Please feel free to not care about me at all-Ayesha Takia

HINDUSTAN TIMES (February 20, 2024)
Ayesha Takia has given a befitting reply to those who criticised her appearance after a rare spotting at the Mumbai airport recently. Posting a long note on Instagram Stories, the actor — who was last seen in Mod (2011) — said people need to “get over” her.
The Wanted (2009) actor wrote, “Need to say this, rushed to Goa two days ago, had a medical emergency in my family. My sister has literally been in hospital. Amid all this, I remember being stopped by paps and posing for them for basically a few seconds before flying off. Turns out, there are no other important issues in the country except dissecting my looks.”
Takia went on to clarify that she has “zero interest in doing any films”. She added, “Been bombarded by viral ridiculous opinions of how people think I should have looked and don’t. Literally get over me yaar... I’m living my life happily, never want to be in the limelight, not interested in any fame, don’t wanna be in any film. Please feel free to not care about me at all.”
Baffled at the “ridiculous” comments being made about her looks, she said, “Expecting a girl whose mostly been seen in her teens to look identical even after 15 years... How unrealistic and ridiculous are these people... Please find better things to do with your time rather than pick apart good looking women.”

THE TIMES OF INDIA (November 13, 2022)
Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and five of his team members were stopped for an hour at Mumbai airport by customs officials early on Saturday over payment of duty for 6 luxury watches worth Rs 17.90 lakh. After their evaluation, customs duty of Rs 6.90 lakh was levied on the watches.
Khan had flown in from Dubai on a chartered flight at 12. 30am and the payment facility was not operational at that time.
An official said during the screening of the luggage of the actor and his entourage, the watches were found in one of the bags that was with Khan’s bodyguard Ravi Shankar Singh.

Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, his manager Pooja Dadlani, and bodyguard Ravi were stopped at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Friday evening, for allegedly carrying expensive watches and other dutiable goods. Sources told midday that while Khan and his manager were allowed to leave, the bodyguard was released on Saturday morning after paying customs duty and a fine of Rs 6.87 lakh.
According to a source in the customs, Khan and his team landed via a chartered plane at the airport and were supposed to exit from the Kalina VIP gate, but the officer of the customs batch B stopped them based on information that the actor was carrying expensive watches. “After a thorough search, it was found that his bodyguard Ravi was carrying expensive watches.”
The total value of the watches and other dutiable goods was worth Rs 17 lakh, which included expensive watches such as Buben, Zorweg, Rolex, and Apple. After all customs duties and fine calculations were done, Ravi was asked to pay Rs 6.87 lakh. “He was allowed to leave after completing all formalities and paying the penalties,” the officer added.

THE TIMES OF INDIA (August 31, 2022)
Actor and film critic Kamaal R Khan (54) was arrested by police on Tuesday at the city airport when he landed from Dubai for his derogatory tweets about Akshay Kumar’s film ‘Laxmmi’ and Ram Gopal Verma in 2020. Shiv Sena’s Rahul Kanal had complained that Khan used Twitter to post distasteful tweets about celebrities.
------------------------------------------------
Actor, producer and film critic Kamaal R Khan (54) was arrested by Malad police on Tuesday for his derogatory tweets in 2020. Shiv Sena member Rahul Kanal had complained that Khan operated two Twitter handles, which he frequently used for posting distasteful tweets about celebrities.
A lookout circular had been issued against Khan as he was not in Mumbai then. As soon as he landed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International air-port late on Monday, police were informed and he was detained.
In October 2020, Kanal, who runs a social organization, complained about Khan’s tweets on Akshay Kumar’s film ‘Laxmmi’. Kanal said the tweets were aimed at spreading hatred and creating enmity between communities. Kanal also mentioned a distasteful tweet Khan had posted against filmmaker Ram Gopal Verma. Subsequently, Malad police registered an FIR against Khan for defamation under provisions of IPC and Information Technology Act.
“We tried to contact Khan in 2020 for making enquiries but we learnt that he had moved to Dubai, following which a lookout circular was issued against him,” a senior police officer said.
Khan was produced before a Borivali magistrate court on Tuesday. In the remand application, police said they wanted to probe Khan’s intention behind such tweets and if he was doing it on instructions from someone. They also want to probe if Khan was demanding money from people in the film industry against threats of posting negative film reviews on social media.

