fact that it will only collect 35 crore nett post its first weekend pretty much tells the story of the film.
The collections in the third will just about be 2 crore nett but on the other hand it is the second highest Hindi grosser of the year also after PATHAAN. The business in Odisha will be in the same range as BRAHMASTRA and this is despite this huge crash in business.
The all India business of the film will be 250 crore nett and considering the massive release in multiple languages, it should have done better even though the 250 crore nett number is a solid number.
The collections ADIPURUSH till date are as follows.
Week One - 1,14,81,00,000
Week Two - 12,12,00,000 apprx
Week Three - 1,50,00,000 apprx (4 days)
TOTAL - 1,28,43,00,000 apprx

ADIPURUSH collected under 1 crore nett on its second Tuesday which takes the film to 125 crore nett plus. The second week of the film will be a little over 12 crore nett as it takes a hit on Thursday with the release of SATYAPREM KI KATHA and many regional films.
There are solid releases this week in Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu which will end the run of ADIPURUSH not just in Hindi but in all formats. Its looking at a lifetime of 130 crore nett in Hindi and a 250 crore nett in all formats. This is less than SAAHO, whether in Hindi or outside.
The business in Mumbai should cross 40 crore nett while Delhi/UP should cross 35 crore nett. Nizam/Andhra will do 110 crore nett in all formats including the Hindi version.
The collections ADIPURUSH till date are as follows.
Week One - 1,14,81,00,000 apprx

ADIPURUSH again went down more than it should on its second Monday after a more a stable weekend. The film collected 1 crore nett on its second Monday and its a 50% drop from the second Friday when it should be around 30-35%. This takes the collections of the film to 10 crore nett in week two and 125 crore nett in overall collections.
The second week will collect around 12.50 crore nett which will be a 90% plus drop from the first week and that pretty much tells the story of the film. The final number of the film would not look too bad if the film had not opened so well. The expectations of the film rose with the initial of the film.
The film has underperformed in Mumbai and Bihar though the Ramayana factor has helped the film hugely in the North as both perform better compared to Mumbai. The film is not likely to add much from here and maybe another 8-9 crore nett,

ADIPURUSH collected a dull 9 crore nett over its second weekend. Despite these being poor collections, it is actually more than expected as the way it was going down over the weekdays, it looked like in the second week, having double digit collections would be hard.
Generally the circuit numbers are pretty reasonable for the first week as it got the weekend in. In Odisha, it will be among the top ten grossers ever in Hindi but that is because these Telugu actors are stars in the state and from the Hindi circuits it has always done well for the South actors in action films from the days of Rajinikanth.
The film has underperformed in Mumbai and Bihar though the Ramayana factor has helped the film hugely in the North as both performed better compared to Mumbai. The film is not likely to add much from here and maybe another 10 crore nett.
The collections ADIPURUSH till date are as follows.
Week One - 1,14,81,00,000 apprx
Friday - 2,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 3,75,00,000 apprx
Second Weekend - 9,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 1,23,81,00,000 apprx
----------------------------------------
ADIPURUSH has reached 237 crore nett across India and will finish up with a final total of 250 crore nett plus. The collections are going to fall below SAAHO across the board. It has been a downward spiral all over since the first Monday though the second weekend was a little respite for the film as collections did grow.
The worldwide business of the film is 325 crore plus and may just reach the 350 crore mark which is actually reasonable but if you take the first weekend then the 400 crore mark should have been a cakewalk for the film. The film has not performed in Overseas with the Telugu version not doing well in North America which was a must. The Hindi version will do near $2.5 million which is better comparatively as there is no face value for this audience. On top of it, a large chunk of the audience is Muslim who are unlikely to come.
The figures from India are as follows and the collections from the South markets do not count the Hindi version so its a like to like comparison for Hindi films. The Nizam/Andhra figure does not include Hindi and collections from Marathawada.
Hindi - 1,23,75,00,000 apprx (NOTE - First weekend was 95.58 crore)
Nizam / Andhra - 94,00,000 apprx
Karnataka - 11,50,00,000 apprx
Tamil Nadu - 4,50,00,000 apprx
Kerala - 1.25,00,000 apprx
Hindi Circuits (Telugu, Tamil) - 2,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 2,37,00,00,000 apprx
The Overseas and worldwide collections of the film are as follows.
India - 280 cr (237 nett)
Overseas - 45.50 cr ($5.5m) (Note - First weekend was $4.52 million)
TOTAL - 325.50 crore

