Though the story is set in Ambala and Delhi, only one day's shoot was held in both the cities. Most of the film was shot in Chandigarh and Mumbai.

Varun Dhawan and Ashutosh Rana do not smoke in real life, but they had to light up for their roles.

Varun has rapped for the first time, in the song Lucky Tu Lucky Me. Shashank Khaitan has penned the lyrics for the rap portion.

While shooting a breakfast scene, Alia Bhatt insisted on being served papaya. She threatened to cancel the shoot otherwise.

Alia was unwell when some important scenes were to be shot, but she took injections and reported for the shoot.

Initially scheduled for two days, the shoot of the song Daingad Daingad was extended by a day. The actors had to battle slippery grounds due to incessant rainfall.

Around 1,800 tube lights were used for a car sequence featuring Varun and Sidharth Shukla. It took one day each to put them up and remove them.

The movie pays homage to Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge with a shot of the Maratha Mandir graffiti and a scene featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.

The house that's shown as Kavya's home had a table-tennis room. So, during breaks, the unit bonded over TT games.

While shooting for a drunk scene, Varun took a huge gulp of alcohol and was tipsy for half an hour. Otherwise, for most drinking sequences, the actors were given aerated drinks.