The Mumbai Police arrested actor and film critic Kamaal Rashid Khan, also known as KRK, late on Monday night in connection with allegedly defamatory tweets posted by him in 2020. Among these were posts about late actors Rishi Kapoor, who was hospitalised at the time, and Irrfan. On Tuesday, a Borivali Court sent him to 14-day judicial custody.
Khan was nabbed from the Mumbai airport after he arrived from Dubai, the official from Malad police station said. The police did not reveal details of the tweet. The official said a lookout circular had earlier been issued against him.
An FIR was also registered against him in 2020 under various Indian Penal Code sections including 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot) and 500 (punishment for defamation), and provisions of the Information Technology Act, he said.
Rahul Kanal, who had filed a complaint against Khan in 2020, told us post his arrest, “I’m really happy with the way the Mumbai Police has acted in this matter. There’s a difference between being a film critic and being a rabble-rouser. He may call himself a filmmaker and critic but he is the latter a person with filthy thoughts, which he puts out in the public domain without any care or concern.
He’s but just a foul-mouthed person with social media following. His tweets, most of the times, are derogatory and defamatory toward public figures, especially from the film industry. He has spared almost no one. I was extremely enraged with some of his comments and I have registered complaints against him in many police stations in the city in recent years. The one registered in Malad is one of the many complaints against him, registered in 2020. I was passing Malad when I read his tweet against Mr Rishi Kapoor who had just passed away. It was in such bad taste and so derogatory that I couldn’t stop myself from reaching out to the police. I am really glad that with his arrest, we are setting a precedent for everyone who thinks social media is a great place to create trouble, show disrespect, and put out derogatory stuff against just about anyone. An example has to be set for people like KRK who misuse social media and disrespect people.”

HINDUSTAN TIMES (August 31, 2022)
Actor and self-proclaimed film critic Kamaal R Khan aka KRK has been sent to 14-day judicial custody by Borivali Court, reported ANI. He was arrested by the Mumbai police late Monday night after he arrived from Dubai. The 47-year-old’s arrest was allegedly in relation to a defamatory tweet, an official from the Malad police station said. While the police didn’t reveal the details of the tweet that got him in trouble, several reports indicate that it was in relation to KRK’s questionable tweets about late actors Irrfan and Rishi Kapoor in 2020.
An official said a look out circular was earlier issued against him. An FIR was also registered against him in 2020 under various Indian Penal Code sections, including 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot) and 500 (punishment for defamation), and provisions of the Information Technology Act, he said. The Mumbai police came to know about his arrival on Monday and immediately arrested him, the official added.
After the news of his arrest surfaced, many social media users came forward to express their views. While a few supported KRK, others wondered about the relief that Bollywood stars must be feeling right now.
“Day started with good news,” commented a user, while another one wrote, “Waiting for his reviews on Mumbai police sewa pani (services).”

Richa Shukla (BOMBAY TIMES; December 7, 2021)
As Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal touched down in Jaipur on Monday, the entire village of Chauth Ka Barwara seemed to be getting ready for the grand nuptials that kick off today. Located about 35 kilometres away from Sawai Madhopur city, the village — famous for the centuries-old Chauth Mata Temple on hilltop — is now playing host to one of Bollywood’s most anticipated weddings.
The three-day festivities will take place at a 14th-century fortturned-luxury heritage property located in the district, and all the 45 rooms and four suites in it have been booked out for the wedding. The special Rs. 7-lakh-a-night suite booked for the couple, comes with its own swimming pool, lush green garden, and forest and lake view.
The wedding is expected to see 120 guests in attendance, and over 100 bouncers from Jaipur have been deployed at the venue, which was barricaded with iron sheets to maintain secrecy on Monday.
The local gram panchayat, along with the Barwara Traffic Police, will be handling the traffic during the three-day festivities, as cars ferry guests from the Jaipur airport or different hotels of Sawai Madhopur to the venue. On Friday last week, the district administration held a meeting to discuss the law and order arrangements ahead of the high-profile wedding.

Drum roll please: After weeks of staying tight-lipped, Vicky-Katrina spotted at Mumbai airport leaving for five-day celebration in Rajasthan
MID-DAY (December 7, 2021)
Are they tying the knot? Are they not? That was the country’s favourite subject of gossip over the past month as rumours abounded about Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif’s December 9 wedding. While the couple remained tight-lipped, the buzz strengthened last week when Sawai Madhopur district officials held a meeting to review the preparations for the celebrity wedding at Six Senses Fort Barwara resort in Rajasthan.
On Monday evening, the ‘Kat’ was out of the bag and seen heading straight for a flight — the bridal couple were spotted at Kalina airport in Mumbai, ready to wing their way to Rajasthan and kick off the five-day celebration. A beaming Kaushal waved out to the photographers before entering the terminal. Minutes later, the bride-to-be, radiant in an ochre sharara and accompanied by mother Suzanne Turquotte, made an appearance. The festivities will begin today with an elaborate sangeet.
Jacqueline Fernandez stopped from leaving India; to be replaced by Daisy Shah in Da-Bangg The Tour?

