For Sunny Leone and her husband Daniel Weber, the ongoing Coronavirus lockdown has been all about returning to their roots. With most of their staff off duty, the couple has been doing all the household chores by themselves — cooking, cleaning, dusting, the works. They have also been managing their kids — twin sons Asher and Noah, and daughter Nisha — mostly on their own.

She shares, “Daniel and I were brought up in countries where we didn’t have house staff. We had to do everything ourselves and now, we’ve comfortably rolled back to that style of living.” She adds, “At one point, we did think of moving to a temporary pad in Goa, where the kids would get to go on the beach everyday and enjoy some fresh air, but we stayed put in our Mumbai apartment because our safety net’s here — any help is easily available.”

Talking about her daily routine, the actress says, “Daniel and I have divided household chores. While he makes breakfast, I cook lunch and dinner. We cook everything from Indian to Mediterranean food — cupcakes, parathas, rotis, mac ‘n’ cheese... the variety makes the kids happy. One of us sits with Nisha when she has online classes. And, when the babies nap, we do our workouts — we go up and down the building stairs and follow videos for high-intensity workouts.”

Sunny says that one of the biggest lessons the lockdown has taught her is the importance of a teacher in a child’s life. “I am grateful to teachers and today, I have an added amount of respect for them. Teachers do a very special job and I think they are all underpaid for it. We cannot do what the teachers do for our kids,” she signs off.
