HINDUSTAN TIMES (May 3, 2023)
During a promotional event for his latest film, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Salman Khan spoke about actor Shehnaaz Gill’s bond with late actor Sidharth Shukla and advised her to “move on” in life. Recently, during an appearance on the television show Aap Ki Adalat, the actor has cleared the air.
While speaking of how Khan wanted to be a father but didn’t want to get married, host Rajat Sharma reminded him of his advice to Gill. To this, the actor said, “I told her to move on. Sid (Shukla) ab iss duniya mein nahin rahe. I’m sure he will also want Shehnaaz to move on. Ye nahin ki unki shaadi ho jaye, bachche ho jaye.”
He laughed, “Abhi nahin, bahut time hai. But to get out of that Sidnaaz [phase], woh bohot hi heavy tha uske upar aur woh toot rahi thi bechari bachchi. Toh maine bola ki move on. Iska ye matlab nahin ki main bring it on bol raha hun.”
Shukla and Gill were both a part of Bigg Boss 13 and grew closer to each other. In September 2021, the former died of a heart attack.
Gill, who made her Bollywood debut with Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, was linked up with co-actor Raghav Juyal. However, the latter denied the same.

I really hope Shah Rukh Khan sees my Pathaan look and comments on it-Dikshita Jindal

Monika Rawal Kukreja (HINDUSTAN TIMES; March 1, 2023)
For makeup artist Dikshita Jindal, transforming into different celebrities might just be passion turned profession, but for those who follow her videos on Instagram, it’s nothing short of magic. Using prosthetics and special-effects makeup techniques, the 25-year-old, who hails from Delhi, has successfully recreated looks of over a 100 Indian celebrities.
Her latest Instagram reel, where she created Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan look, has crossed 13.4 million views in just 20 days. “It was crazy how people love this Pathaan transformation video. I uploaded and within a day, it garnered so many views,” an excited Jindal tells us.
The artist, currently in Canada, pursuing professional makeup studies in advanced prosthetic effects makeup, shares, “I really enjoyed creating the Pathaan look because I was doing a transformation after a long time, as I’d been busy with shifting and studies. Now that it has gone viral, I really hope Shah Rukh sees it and comments on it.”
Talking about her tryst with makeup, Jindal recalls being very passionate about makeup since childhood. Then, while she studied engineering, she bought a makeup kit with her savings and tried her hand at fun videos.
“I saw a few international artists transforming themselves into celebs, and I got really inspired. I thought to myself, ‘Why don’t I do it for Bollywood celebrities?’ I tried some looks with Indian celebs. That’s how I started practising and learnt these skills,” explains Jindal, who looks up to acclaimed British drag artist Alexis Stone and Brazilian makeup artist LetÃcia Gomes.
These transformations are, however, no cakewalk, and a lot goes into making them realistic and getting the intricacies right, asserts Jindal. “On average, it takes me about five to seven hours to do a transformation look. But there’s a lot of research that goes into it beforehand and also afterwards — during editing,” she shares, adding that getting everything right is important, including the choice of music for the video.
Jindal reveals that the longest it has ever taken her to recreate a celebrity look was 15 hours, when she transformed into the late actor Sidharth Shukla. “It was quite difficult and challenging because of his face cut and minute details,” says the artist, whose work was praised by actor Anupam Kher, who also shared it on his social media.
Jindal feels India has a huge market for prosthetic makeup and a lot of it has to do with the evolving film industry. “Many people in India don’t know that makeup is used differently in different industries. I see the prosthetics and special-effects makeup industry growing in the future — there are so many films that require artists to create bruises and cuts, or dusty makeup etc. For example, in the movie ’83 (2021), we saw Ranveer Singh being transformed into cricketer Kapil Dev using prosthetics, and he looked so real. So, it’ll only grow in the coming times,” says Jindal, who aspires to “be part of a Marvel movie or share screen space with Shah Rukh Khan.”

