After Hamari Adhuri Kahani it will be Kahaani 2 for Vidya Balan. The 37-year-old actress, who recently wrapped up a special appearance in Sujoy Ghosh's TE3N, in which she will be seen as a cop for the first time, has signed up to play the madam of a brothel in Begum Jaan, the Hindi adaptation of National Award winning director Srijit Mukherji's Bengali film, Rajkahini.

She has also given the nod to a biopic on controversial author Kamala Das, which will be directed by Malayalam filmmaker Kamal. But before these two films, she will kick off the long-anticipated sequel to her 2012 thriller, Kahaani.

“It's a start-to-finish 90-day schedule in Kolkata that will commence at the end of March,“ confirms filmmaker Jayantilal Gada, who is producing the Sujoy Ghosh directorial. While speaking to Mirror (December 29), Vidya had hinted to this, saying, “Sujoy and I are doing a film which will roll early next year, I'm hoping it will be Kahaani 2 but Sujoy has other interesting scripts too.“

Kahaani had concluded with Vidya Bagchi meeting her nemesis, avenging her husband's death and then getting lost in a visarjan procession and vanishing into the blue. When asked if the kahaani would continue from where it had left off, Gada refused to divulge details, stating that only Sujoy would be able to throw light on the creative. “We are looking at a March 2017 release but we want to shoot it at our own pace with no compromises. There are a lot of expectations from the film and I assure this Kahaani will be grander than the previous one,“ he signs off.
