Pahalgam's Government Civil
Hospital, the oldest and only hospital in this picturesque Kashmiri
town, was crowded with a Bollywood film crew and over 300 local fans of
Alia Bhatt who had gathered to watch the actress shoot a lengthy
sequence for her upcoming film, Raazi. A source told Mirror that Soni
Razdan, who had accompanied her daughter, plays her mother in the film
too. Both were without makeup and dressed in cotton salwar-kurtas. The
filming started around 2pm and ended
by 5:30pm. The unit will head back to Mumbai on Wednesday.
Measures were taken to ensure that patients were not troubled with a doctor on call outside the set. Cops from the Jammu and Kashmir police and jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were also deployed to boost security and ensure that no outsider ventured in. Permissions were in order and shooting was smooth.
The Junglee Pictures production, directed by Meghna Gulzar, also features Vicky Kaushal, who plays an army officer from across the border with Alia as his wife. The film is based on former Indian Navy lieutenant commander Harinder Sikka's bestselling novel, Calling Sehmat, inspired by the real-life story of a Kashmiri girl and is set against the backdrop of the 1971 Indo-Pak war.
After shooting in the dense Doodhpathri woods last week, Alia, on Monday morning, wrapped up a solo sequence alongside the banks of the Lidder river near a recreated bus depot. There were over 50-60 buses and nine vintage cars, some of them imported. Alia shot between the buses. The production designer has given a vintage look to the recreated set, which looks like a bus depot straight out of the '70s.