I’m not going inside Bigg Boss house with the notion that I’ll win by being Sati Savitri-Tina Datta

From showcasing her real self to finding love, Tina Dutta is game for new experiences as she joins Bigg Boss 16
Letty Mariam Abraham (MID-DAY; October 4, 2022)
Tina Datta became a household name when she made her appearance in the daily soap, Uttaran. While she began her acting career as a child artiste, it was in 2009 that she finally managed to make her mark. After playing diverse roles throughout her career, the actor will now showcase her real self on Bigg Boss 16. As she mentally prepares herself to live away from family with strangers for 90 days, Dutta talks about her prep, her hope of finding love, and choosing her battles wisely.
Edited excerpts from the interview.
Are you mentally prepared for the Bigg Boss house?
No one can fake through their journey inside the house. Even if you pretend to be someone else for a month, after that, you cannot hide the real you because cameras are rolling 24x7. I’m not going inside the house with the notion that I’ll win by being Sati Savitri. Bigg Boss is a show that [showcases] your personality, and I want to show it to my audience and fans. They already love me for the person I am.
Is there anything in your life that you don’t want people to know?
An actor’s life is an open book. There is nothing about me that the audience doesn’t already know. Everything has already come out in the media. I don’t fear that if I do this show, controversial things about my life will be revealed, because there is nothing controversial. However, I’ve had a lot of ups and downs in my life. That could be motivating for people from small towns who are struggling to be actors.
It is often seen that two things work to one’s advantage in the house — kitchen duty and a buzzing romance. Your take?
There isn’t one definite way to win the show. Sidharth Shukla didn’t do much in the kitchen, but still won the season. It’s the graph [of your journey in the house] and whether the audience likes your personality [that determines your run]. This is a mind game that depends on how you are projecting yourself.
Are you ready to find love in the house, and would it be true love?
I am open-minded about it. Often, the audiences feel that [the contestants] are faking their love on the show. But eventually, after they get out of the house, they are still together. It proves that they were never faking it. When you are with someone 24x7, everything happens in fast forward mode. What a person learns about another in a month [in real life], you understand that in a week in the house.
Would you be open to getting married on the show?
If they find me a nice guy in the house, why not? I don’t know who [else] is participating, but definitely send in a guy [laughs]. Since I am not dating anyone, I doubt I can get married in the house.
How do you plan to deal with conflict in the house?
That depends on the situation. If the situation calls for it, I will immediately react to it. That said, I also believe some battles don’t need to be fought. When there is a need, I put my foot down. I hope to be the same on the show.
What will your suitcase hold?
I will take all my comfortable outfits that I normally wear at home. Not everything is going to be designer wear. I am also taking photo frames of my family and fur babies.
What would be your weakness and strength in the game?
I would rather have that unfold on the show. I don’t want to show all my cards right here.
I still smile thinking how Sidharth Shukla used to pull my leg, flirt-Devoleena Bhattacharjee

Vinay MR Mishra (HINDUSTAN TIMES; September 2, 2022)
It’s been exactly a year since Sidharth Shukla, a popular actor whose fame surged after his stint in the reality show Bigg Boss, died due to cardiac arrest. However, even today, the late actor remains popular on social media. We speak to his fans, who are known as SidHearts, about their idol.
Mehak, 26, from Punjab, met the actor in November 2020. “When I met him, he treated me like he knew me. He treated everyone like family. I was there with him for 30 minutes, and he was just so warm. I remember telling him, ‘Your mum is sweet and you are the best son’, and he countered me right away with, ‘No, she is the best mum’,” she tells us.
Shukla’s fandom isn’t just limited to India. SidHearts are spread across the East, the West, and everything in between.
Kumayl Abbas Rizvi, from Islamabad, Pakistan, mentions, “In the past year, millions of his fans, including me, have realised that celebrating him, talking about him, telling people about him, implementing his ideas in our lives will never end. He is infinite, a never-ending source of guidance and love. His impact across the border is such that whenever something bad happened in our country, he always asked us about our safety. He never differentiated between his Indian, Pakistani or Bangladeshi fans. He always considered them his fans, his SidHearts, his Siddians.”
Nikita Sharma, 24, from Toronto, Canada, feels it is actor-singer Shehnaaz Gill (Shukla’s close friend) who keeps the late actor’s legacy alive. “For us, we see Sidharth in Shehnaaz. I believe he is watching all of us,” she states.
----------------------------------------------
RATNA GOEL
She is from Atlanta, USA, and has been running a fan account since 2017. “Even after he became really famous, he knew most of his fans by their names. I even used to tease him asking why he isn’t married and he always said he is ‘enjoying his single life’ and never gave a straight answer,” Goel recollects.
SMITA PANDEY
“I sent Sid a mug with his fans’ pictures as a gift. And on Mother’s Day, he posted a snap with his mum featuring the same mug! During interviews, he’d remember most of his fans’ accounts. Once, he took my name and said, ‘I’ve met her’,” says Pandey, who met the actor on the sets of Balika Vadhu.
DR NUPUR KHARANGATE
“He was an integral part of our lives, treated his SidHearts like family members, motivated and guided us. I just wish we could go back in time and relive the wonderful moments he spent with us. His absence has left a void, which can never be filled,” says Kharangate, a dentist from Goa, who met the actor in December 2020.
----------------------------------------------
Actor Devoleena Bhattacharjee was one of the celebrities who spent time with Sidharth Shukla inside the reality show Bigg Boss 13’s house in 2019. While the two had a roller-coaster journey on the show, Bhattacharjee was still one of his close allies.
“It seems just like yesterday,” she says when reminded that it’s been a year since the actor died. Bhattacharjee continues, “Whenever it strikes my mind that he is not with us anymore, I feel extremely sorry and upset.”
Talking about the late actor, she says, “He was a gentleman. In the show, we fought but also remained cordial. Outside of the show, we had been really good friends. I smile at times, thinking about how he used to pull my leg, flirt with me, and sing for me in that house. He took care of me when I got injured in the show.”
Shukla’s fandom keeps his legacy alive and Bhattacharjee says, “I feel that is the real success. Not everyone gets this success. I hope Sidharth is at peace, wherever he is.”