ADIPURUSH saw a first week of 123 crore nett as collections witnessed insane falls all through weekdays with film dropping 30% or more on each day. It was no different on the last day of the week. The collections on Thursday are already more than 90% down from the first day. The mass circuits dominated by smaller multiplexes and single screens are down even more.
There were cheaper tickets available on Thursday but that does not help really help collections but admits would have been steady despite the drop in collections. The film, which looked to be heading for a comfortable 150 crore nett on Saturday, will now fall well short of the mark.
The first week collections are the second highest of 2023 but that hardly matters when the film is not going to add much more. The film has been made on a huge budget of 400 crore inclusive of everything. As it has recoveries form Hindi and South, it will get way with it from a commercial point of view. This is despite total rejection of the film everywhere though Hyderabad city can be said to better than rest.
The first week collections of the film are as follows.
Friday - 35,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 35,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 35,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 7,75,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 4,75,00,000 apprx
Wednesday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
Thursday - 2,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 1,23,25,00,000 apprx
------------------------------------
ADIPURUSH managed to stop the rot as the film did not see and another huge drop as it managed to collect 2 crore nett. It looked the film could have competing with ZARA HATKE ZARA BACHKE for the top collecting film this weekend the way it was going over the weekdays. But the second Friday saw a more normal trend.
This does not really matter much for the film as the battle was lost on Monday However, there should be some collections now in week two when it looked a total goner. The film has actually scored some decent totals in a couple of circuits but that is all down to the initial numbers.
The second Friday has stopped the capitulation but with such rejection for the film, it remains to be seen if the film can get some good weekend growth as a better trend on second Friday is no good if the film is unable to grow much over the weekend.
The collections ADIPURUSH till date are as follows.
Friday - 35,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 35,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 35,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 7,75,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 4,75,00,000 apprx
Wednesday - 3,25,00,000 apprx
Thursday - 2,50,00,000 apprx

The freefall of ADIPURUSH's collections continued on Wednesday as the film saw another 30-35% drop with collections in the 3-3.25 crore nett range. If this rout continues for the next few days, the film will easily be under 10 crore nett for the second week. The five day numbers of the film are a little under 120 crore nett and its looking a 122 crore nett first week for the film.
The mass areas are are falling at a different level altogether from where they started. The content is rejected but the excessive fall in collections is also to do with the sentiment against the film. If the film was not based on Ramayana and content is rejected like this, the collections would have come down but not like this. Also when a film based on religious goes wrong, you have the external factors like people who may not even have watched but still going full out against the film.
Despite the huge budget and total rejection of the film it will be saved from becoming an epic disaster like BOMBAY VELET, ZERO or 83 as it has revenue from Hindi and Telugu. If it was Hindi alone it would have become the grandmother of all disasters but then the budget would also probably be not hitting 400 crore.
The six day collections of the film are as follows.
Friday - 35,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 35,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 35,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 7,75,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 4,75,00,000 apprx

ADIPURUSH saw another huge dip on Tuesday as the film goes on a huge downward spiral. The film went down another 35% to collect around 4.75-5 crore nett on its first Tuesday. There is a huge sentiment against the film which has never seen before and as its a film based on religion, the backlash has that extra force.
There were some cinemas yesterday in smaller areas reporting zero collections which means they have just taken the film out as they just don't want to be seen playing the film where the majority is a conservative Hindu population. The total collections of the film in five days are 117 crore nett and its likely to be a 123-125 crore nett week one. The film is likely to have most of its collections in the bigger multiplexes soon. It may have started better outside but now these cinemas are on a downward spiral which has probably never been seen before.
Despite the huge budget and total rejection of the film, it will be saved from becoming an epic disaster like a BOMBAY VELVET, ZERO or 83 as it has revenue from Hindi and Telugu. If it was Hindi alone, it would have become the grandmother of all disasters but then the budget would also probably be not hitting 400 crore.

