Haseen Dillruba has won rave reviews for its representation of the complexities of human relationships, but some sections of the audience have slammed the film for glorifying toxic relationships. However, its leading actor Vikrant Massey remains unperturbed.

“I believe I’m an honest libertarian and it’s my responsibility to not shun any voice,” he says and asserts he’d rather focus on adulation coming his way. “There’s no right or wrong in any form of art. I’d want to request anyone unable to recognise a film as a piece of art to get off from their position of privilege and visit three-tier cities, towns and villages in our country. It’s easy to hold an expensive phone and voice out your opinion on social media.”

The Ginny Weds Sunny (2020) actor rues the burden of morality which actors and filmmakers are expected to carry. “People shouldn’t carry their baggage of morality when watching a film or reading a book,” Massey says and cautions, “If we talk about shunning cinema that doesn’t fit into one’s definition of morality, we’ll have to snub classics such as The Godfather series, Braveheart (1995), Baazigar and Darr (both 1993), as well.”