Sidharth Shukla lives on... in our hearts and memories-Shefali Jariwala

Hasti Doshi (BOMBAY TIMES; September 2, 2022)
It’s been a year since Sidharth Shukla passed away. Last year on September 2, he breathed his last after suffering a cardiac arrest. But his popularity remains intact. In fact, people close to him feel it has grown even more, which is evident from the numerous trends on social media. His followers continue to celebrate his achievements — from Balika Vadhu to Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania to Bigg Boss 13 — and remember all his glorious moments. One of the popular hashtags on Twitter is #SidharthShuklaLivesOn. His friends from the industry miss him, but they are glad to see the way his fans continue to cheer for him.
Shefali Jariwala, who has known Sidharth for two decades and was a part of Bigg Boss 13, echoes this sentiment. “It’s sad that he is not with us anymore, but he still lives in our hearts and memories. His fandom is so huge that we constantly see him through his fans on social media. They keep putting up his pictures and videos, which make us feel that he is still around us. Sidharth won many hearts with the good work that he has done. It’s very difficult to imagine that he is not here, and sometimes I go blank just thinking about it, because I still haven’t come to terms with it,” says the actress, adding, “I hope Sidharth is in a better place wherever he is. He will be happy to see that he has such loving fans and friends, who have kept him alive in their memories. I am sure he is smiling down upon us.”
Shefali, who knew Sidharth since her college days, shares, “I have not had an opportunity to work with him, but I have known him since our college days, which is 20 years. One thing about him is that he never changed in all these years. He was always fun-loving, dynamic, charming and a large-hearted guy, and he loved his friends a lot. He was a yaaron ka yaar.”
Going down memory lane, Shefali recounts the time when they first met. “That was when I was in Class XI or XII during an inter-college festival. He was pursuing Architecture and I was pursuing Science. There was a tragedy that had happened in both our lives — we had lost our best friends due to different reasons — and that’s how we connected. Back then, I didn’t know how to travel by train and he used to guide me on how to go from point A to point B. We lost touch some time later, but reconnected again when we both were modelling. We even dated for a brief period, but then we grew apart. However, we were always cordial when we met at any award function or event. And then we met in the Bigg Boss house three years ago and hit it off again.”
I wish he was here to celebrate his day with everyone, says Arti Singh on Sidharth Shukla’s birth anniversary