Niharika Lal (BOMBAY TIMES; December 7, 2021)
On Sunday evening, immigration officials detained Jacqueline Fernandez — who was headed to Dubai for a show — at Mumbai International Airport. Sources say, “Jacqueline was stopped from leaving the country by immigration officials due to an LOC (Look Out Circular) issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against her in connection with a Rs. 200 crore money laundering case involving Sukesh Chandrasekar.”
The LOC was issued with directions that the actress should not be permitted to leave India. Following the incident, ED officials reached the airport, where they informed the actress that she has to appear for questioning before the agency in Delhi. Fresh summons against Jacqueline will be issued soon. On Saturday, the ED filed a chargesheet in a Delhi court against Chandrasekar and others in the case.
According to ED, Jacqueline and Chandrasekar had allegedly met four times in Chennai between April and June this year, when the latter was out on bail and Chandrasekar even arranged a private jet for the actress for these meetings. As per reports, the chargesheet mentions that Chandrasekar has gifted Jacqueline items worth Rs. 10 crores including jewellery, four Persian cats — one worth Rs. 9 lakh — and a horse worth Rs. 52 lakh. Last week, pictures of Chandrasekar and Jacqueline together went viral. In August, when she recorded her statement, Jacqueline denied any financial links with Chandrasekar.

JACQUELINE TO BE REPLACED BY DAISY SHAH FOR SALMAN’S DA-BANGG TOUR?
Since authorities might call Jacqueline again for questioning, which she will have to appear for, she might not be able to be a part of Salman Khan’s upcoming Da-Bangg The Tour, which will kick off later this week in Riyadh. While the buzz is that Daisy Shah will be replacing Jacqueline, the former denied the reports, and told us, “I am not aware of this.” Other actors, who are a part of the tour include Aayush Sharma, Prabhudheva, Sunil Grover, Saiee Manjrekar and Shilpa Shetty Kundra among others.

Actor Jacqueline Fernandez, 36, on Sunday was stopped at the Mumbai airport by the immigration officers, as there was a Look Out Circular (LOC) issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against her. According to a PTI report, officials stated that the actor was barred from leaving the country after being named as one of the beneficiaries in alleged conman Sukesh Chandrasekar’s ₹200 crore money-laundering case and that she may be required to join an ongoing investigation for the same.
The actor was on her way to Dubai or Muscat when she was stopped, and she left the airport around 6 pm. Since travel restrictions might be imposed on her, rumours have emerged that actor Salman Khan is likely to replace her in the Da-Bangg The Tour, which is set to begin this month in the UAE.
A source close to the actor tells us, “For now, Jacqueline is going to be in the country and won’t travel abroad.”
The Sri Lankan-origin actor was questioned by the ED in multiple sessions in connection with the over ₹200 crore money-laundering case being probed against Chandrasekar and his wife, actor Leena Maria Paul.
Recently, Jacqueline’s cosy pictures with the conman, weeks after she denied any relationship with him, went viral and had sparked a controversy.

THE TIMES OF INDIA (December 6, 2021)
New Delhi: Actor Jacqueline Fernandez was briefly detained at Mumbai airport on Sunday and prevented from travelling abroad on a pending lookout circular against her issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money-laundering case.
Fernandez, who has been allowed to go home, has been questioned several times in the past six months by the ED in connection with a case linked to the alleged moneylaundering of Rs 200 crore by alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekar.
According to the ED probe, Chandrashekar transferred ‘proceeds of crime’ to Fernandez and her siblings. Some of the alleged money extorted by the conman, who is in Tihar jail, was laundered in Dubai bank accounts of Fernandez, according to ED’s chargesheet.
The chargesheet in the case was filed on Saturday and mentioned alleged links of Fernandez with the conman. Before being released by ED on Sunday, the actress was asked to remain in the country and present herself for further investigation.
Fernandez had skipped summons at least thrice earlier. In August, when she had first recorded her statements she refused to accept that she had any financial links with the Chandrashekar. She may soon be confronted with Chandrashekhar and his actor-wife Leena Maria Paul, who is also behind bars. Actor Nora Fatehi was also questioned recently in the same case.
CISF sorry as Sudhaa Chandran had to take off artificial limb at airport