ADIPURUSH saw collections come down heavily on Monday with a drop of around 78% but it was pretty much coming for the film due to the trend of the weekend. The inability for Sunday to push higher sort of numbers spelt it out for the film. The film has also dropped 78% from Sunday and when a film like BRAHMASTRA takes a 65% drop from Sunday, it was on the cards that even a 70% drop for ADIPURUSH would be a miracle. The collections were 7.75 crore nett on Monday taking the film to nearly 113 crore nett.
It is possible for a film to hold when it fails to jump on Sunday but that is when there are capacity issues and there was no such case here. The drop of the film is across the board with the centres which were better on the first day also falling more. The better holds have actually come in the bigger multiplexes while others have seen bigger drops.
The negativity and flak for this film has been at another level and probably never seen before. But that is the risk you take when you make a religious type of film and its different from the image that people have of that time. There are many films that have negativity and pull through but they are normally the regular commercial films which are not playing with sentiments of the audience and are viewed as entertainment.
Here the audiences (Hindi belts) came to see Ramayana but got to see a completely different Ramayana which they did not take too kindly at all. Basically the plus point which got the audience in turned out to be the biggest negative of the film post release.
The film has faced outright rejection but its not all doom and gloom as the industry was thirsting for audiences to come to theatres and they did in numbers for this film which shows theatrical business is alive. The rejection is a downer but it could have been much much worse if the film did not get the big weekend numbers in.
There is a also a big drop in Telugu as well but its not as bad as the Hindi version as maybe there many people are coming for the star as compared to the Hindi audiences who are came for the film which was just not to their liking.
The four day collections of the film are as follows.
Friday - 35,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 35,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 35,00,00,000 apprx
Monday - 7,75,00,000 apprx

ADIPURUSH recorded a very strong first weekend with collections over 100 crore nett at around 105 crore nett but the business on Sunday did not push up. There is a huge issue of the presentation and correctness of the film as far as Ramayana goes. This is probably affecting the collections in mass areas where its a conservative audience and anything different from perceived notions is not taken too well.
There was no growth on Saturday but that is fine but Sunday should have done better. However, the mass circuits were just 10-15% up on Saturday and recovering to day one levels while the bigger circuits were flat or minor falls. The Sunday number does make it harder for the film over the weekdays but the huge plus is the numbers it has put up already.
The weekend is far above expectations and all circuits have done well. The Gujarat and Rajasthan areas have been affected by this Biparjoy cyclone with the former on Friday and the latter on Saturday but Gujarat made ground on Saturday and Rajasthan should have done same on Sunday.
The Hindi belt is seeing huge negativity for the film and that is reflected in the collections on Sunday with mass areas not up to the mark. So its pretty certain that a fall is coming on Monday and what the level of the fall is remains to be seen. The Nizam/Andhra pocket has done very well and even the Hindi version saw growth on Sunday in that region. The region will see weekend collections in the 75-80 crore nett range which is probably second to RRR only post the pandemic and better than PUSHPA: THE RISE - PART 01. The backlash to film seems less here as against the Hindi areas going by the trend in collections.
Irrespective of all that, its a huge weekend for exhibitors across the country as ADIPURUSH will have a 190 crore nett plus total over the weekend but if the Hindi version could have even put up growth of 10-15% on Sunday it would give more confidence for the days to come.
The three day collections of the film are as follows.
Friday - 35,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 35,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 35,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 1,05,00,00,000 apprx
----------------------------------
ADIPURUSH has collected a huge 192 crore nett across India over its first weekend and $5 million overseas driven by collections in North America. The Hindi version of the film is over $1.75 million which is pretty good as it has limited face value. Also, there is a huge Muslim audience for the Hindi films in overseas and they are likely to avoid the film.
The worldwide gross of the film is 275 crore which is another huge number though it is short of RRR and KGF - CHAPTER 2 which had similar type of release. It is also less than PATHAAN which gathered up 330 crore in just the Hindi language. Post pandemic, this the fourth best number for an Indian film. The Telugu market overseas is much less than the Tamil market. So, the overseas numbers are less unless its breakout films like BAAHUBALI or RRR.
The figures from India are as follows and the collections from the South markets do not count the Hindi version; so, its a like to like comparison for Hindi films. The Nizam/Andhra figure does not include Hindi and collections from Marathawada.
Hindi - 1,05,00,00,000 apprx
Nizam/Andhra - 71,50,00,000 apprx
Karnataka - 9,50,00,000 apprx
Tamil Nadu - 3,75,00,000 apprx
Kerala - 1,25,00,000 apprx
Hindi Circuits (Telugu, Tamil) - 1,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 1,92,50,00,000 apprx
The Overseas and worldwide collections of the film are as follows.
India - 234 cr (192.50 nett)
Overseas - 41.50 cr ($5m)
TOTAL - 276.50 crore