Hasti Joshi (BOMBAY TIMES; December 13, 2021)
Sidharth Shukla and Arti Singh, who were co-contestants in Bigg Boss 13, shared a beautiful bond. The two knew each other before the show and on it, too, their friendship was liked by the audience. They shared many fun moments and both made it to the top five. After the show, they didn’t keep in touch, something that Arti wishes she had done.
Sidharth, who passed away after he suffered a massive heart attack on September 2, would have turned 41 yesterday. Remembering him, Arti says, “I wish he was here to celebrate his birthday with everyone. We were friends for a long time, and I remember he had told me once that his car number was the same as his birth date. That’s something which has stuck in my mind.”
An emotional Arti recalls, “Even when we were in the Bigg Boss house, we had celebrated his birthday. I don’t know how to share what I am feeling right now, I really have no words. He has been a happy person and I wish that his soul is happy now.”
Post her stint on Bigg Boss 13, Arti is keen to be a part of good projects. “I have done a short film and a music video. I am picky about my work. I am at a stage in my life where I don’t want to work for money because I have already done that. Now, I want to do good work which satisfies me,” says the actress who has been a part of TV shows like Maayka, Uttaran and Devon Ke Dev... Mahadev.
Meanwhile, fitness has been on her mind, and she has been training hard. Arti says, “I am working hard on my body, and since the time I did Bigg Boss, I have lost 18 kilos. I am not doing this for work or anyone else, I am doing it for myself. When I feel good about myself, I have a different aura around me. I am a lot more confident now after my transformation.”
Sidharth Shukla’s family to release his rap on his birth anniversary?

Vinay M R Mishra (HINDUSTAN TIMES; November 26, 2021)
Late actor Sidharth Shukla, who died on September 2, appears to have wanted to be a rapper. We have learnt that Shukla recorded a rap early this summer. Despite the fact that the number was only recorded as a test, Shukla’s family intends to release the song for his fans on his first birth anniversary, which falls on December 12.
G Skillz, who has composed music for several Punjabi tracks, has given the music for the yet-to-be-titled track. Furthermore, actor Shehnaaz Gill’s brother, Shehbaz Badesha, is rumoured to have penned the lyrics for the track.
“The number is an upbeat one, full of life. It is all about Sidharth’s journey. Shehnaaz has been working closely on the track and ensuring it is a perfect tribute,” shares an insider. “The song will be a solo, featuring Shukla’s voice. The music video will stick to being lyrical and not something extravagant,” adds the insider.
Skillz confirms, “It is a hip-hop rap that bhai (Sidharth) has sung. It was going to be a large-scale, lavish video, but the circumstances are such. We are now contemplating when to release it.”
However, Badesha denies the news and maintains a “no comment” stance. “I only know about my songs,” he concludes.
Fans have become very toxic. I read negative things being said about Shehnaaz Gill also-Jaan Kumar Sanu

Juhi Chakraborty (HINDUSTAN TIMES; November 5, 2021)
Soon after singer Jaan Kumar Sanu announced a tribute song on late actor Sidharth Shukla and his rumoured girlfriend, actor-singer Shehnaaz Gill, he was trolled for disrespecting Shukla’s legacy. Responding to the same, Sanu says he is disheartened with the negative response to his song, Mera Tu.
“There is a lot of negativity on social media. I realised that people judge you no matter what, so it is better to just listen to your heart and do what you want to do. I am going to release my song and I hope that people like it,” he says.
Noting how the situation has become adverse for him as well as for Gill, who was also trolled for her tribute music video for Shukla, Sanu adds, “Fans have become very toxic. I read negative things being said about Shehnaaz also. People are targeting her as well, which is shocking. A lot of fans share video messages and dedicate songs to their idols. So why not question them? Just because someone is a public figure doesn’t mean you can question their intent.”
It has also been alleged that Sanu made the song a long time ago and was waiting to release it at the right time. “This song was made a week ago,” the singer clarifies, adding, “I got the track in my head, as a lot of Sidharth’s fans tag me in posts about us from our time on the reality show. I also revisited his and Shehnaaz’s moments and thought of paying tribute to such a beautiful relationship.”