Manju V (THE TIMES OF INDIA; October 23, 2021)
Mumbai: Dancer and actor Sudhaa Chandran, an amputee, in a video statement posted on a social media platform, said she is made to remove her prosthetic limb to clear airport security every time.
On Thursday, the 56-year-old accomplished Bharatnatyam dancer had reached the Mumbai airport to board a flight to Hyderabad when she was asked to remove her prosthetic limb to clear security, said an aviation source.
In a video clip posted later, Chandran said: “Every time I go on my professional visits, each time I am stopped at the airport and when I request CISF security officers that please do an ETD (explosive trace detector) test for my artificial limb, they still want me to remove my artificial limb and show it to them.”
She added it is “very disheartening and humiliating at times when I am told to show or remove my artificial limb”.
Four years ago, India had amended security norms for disabled passengers, under which their prosthetics or wheelchairs are to be put through an X-ray check only on sufficient reason and justification. Chandran appealed to the Prime Minister to intervene and make airport security less of an ordeal for senior citizens.
Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the agency in charge of airport security, issued a public apology and stated under the existent security protocol, “prosthetics are to be removed for security checks only under exceptional circumstances”.
The CISF tweeted: “We will examine why the lady personnel concerned requests Chandran to remove the prosthetics. We assure Chandran that all our personnel will be sensitised again on the protocols so that no inconvenience is caused to travelling passengers.”
Nipun Malhotra, a wheelchair user, said: “In 2017, O P Singh, the then director-general CISF, had amended security screening protocol to bring dignity to wheelchair users. Since then, clearing airport security hasn’t been an ordeal. So I was sad to hear about Chandran’s experience.”
Communications professional Antara Telang, an amputee, said: “I fly largely out of Mumbai and Bengaluru. My airport experience improved after the security norms were amended a few years ago. Not every security personnel is conversant with these amendments though, in which case, I inform them. Then their superior intervenes and they let me clear security without ordeal.”
TIMES VIEW:
In many countries, X-ray screening of prosthetics and patients on wheelchairs is rare at airports. In 2017, India amended its SOP for screening of passengers with disabilities to make X-ray screening the last resort. The CISF should ensure that its security personnel are conversant with the amendment. They should be sensitized and trained to maintain the highest security standards without inconveniencing differently abled passengers.

Actress Sudhaa Chandran recently shared a video after she was asked to remove her artificial limb at the airport, which went viral. The actress mentioned that she has to follow this process each time she is on a professional trip. She went on and made an appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to issue cards like that of senior citizens.
"Every time that I go on my professional visits, each time, I am stopped at the airport and when I request them at the security, to the CISF officers... that please do an ETD for my artificial limb, they still want me to remove my artificial limb and show it to them. Is this humanly possible, Modi ji? Is this what our country is talking about? Is this the respect that a woman gives to another woman in our society?” the actress said.
Speaking to mid-day.com, Sudhaa Chandran said, "As hurt as I was yesterday, today I'm touched by the wonderful apology and emotions by the CISF. The authorities from Hyderabad airport met and assured me such things will not happen again unless it's an extreme situation. Though I understand they were doing their job, it can be extremely stressful for the specially abled. Mr Gopal Shetty, an MP from BJP, reached out to me immediately. Secondly, Mr Jyotiraditya Scindia, reached out to me and assured such incidents will not be repeated. A big thank you to my industry colleagues who have been constantly tweeting to Narendra Modi ji, that's something I have earned in the last 30 years of my career. The swift action by the Central government is reassuring. Also, thanks to the media for raising and supporting this issue. I also had the CISF from Mumbai at my residence, but I couldn't meet them because I was in Hyderabad."
The ASI was not rewarded for stopping Salman Khan, but was rewarded in internal assessment, says CISF

