A R Rahman’s next venture in Bollywood is director Arif Ali’s Lekar Hum Deewana Dil. LHDD, as we told you a few days ago, marks the entry of Raj Kapoor’s grandson Armaan Jain and South import Deeksha Seth in Bollywood. The film is all about making mistakes and growing up. It takes audiences through the journey of two friends who take decisions, face consequences and learn from them.
As in the case of other Illuminati films like Love Aaj Kal and Cocktail, the USP of LHDD is its music. Khalifa is the first track to come out and is programmed with an electronic music base.
Rahman says, “I really enjoyed working
with Arif, Dinoo (producer Dinesh Vijan) and Amitabh (Bhattacharya,
lyricist). Khalifa is the result of our jam session. I hope people
embrace it and support this effort.”
We hear the song has been written and composed in the span of a single night. Adds
Dinesh, “Khalifa was composed during the first session that we had with
Rahman sir. The track just came together with a life of its own and it
sets the tone of the album.”
Says Amitabh, the lyricist, “Being
the first song, it had to be catchy. We were searching for a perfect
phrase or a word and that’s when I came up with ‘Khalifa’. It means
being a leader.”
Arif further adds, “Khalifa represents the daredevil attitude of today’s youth.”
Lekar Hum Deewana Dil, produced by Eros International and Illuminati Films, releases July 4.