Neha Bhasin hits out at age-shaming in Bigg Boss

How does it matter if a person is 20 or 40, asks the singer
Hasti Doshi (BOMBAY TIMES; October 13, 2021)
Neha Bhasin, who was recently seen in Bigg Boss OTT (BB OTT), has been following Bigg Boss 15 (BB 15). She even put up a post on social media recently supporting Shamita Shetty and Pratik Sehajpal, her BB OTT co-contestants. Neha said, “I see the show in bits and pieces, and sometimes my fan pages tag me on some things. I am in touch with Shamita’s mother, too. I keep myself updated on what's happening in Bigg Boss 15.”
Referring to the age-shaming that seems to be rampant on the show, the singer said, “Firstly, we are told that we are all equal in the show. So, it shouldn’t matter whether a person is 20 or 40. But people’s ages are regularly brought up. I feel that age shaming happens more to women than men. I saw Shamita getting age shamed on BB OTT. People would call her chachi and say that she was old enough to be their mother. In BB 15, she was called aunty by Karan Kundrra. There are others who say such things as well.”
Neha added, “I don’t appreciate such ageshaming comments, which is why I addressed the issue on my social media handle. Even when I had come out of the BB OTT house, I was called aunty, daadi, buddhi, tharki, etc. Why would anyone use such words to age shame me? When we were kids, we would address our elders as uncle and aunty out of respect.”
So, what did she think of Pratik’s game on the show? “Everyone told me that Pratik mellowed down in BB OTT because of me, so I guess audiences should enjoy watching him being aggressive on BB 15. I suppose people want to see him that way. Having said that, I also feel that he is getting bullied on the show currently. BB OTT contestants were sent as troublemakers (sankat) for the new contestants living in a jungle set-up. So, he’s just doing his job. But one against 13 people is a little unfair. I do feel bad for him, but in BB, one has to play on the front foot, especially when everyone is against them,” she said.
For those unversed, Shamita and Pratik had a tiff on BB 15 given their different ways of handling situations. Neha, who is a friend to both, said, “Even in BB OTT, they didn’t get along at the beginning. Later, when I was Pratik’s connection, they started talking. I was the common link, which is why they were somehow cordial to each other. I don’t think they ever got along then as well, and their differences now don’t surprise me at all. I also feel that the new contestants are playing Shamita and she hasn’t realised that yet.”

CONTESTANTS WHO WERE AGE-SHAMED IN BIGG BOSS HOUSE
SIDHARTH SHUKLA
Winner of Bigg Boss 13, late Sidharth Shukla may have been the most popular contestant, but even he was age-shamed. Mahira Sharma, after a fight with Sidharth, called him ‘buddha’. She received serious backlash for her comment.
EIJAZ KHAN
In season 14, Eijaz was age-shamed. On one occasion, during a task, Rahul Vaidya commented on his age saying, “Bhaago mat, umar ke liye achcha nahi hai (Don't run, it’s not good for your age).”
SONALI PHOGAT
Bigg Boss 14 contestant Sonali Phogat, who was also age-shamed on the show, later in an interview, said, “I don’t understand this. If I have aged, does that mean I can’t work in the industry?”
KASHMERA SHAH
Kashmera, who was a guest on Bigg Boss 13, got into arguments with co-contestant Nikki Tamboli for various reasons. Later, during one of the nominations, Nikki took Kashmera’s name and said that she did not reply to the latter’s comments as she respects her because of her age. Kashmera didn’t like the fact that Nikki made a comment about her age while nominating her and also broke down into tears after the incident.
SHEFALI JARIWALA
Paras Chhabra and Shefali Jariwala did not get along in the Bigg Boss 13 house. The former age-shamed her by calling her a cougar, after which Shefali’s husband Parag Tyagi slammed Paras on social media and Gauahar Khan, too, supported him.
Will Shehnaaz Gill resume shoot of her Punjabi film this month?

Neha Maheshwri (BOMBAY TIMES; September 22, 2021)
While the producers of her Punjabi film, Honsla Rakh, which stars Diljit Dosanjh have pinned their hopes on Shehnaaz Gill to resume work soon, the actress is still in a state of shock due to the loss of her dear friend, Sidharth Shukla. The hugely popular TV actor and winner of Bigg Boss 13 died of a heart attack on September 2. While the makers of Shehnaaz’s Punjabi film had originally planned to shoot a promotional song on September 15, they had to postpone it as she was in no position to report on the set. They are now looking at finalising a date by the end of this month and are hoping that Shehnaaz will be able to shoot for the same.
Producer Diljit Thind tells us, “We are waiting for her to recover and heal from the grave loss. We had originally planned to shoot the song on September 15 in London, but that couldn’t happen because of obvious reasons. We will finalise a new date soon and would want Shehnaaz to be a part of it, too, as she is an integral part of the film. I am in touch with her manager and hoping that she will contact us in a few days.”
Sidharth Shukla reunited Asim Riaz and me from up there-Paras Chhabra