Last week, a video of Salman Khan being stopped at Mumbai airport and directed towards security clearance went viral. Some reports claimed that the CISF ASI was penalised for stopping Salman, which the CISF has refuted
Niharika Lal (BOMBAY TIMES; August 27, 2021)
Last week, a video of Salman Khan at the Mumbai airport surfaced, in which a CISF officer can be seen stopping him, and gesturing him towards the mandatory security check. The video soon went viral and some reports claimed that the ASI who stopped Salman Khan was penalised.
Responding to it, the CISF clarified via a tweet that the ASI was not penalised, but was instead “suitably rewarded for exemplary professionalism in the discharge of his duty.”
Now, the CISF has shared with us that the ASI wasn’t rewarded for stopping Salman either. The CISF adds that it is routine process to get documents checked at the airport, regardless of the passenger’s celebrity status.
WE HAD TO CLARIFY AS THE ISSUE WAS BLOWN OUT OF PROPORTION: CISF SPOKESPERSON
DIG Anil Pandey, Chief Spokesperson, CISF, tells us, “Someone shot a video of Salman Khan at the airport and a rumour was spread that the CISF personnel who stopped him was taken to task, hence we had to clarify on Twitter. It was ASI Somnath Mohanty who was on duty, and as per security protocol at the airport, he stopped Salman Khan and asked him to get security clearance. Every passenger has to go through the same procedure.”
Clarifying the reward given to the ASI, Anil adds, “The ASI on duty was not rewarded for stopping Salman Khan, but he was rewarded in internal assessment as the best performer. We have our internal reward mechanism. What ASI Mohanty did was a routine check, and nothing exceptional. Not just in Mumbai, but the CISF personnel at all the airports across the country follow the same procedure for airport checkins of celebrities as for any other passenger.” The security protocol is different for only those who are on the VIP list of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), he says.
‘CELEBS GO THROUGH SECURITY PROTOCOL WITHOUT ANY ISSUE’
The CISF officials say that due to the presence of paparazzi and fans at the airports, when big stars are stopped it goes viral, but celebrities don’t get any different treatment. A CISF official says, “It is standard protocol. Most of the time, when actors travel, their assistants step in to show documents and ID of the celebrity.”
In 2019, Deepika Padukone was stopped by a CISF jawan and asked to show her ID. While this is a regular protocol, fans on social media praised the actress for not having any starry airs and stepping back to show her ID before entering the airport. During the pandemic, glass shields have been put up at airports at entry points and for identification, even celebrities are asked to remove masks.
Recently, videos of Deepika Padukone and Kiara Advani were circulated online when the CISF asked them to remove masks for check-in, and fans went gaga over how they followed the rules. Anil Pandey says, “I don’t remember even a single incident where any Bollywood celebrity didn’t stop for the security check or created any issue.”
However, there are some instances of celebs arguing with airport officials over security checks. In 2018, on their way back to Mumbai from Ahmedabad, Sunny Leone’s entourage did not get a priority security check at the airport. She had reached the airport late and asked airport officials that her bodyguards be allowed to jump the queue, but they weren’t allowed.
In a series of tweets, she had said, “Beyond disappointed in the Ahmedabad Airport... Well, there were many things, but I did expect the airport people to help and I guess that’s my bad. Next time I don’t think I’ll fly through this airport without confirmation that the airport security will have compassion for those who need it.”

Mumbai: The BMC has filed an FIR against actors Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan and the latter’s son Nirvaan for flouting the mandatory hotel quarantine rule for international flyers. They had returned to the city from the UAE on December 25 and told officials that they would isolate themselves at Taj Lands End. However, they drove home and cancelled the hotel booking, reports Vijay V Singh. Khar police booked the three under Section 188 for disobedience to an order promulgated by a public servant and 269 for a negligent act which is likely to spread infection of a disease dangerous to life.

Mumbai: BMC has filed an FIR against actors Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan and his son Nirvaan for flouting the mandatory hotel quarantine rule for international flyers.
BMC officials said on Monday they learned that the Khans had violated hotel quarantine rules and misled government officials. They checked the details with Sohail Khan as well as the hotel before filing a police complaint against them. The hotel management told the officials that the three had not checked in for quarantine.
Civic officials visited Sohail’s residence on Nargis Dutt Road in Khar (West) on Monday and he told them about his arrival along with his brother and son. Sohail reportedly told officials that they had all tested negative for the virus, so decided to go home directly.
BMC officials said they have taken up the issue seriously as such instances can increase the spread of the Coronavirus.
The assistant municipal commissioner of H-West Ward wrote to the police seeking action against the three. Thereafter, police recorded a BMC health officer’s statement to register the FIR. The health officer is a complainant in the case.
Officials said they will inquire with family members and friends of the three to find out if any of them have Coronavirus symptoms. Incidentally, Sohail’s brother, actor Salman Khan, celebrated his birthday on December 27.
After the outbreak of the UK strain, from December 22, the government had made it compulsory for people arriving from or via Europe, the Gulf or South African countries to undergo seven days of mandatory quarantine at a hotel or a BMC centre. They can be discharged from these facilities after seven days once they test negative for the virus and need to home-quarantine themselves for seven more days thereafter.

