'Nobody Has Right To Hurt Sentiments': Union Minister On 'Adipurush' Row
Box Office India Trade Network

ADIPURUSH recorded a very strong first weekend with collections over 100 crore nett at around 105 crore nett but the business on Sunday did not push up. There is a huge issue of the presentation and correctness of the film as far as Ramayana goes. This is probably affecting the collections in mass areas where its a conservative audience and anything different from perceived notions is not taken too well.

There was no growth on Saturday but that is fine but Sunday should have done better. However, the mass circuits were just 10-15% up on Saturday and recovering to day one levels while the bigger circuits were flat or minor falls. The Sunday number does make it harder for the film over the weekdays but the huge plus is the numbers it has put up already.

The weekend is far above expectations and all circuits have done well. The Gujarat and Rajasthan areas have been affected by this Biparjoy cyclone with the former on Friday and the latter on Saturday but Gujarat made ground on Saturday and Rajasthan should have done same on Sunday.

The Hindi belt is seeing huge negativity for the film and that is reflected in the collections on Sunday with mass areas not up to the mark. So its pretty certain that a fall is coming on Monday and what the level of the fall is remains to be seen. The Nizam/Andhra pocket has done very well and even the Hindi version saw growth on Sunday in that region. The region will see weekend collections in the 75-80 crore nett range which is probably second to RRR only post the pandemic and better than PUSHPA: THE RISE - PART 01. The backlash to film seems less here as against the Hindi areas going by the trend in collections.

Irrespective of all that, its a huge weekend for exhibitors across the country as ADIPURUSH will have a 190 crore nett plus total over the weekend  but if the Hindi version could have even put up growth of 10-15% on Sunday it would give more confidence for the days to come.

The three day collections of the film are as follows.
Friday - 35,00,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 35,00,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 35,00,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 1,05,00,00,000 apprx
----------------------------------
ADIPURUSH has collected a huge 192 crore nett across India over its first weekend and $5 million overseas driven by collections in North America. The Hindi version of the film is over $1.75 million which is pretty good as it has limited face value. Also, there is a huge Muslim audience for the Hindi films in overseas and they are likely to avoid the film.

The worldwide gross of the film is 275 crore which is another huge number though it is short of RRR and KGF - CHAPTER 2 which had similar type of release. It is also less than PATHAAN which gathered up 330 crore in just the Hindi language. Post pandemic, this the fourth best number for an Indian film. The Telugu market overseas is much less than the Tamil market. So, the overseas numbers are less unless its breakout films like BAAHUBALI or RRR.

The figures from India are as follows and the collections from the South markets do not count the Hindi version; so, its a like to like comparison for Hindi films. The Nizam/Andhra figure does not include Hindi and collections from Marathawada.
Hindi - 1,05,00,00,000 apprx
Nizam/Andhra - 71,50,00,000 apprx
Karnataka - 9,50,00,000 apprx
Tamil Nadu - 3,75,00,000 apprx
Kerala - 1,25,00,000 apprx
Hindi Circuits (Telugu, Tamil) - 1,50,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 1,92,50,00,000 apprx

The Overseas and worldwide collections of the film are as follows.
India - 234 cr (192.50 nett)
Overseas - 41.50 cr ($5m)
TOTAL - 276.50 crore