Asim Riaz and Paras Chhabra are back to being friends again
Akash Wadhwa (BOMBAY TIMES; September 13, 2021)
Sidharth Shukla’s sudden demise shook the entire nation. His co-contestants from Bigg Boss 13, Asim Riaz and Paras Chhabra, too, were in a state of shock with the loss. However, the duo, who were at loggerheads because of their fights inside the Bigg Boss house, have now patched up. The two recently buried their past animosity and are friends again.
Telling us more about it, Paras shared, “When I heard the news of Sidharth’s demise, I was already anxious and depressed since morning. In fact, I had posted a picture with my mother at 6 am that morning. By noon, I started getting calls about what had happened with Sidharth and I began having a lot of anxiety. What had happened was shocking. I immediately decided to go to Sidharth’s house, where I met Asim for the first time after coming out of the Bigg Boss house last year.”
Talking about this further, Paras added, “The moment Asim and I saw each other, we couldn’t control our emotions and hugged each other. Asim, in fact, said ki milna toh tha, but aise nahi milna tha humein. It is at that very moment that we decided that we shouldn’t be keeping any animosity against each other and should be back to being friends. We also vowed to be in touch and to meet each other often. We both realised that no issue is so big in life that it cannot be resolved. Both of us took the first step towards each other at Sidharth’s place. It was as if Sidharth reunited us from up there. We have learnt a big lesson from his loss and the lesson is that life is really short to keep grudges with one another and not talk to each other. Asim and I have spent a lot of time inside the Bigg Boss house together and both of us were close to Sidharth.”
I cannot say RIP for Sidharth Shukla because for me, he is still somewhere around smiling-Kashmera Shah

Sugandha Rawal (HINDUSTAN TIMES; September 13, 2021)
It has been over a week since actor Sidharth Shukla passed away, but his friends from the industry are still in shock. Kashmera Shah, a close friend of the late actor, says, “Sid taught us to live life on our terms. While I am happy I met him, I’m also angry that I met him, because now, I know what it would be to not have him around. I met his family; his sisters loved him immensely and his mother doted on him,” Shah tells us.
Requesting people to allow his family some privacy, the 49-year-old adds, “We all will eventually move on with our lives, but Sid was a star when he lived and now he is a bright shining star in the sky, looking after all his fans and family. Let’s not disappoint him and let us maintain his dignity and give his family the time needed to grieve and cope with this sudden tragedy.”
Shukla, who widened his popularity after appearing on a popular TV reality show, passed away on September 2 after reportedly, suffering a heart attack. “I cannot bring myself to accept that he is no more amid us. How can someone as invincible as Sid no longer be with us?” wonders Shah, who stayed with the late actor in a house as part of the show.
Revisiting the time they spent together on the show, she says, “We became really good friends. I knew Sid as someone who lived life on his terms.”
Shah even points out how he “never posted anything just to gain more followers on social media and never did something he didn’t truly believe in”. The late actor’s close friend further said that Sid was like an undefeated King. “I cannot say RIP for him because for me, he is still somewhere around smiling,” she concludes.

Sidharth Shukla was a very private person; making a spectacle of his passing was really disturbing-Shefali Jariwala

Juhi Chakraborty (HINDUSTAN TIMES; September 10, 2021)
Like his other friends, Sidharth Shukla’s sudden death came as an absolute shocker for Shefali Jariwala, who says she is still in disbelief. “The passing of a friend and something that we did not expect at all has been difficult for me. It has been a shocker and it still hasn’t sunk in actually,” she admits.
Shukla’s untimely death has also been a rude shock to his rumoured girlfriend, Shehnaaz Gill. “Shehnaaz is a strong woman. She will get through it,” says Jariwala, who participated with both Gill and Shukla on a reality show.
“Even Sidharth’s mother and his sisters are really strong. Normally, a mother would be inconsolable, but she was holding it together. They all have each other and they will get through it. I just pray that they have the strength to cope with this loss,” the actor hopes.
Jariwala, who had earlier dated Shukla, was angry to see how people were hounding his family and Gill.
“At the funeral, it was a circus. I was so angry to see the way people hounded Shehnaaz. It was not right. Shehnaaz and his mother and sisters are grieving. You have to give them the space and privacy to do so. Sidharth was a very private person, as so is his mother; making such a spectacle of his passing was really disturbing to see. It is not something that he would have wanted,” says the 38-year-old.
Along with Jariwala, other participants of the reality show were also present to support Shukla’s family, including Asim Riaz and Rashami Desai.