Group returned from UAE, told officials they will head to Taj Land's End for isolation, but headed home instead; all had tested negative
Shirish Vaktania (MID-DAY; January 5, 2021)
The Khar police have registered a case against actors Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan and his son Nirvaan Khan after a BMC health official filed a complaint that the trio evaded institutional quarantine of seven days after returning from the UAE last month. Police said that on arriving in the city on December 25, they underwent COVID-19 tests at the airport and told the officials concerned that they were headed to hotel Taj Land's End for quarantine, but instead they went to their Bandra West residence.
The police will now take the actors to the Richardson and Cruddas COVID centre in Byculla for quarantine. According to the police, the case was registered at the Khar police station on Monday. The cops registered the case under section 188 of IPC read with section 3 of the Epidemic Diseases Act.
Complainant Dr Sanjay Dattatray Funde is a health official at H-West ward. He conducts surveys to carry out RT-PCR tests and send COVID positive patients to hospitals and quarantine centres. According to the FIR, on Monday Dr Funde found out that the actors had arrived in the city last month and were supposed to quarantine themselves at the Taj Land's End in Bandra but they didn't. After undergoing tests at the airport, the reports for which were negative, they went to their Galaxy apartment at Nargis Dutt road in Bandra West. As per the civic body's rules, whoever returns to the city from other countries are supposed to undergo institutional quarantine for seven days even if they test COVID negative. The FIR further mentions that when Dr Funde rushed to Galaxy apartment to check, he found the trio at their residence.
"A BMC health official approached us and we registered a case under section 188 of IPC read with section 3 of the Epidemic Diseases Act. They returned from Dubai on December 25 and were asked to quarantine themselves in a hotel, but they went home and violated the rules," said Chaitanya S, Mumbai police public relation officer.

Mumbai: Kangana Ranaut landed in Mumbai on Wednesday, bearing an arsenal of tweets against chief minister Uddhav Thackeray and BMC which kept circulating in social media through the day. She also posted videos of the demolition of unauthorised extensions in her bungalow, quoted the Bombay high court stay order in her favour, and questioned the silence of “fancy feminists, Bullywood activists, candle march groups and award vapsi gang” which have “no comments on what High Court said about open murder of law and order in Maharashtra”. “Well done, thank you for proving me right always, you all deserve the treatment you get from me," she tweeted.
“Such is the wheel of life. Remember time does not remain the same forever. In fact, I feel you have obliged me. I am now feeling what Kashmiri Pandits must have felt. I will make a film on Ayodhya as well as on Kashmir,” she went on.
At the airport, when she landed, Shiv Sena activists, most of them ground staff of the airport authority, had organised a protest, sources said. With saffron and even black flags, displaying placards with a message condemning the actress over her remarks, they shouted slogans against her. There were also a few from the Republican Party of India (A) and Karni Sena who had gathered in support of her.
Union minister Ramdas Athawale had declared that his RPI workers would provide protection to Kangana during her stay in Mumbai. The sloganeering went on for 40-45 minutes. However, all activists dispersed after they realised she had left the airport through another exit amid police protection.
Earlier, images of her at Chandigarh airport surrounded by a phalanx of security guards drew howls of dismay and cheers in equal measure on social media. Many lamented “wastage of taxpayer money” while others drew comparisons with similar favours done by previous dispensations. The actor was granted Y-Plus security by the Union home ministry in the light of the present controversy.
As for her tweets, they continued intermittently through the day. She said no due process was followed by the BMC in its actions and that the demolitions at her bungalow had damaged her furniture. “Paid sources of Maha government are spreading fake info, BMC never sent any notice to me until yesterday, in fact I got all the documents cleared myself from BMC for renovations. @mybmc at least have the courage to stand by your audacity. Why lie now,” she said.
She claimed a notice against another property owned by her “was not just to me but to entire building... this is not my flat issue but a building issue which builder needs to deal with... this building belongs to Sharad Pawar we bought the flat from his partner so he is answerable for this not me...”
BJP supporters rallied in her favour, some calling her a “lioness” that subdued the state, others offering to back her in her fight.