ADIPURUSH scored another good day with collections similar to the first day as Mumbai made gains while Delhi/UP was flat and most other circuits made minor losses. The drops mainly came in single screens of around 10-15%. The gain in Mumbai is because on Friday, the Gujarat area especially Saurashtra area was hit by a cyclone which meant final collections came in lower but there was recovery on Saturday. The multiplexes, be it nationals or non nationals, were flat or made minor gains on Saturday.
Irrespective of what is being said the collections are very good and its going to cross the business of KISI KA BHAI KISI KI JAAN, which had an Eid weekend, in just 3 days. Obviously it remains to be seen what happens over the next few days but the fact that a film can put up these numbers in the box office scenario today with this sort of negativity is a good news for theatrical business.
Surprisingly, the film has held well in Nizam/Andhra and although the collections are down to 20 crore nett from 36 crore nett, this is very good trend for this circuit. The release structure is such that day two has less cinemas but if we look at some like to like collections from day one to day two its around 30-35% drop. This is better than a lot of big Telugu films released over the last two years.
The two day collections of the film are as follows.
Friday - 35,00,00,000
Saturday - 35,00,00,000
TOTAL - 70,00,00,000 apprx
The all India collections of the film look to be 76 crore nett on Friday and 59 crore nett on Saturday for a two day total of 135 crore nett.

ADIPURUSH (Hindi) took a huge opening on its first day with outstanding collections across all Hindi circuits. It has managed to collect 36-36.50 crore nett which is the third best opening post pandemic and will be among the top ten openings ever for a Hindi film. These numbers are coming with a limited South release due to the regional versions.
The number has gone well over expectations as the momentum it picked up on advance bookings on Wednesday continued all through the first day. The final circuit numbers will come later but Mumbai seems to be around 11.50 crore nett giving a value for North Karnataka which is with the South distributors while Delhi/UP will be around 8 crore nett. East Punjab will do around 3.25 crore nett. The latter is extraordinary with the circuit not doing that well for a film with a South hero but Ramayana is huge in the North and that is what is helping the film.
The collections of the film also look strong in the East with Odisha pushing the film and out performing despite a Telugu version also running there. The numbers of the film have really been pushed by the Hindu crowd as on paper the figures from UP look extraordinary. But Muslim centres are less and its the same with Bihar where collections are very good but again Muslim centres have underperformed. Basically, the film has scored heavily where THE KERALA STORY did well.
The film does have negativity and as its a religious film, this negativity goes to another level but the box office is doing fantastically well and collections at multiplexes are strong again on Saturday. With heavy collections at mass centres on day one, they will probably drop on Saturday but that is pretty much normal. At the end of the day, the box office is going through rough times and this film is much needed relief especially for the single screen exhibitors where the film has done exceedingly well.
-------------------------------
ADIPURUSH collected 76 crore nett across India in all formats which is probably the fourth highest opening across India behind the big three of KGF - CHAPTER 2, RRR and BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION which are all in the vicinity of the 100 crore nett mark.
At the end of the day the film fared better in Hindi circuits while the collections in South were expected to be higher. Although Nizam/Andhra has done very well, the number was expected to be higher. As far as Hindi circuits are concerned, the film fared better than BRAHMASTRA in all the circuits with a big gap in Delhi/UP.
Below are the collections of ADIPURUSH from all the circuits across India in all formats and the collections from Hindi circuits include the Telugu version. The figures from Mumbai, Delhi/UP and Nizam/Andhra are apprx while others are final collections.
Mumbai - 11,00,00,000 apprx
Delhi/UP - 7,75,00,000 apprx