Bodybuilding in moderation doesn’t lead to heart attack risk-Freddy Daruwala

Juhi Chakraborty (HINDUSTAN TIMES; September 8, 2021)
After the sudden death of fitness-conscious actor Sidharth Shukla at 40, a lot is being spoken about the fitness regime that celebrities follow. While some feel actors go the extra mile in terms of exercising, actor Freddy Daruwala, who is a fitness enthusiast himself, does not believe in pinning the blame on workout.
“There’s no proof that bodybuilding or powerlifting done in moderation can cause a heart attack. On the contrary, when done in moderation (about an hour every day), they increase the heart capacity by 40 to 70%. One should have proper guidance and knowledge about the products he/she is consuming,” he shares.
The 37-year-old, who is currently shooting for a Telugu project in Kashmir, says that he has seen people asking their gym trainers for the diet. “I don’t doubt the knowledge of trainers, but I feel there’s a reason why we have sports nutritionists, doctors and dietitians,” Daruwala says, adding that there are some dos and don’ts that one must follow.
“There’s always a fine line between too much and pushing a little harder. One must listen to their body and tune themselves in sync with the body to understand what it needs. But always remember, what fits one might not fit the other,” he says

Sidharth’s final rites were conducted on September 3, during which some of his friends from the industry were present. The 40-year-old actor is survived by his mother Rita Shukla and two sisters Neetu and Preeti.
Yesterday, the family released a statement thanking those who supported the actor and requested that they be allowed to grieve in private. The Shukla family in their note said, “Heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been a part of Sidharth’s journey and showered him with unconditional love. It definitely doesn’t end here as he now resides in our hearts forever! Sidharth valued his privacy, hence we request you to allow our family the privacy to grieve.”
The statement further read, “A special Thank You to the Mumbai Police force for their sensitivity and compassion. They have been like a shield, protecting and standing by us every minute of the day! For actor Aly Goni, it was difficult to attend the funeral of his friend, actor Sidharth Shukla, who passed away recently after suffering a heart attack. Now, he is struggling to get it out of his mind, as he is getting flashes from the tragic event. “I’m still unable to accept the fact that Sidharth has gone. Life begins at 40, and he passed away at that age. I am speechless. I attended the funeral and now I want to disconnect, as flashes of Sidharth keep coming to my mind all the time. I wish all the strength to his mother, his family and Shehnaaz (Gill; Sidharth’s rumoured girlfriend),” shares Goni.
Goni returned from Kashmir with girlfriend Jasmin Bhasin on Thursday, when they got the devastating news at the airport. The video of Goni, 30, breaking down on the phone also surfaced on the Internet. “It was the most shocking news. He was an amazing person and my senior,” shares the actor.
Earlier, Goni took to social media to mourn the loss and send strength to Gill. “Chehra jo hamesha haste hue dekha.. khush dekha… lekin aaj jaisa dekha bass dil toot gaya … stay strong sana.. #numb #heartbroken (sic),” he tweeted.
Goni feels that one must live in the present and make the most of it, because there’s no guarantee of the future. “The tragic incident has reminded us to make the most of our life and seize the moment today,” he says.