BJP slams Maha govt, CM for demolition, calls it vindictive act, case of intolerance
New Delhi: Senior BJP functionaries, including Union ministers, on Wednesday slammed the Shiv Sena-led Maharashtra government over razing of some “illegal alterations” at the bungalow of actress Kangana Ranaut in Mumbai, calling it an example of “intolerance” and “vindictive action” against a woman who was not afraid of speaking the truth.
“An immoral, intolerant government which intimidates its people will perish on its own. A vindictive government can’t threaten its people for too long,” said water resources minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.
Senior BJP member and former general secretary (organisation) Ram Lal tweeted: ‘The foundations of truth can’t be shaken by hammers of lies’. BJP’s IT cell head Amit Malviya shared data about performance of the Uddhav Thackeray government, alleging how the “Mahaagadi” government’s priorities are misplaced.
BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said Kangana lost a few bricks but the Thackeray government lost its reputation across the country. “One should ponder as if bricks are more valuable than reputation,” he added.
Party’s secretary Satya Kumar claimed BMC had not taken action against illegal constructions but action against Kangana was taken out of vendetta. “As per a Maharashtra govternment affidavit to Bombay HC, there were around 2.5 lakh illegal constructions in Mumbai, including small buildings to multi-storeyed apartment complexes. How many of them have been demolished, Uddhavji?” Kumar asked.

On May 23, a couple of days after it was announced that domestic flights would resume from May 25, Himansh Kohli booked himself two tickets on one of the first Mumbai-Delhi flights. “I wanted to go home ever since the Coronavirus lockdown was announced, but I could not. I planned to travel via road, however, I wasn’t sure about the situation on the highway. Then I read that domestic flights were set to resume, and as soon as I got a notification that bookings were open, I booked my tickets.”
But his travel plans were uncertain till he actually boarded the flight since the Maharashtra government was still mulling over whether to allow air travel. “Till yesterday morning I wasn’t sure if I would be able to board the flight or not. There were no updates from the airline’s side as to whether my flight was cancelled or rescheduled. My flight was at 7 am, and I reached two hours early. There were flights being cancelled on the spot. My cousin was supposed to take a flight an hour before me, but her flight got cancelled at the last minute,” he says. Luckily, Himansh’s flight wasn’t cancelled and he managed to return home to Delhi yesterday.
With the rules at the airport quite strict, the actor says this travel experience was quite different. “We were asked to follow social distancing while queuing up at the airport’s gate. They checked our temperature and verified our ID. We had to show our printed boarding pass and get luggage tags from home. They also asked us to show the ‘safe’ certificate on the Aarogya Setu app. Some passengers also got medical certificates from their doctor,” says Himansh, adding, “The airport itself was quite empty. People were wearing masks and gloves and carrying sanitisers with them. Since it was the first day of flights resuming, people looked a little scared.”
The boarding process was also very different, says Himansh. “While earlier, passengers used to rush when boarding started and break the queue, now everyone was boarding and deboarding according to their row numbers,” he says, adding “Once inside the plane, everything looked just like before. However, there was no food provided; only a bottle of water. While lavatories were accessible, we were advised against using them. I had booked two seats for myself — the middle and window seats — to minimise contact with anyone. I understand it might seem wasteful, but our life is more important. I felt lucky and fortunate that I reached Delhi safely. My dad came to pick me up, but there were no hugs at the airport or at home. He also sanitised the car once we reached home, and everyone was like ‘Go, take a shower first.’ Since I came from another state, I will be in home quarantine willingly for at least 14 days.”
Irrfan Khan’s son Babil is back from London

The actor’s wife, Sutapa Sikdar, is surprised that Babil was allowed to leave after a thermal check at the airport, no home quarantine was suggested
BOMBAY TIMES (March 20, 2020)
Yesterday, we had told you about Irrfan’s son Babil, who is studying in London, being unable to return home because of flight restrictions in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak. His worried mother, Sutapa Sikdar, had taken to social media, seeking government’s intervention in the matter.
The family has finally heaved a sigh of relief with Babil reaching Mumbai in the early hours of Thursday. Sutapa was at the airport to receive him. Once again, she took to her social media account and wrote, “Thanks everyone for the prayers and wishes. Babil is back to India safely. Gratitude to all of you who offered help.”
She went on to add that her experience at the airport was deeply disturbing. Sutapa further wrote, “The flight was late over an hour. While I waited in the airport, I looked around and was aghast. Many had their masks like neck bands and all the hugs and kisses upon arrival made me swoon. I made such a fuss; I took two cars. I didn’t let my child sit in mine and didn’t hug him, was armed with my gloves and scarf so were both the drivers. In the airport, they did a thermal check and let him go. I was really surprised that at third stage in which India is, they did not suggest home quarantine. They made him fill a form with his phone number. I hope it’s not a formality. I will eagerly await for their call after couple of days to check on him. I felt stupid because I think my staff will be careless from now on and think I am mental. That when the govt is not thinking its dangerous, I am isolating my child in an empty flat (well equipped, though) for fourteen days. Because I had mugged up in childhood ‘saavdhani hati durghatana ghati’. Stay safe and take care at the cost of being called mental. And thanks for all the help! (sic)”