Pavitra Punia is not feeling well. She says she has not been able to come to terms with the sudden death of her good friend and co-star Sidharth Shukla. The actor was proud of his achievements and knew how ambitious he was.
She adds that he loved superbikes and cars and would often bring his superbike on set to “show off”. Punia says, “In the next two years, he would have reached greater heights.”
The actor says her heart goes out to his family and friend Shehnaaz Gill. Talking about Gill, Punia says, “Aaj main jab Shehnaaz ko dekhti hoon, toh rooh kaanp jaati hai. People dream of having a pure bond like they had. I wouldn’t say it was dosti or boyfriend-girlfriend. Yeh rishta pati-patni se kam nahin tha. Their fans are crazy about them. I hope she manages, stays strong.”
Recalling her rapport with him, she shares, “We had a Tom and Jerry like bond! I worked with him in Love U Zindagi in 2011, my first show as a lead. I didn’t know the ways of the industry, yet, I had an attitude. I was called a youth icon and a reality star due to Splitsvilla. Sidharth was reserved, composed. He was my senior, but we had issues. I’d think hoga hero apne ghar ka. The show lasted for six months. But we bonded when we went to Macau for an awards show. That’s where we broke the ice. He was such a gentleman. Later, when we met on Bigg Boss, he asked me, ‘Dus saal pehle wali Pavtira kahan hai?’. He wanted the rowdy Pavitra. Had he not helped me realise the original Pavitra, I wouldn’t have lasted for a week.”

The untimely death of actor Sidharth Shukla sent shock ripples across the entertainment industry. When the news of the 40-year-old’s passing broke on September 2, his good friend Jasmin Bhasin was enroute to Mumbai.
The actor was in Kashmir with her boyfriend Aly Goni on a trip. The duo was quite close to Shukla, as both of them had worked with him in TV shows. Bhasin says, “I heard the shocking news only after I landed in Mumbai from Kashmir. It was a devastating feeling.”
The actor, who worked with Shukla in the 2017 TV show, Dil Se Dil Tak, adds, “We had fun working together in the show and had a warm and friendly rapport. He was such a lively person. I just can’t get over the reality. He was only 40. Is 40 an age to die? Life’s uncertainty is certain. Everyone should live in the present. All I remember now is his ever-smiling happy-go-lucky face.”
Bhasin recalls they shared some fun times together and those memories are all that are left. She says, “We had some good times working together on the set. He was a good friend. When you lose a person you know well, it’s very painful. I am speechless. I pray for strength to Shehnaaz Gill and Sidharth’s mom and family in these trying times. The loss is irreparable. May his soul rest in peace.”

BOMBAY TIMES (September 3, 2021)
Sidharth Shukla’s sudden demise yesterday morning, after suffering a cardiac arrest, sent shockwaves through the industry. The 40-year-old actor was rushed to Mumbai’s Cooper Hospital, however, hospital authorities reportedly said he was dead when brought in. Sidharth is survived by his mother and two sisters. His friends and colleagues expressed shock and grief while grappling to come to terms with the news.
Sidharth began his career in showbiz as a model and was runner-up in the Gladrags Manhunt and Megamodel Contest in 2004 and also won the World’s Best Model contest held in Turkey in 2005. He made his acting debut with the show Babul Ka Aangann Chootey Na in 2008 and followed it up with serials like Jaane Pehchaane Se... Ye Ajnabbi and Love U Zindagi. However, it was his performance as Shiv in Balika Vadhu that made him immensely popular and a household name.
He then made his Bollywood debut with Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014), which saw him share screen space with Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. He had a successful stint on the reality shows that he participated in. While he experimented with dance on Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6, he went on to win season seven of Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi. Sidharth, known to be a private person, surprised many when he agreed to be a part of Bigg Boss 13.
Not only did Sidharth win Bigg Boss 13, but his popularity hit the roof with his fans calling themselves ‘Sidhearts’. They regularly shared posts about him that led to viral trends. Talking about his decision to be a part of the show, in an interview with Bombay Times in May this year, he had said, “I feel good about my decision because, I wasn’t keen on it. I remember that one day I was just sitting by myself and thinking, ‘What is it that scares you about entering the house?’ I asked myself, ‘Is there something that you are ashamed of? Is there a side to you that you don’t want the world to see?’ And my answers were ‘No’ to all these thoughts in my head. That’s when I told myself if you are so comfortable with yourself, then what’s the problem, just go out there, have a good time and come back. So, there I was.”
His equation and banter with Bigg Boss co-contestant Shehnaaz Gill became a talking point, with fans lovingly coining the name ‘Sidnaaz’ for them. While there were rumours about them being in a relationship, they never spoke about it.