Irrfan Khan's wife Sutapa tells mid-day how son Babil returned from UK amid COVID-19 outbreak, kept under self-quarantine for two weeks at their Madh Island residence
Upala KBR (MID-DAY; March 20, 2020)
It has been a frantic few days for Irrfan and wife Sutapa Sikdar, but last morning, the mother of two wore a broad smile as she welcomed son Babil at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai. Babil, who has been pursuing a bachelor's degree in film studies at the Westminster University in London, found himself stuck in the British capital as the United Kingdom braced for a partial lockdown while the Indian government issued travel restrictions amid the Coronavirus pandemic.
To bring attention to the plight of Babil and several other students in foreign countries, Sikdar, on March 17, had shared a post on Facebook that read, "As a mother, I am worried as hell, but I don't understand when the Indian government has been so good with other students, why [is] it not helping Indian students stuck in London? Let the students come back home, my earnest appeal to GoI. (sic)"
Her efforts bore fruit as Babil, 19, returned to India yesterday, and has since been quarantined at their Madh Island home. A source reveals, "Babil's flight was late by over an hour. After he was let out of the airport post the screening, Sutapa whisked him off to their Madh residence where he will be under self-quarantine for 14 days. They are taking the necessary precautions."
Talking to mid-day, Sikdar shares that the past few days have taken a toll on her emotionally. "We were panicking as we could not get in touch with the airlines' offices. It was a nightmare to book tickets to Mumbai. Thankfully, the British Airways helped Babil and we were told [on Wednesday] that he is flying back."
The relief in her voice is evident as she speaks about her elder son. "Thank God Babil has returned safely! [When in London], he was anxious but put on a brave front because he knew that I would be stressed otherwise. For now, we have kept him in home quarantine for 14 days. His classes will be held online."

Elli AvrRam was spotted in a wheelchair at the Mumbai airport recently, leaving people worried about her health. The actress was on her way back from Delhi.
When we reached out to Elli, she told us, “I was fine the entire day. I had just finished my first dance act at a corporate event in Delhi, when I started feeling dizzy. Initially, I thought that maybe, I was dehydrated or my blood pressure had dropped. So, I took salt and sugar with water, but it didn’t help. I then became breathless and collapsed. I woke up at the hospital. All I could think of was, how do I quickly get well so that I can go back to performing the second act of my performance. I love my work, but I guess sometimes, we ignore what our body is trying to tell us.”
The doctor told Elli that exhaustion was the cause of her situation. Now back in Mumbai, the actress is resting it out for a few days. She concluded, "I have been told that there's nothing to worry. I am much better now.”
It was strange that no one recognised Christopher Nolan and Robert Pattinson-Vikrant Patankar

Engineering student Vikrant Patankar, the only fan who was able to meet the Hollywood filmmaker and the Twilight star at Mumbai’s international airport, shared his experience with Bombay Times
Renuka Vyavahare (BOMBAY TIMES; September 15, 2019)
Batman fans will be delighted to know that the next Dark Knight — Robert Pattinson — is currently in Mumbai to shoot his upcoming action thriller, Tenet, directed by Christopher Nolan. Known to be quite secretive about his work and travel, the director and his team arrived in Mumbai on Friday morning from Denmark for a 15-day schedule. While a set is under construction close to a SOBO five star, we are told that the shoot is likely to begin tomorrow. Interestingly, former Batman, Christian Bale, was also in the city for a film promotion-cum-vacation in November last year.
Engineering student Vikrant Patankar, the only fan who met and clicked pictures with Nolan and his team at Mumbai’s international terminal on their arrival, shared his experience with Bombay Times. He said, “I tracked a Nolan fan forum online, which led me to a Danish website that had their flight details. I was the only one who landed at the airport, hoping to see them. I waited for an hour, but it was worth it as I not only got an autograph from Nolan, but also clicked pictures with his director of photography Hoyte van Hoytema (Oscar nominee for Dunkirk), and actors Robert Pattinson and John David Washington. Surprisingly, they took the general exit and not the VIP one at 7.40 am. It was strange that no one recognized them, and they walked out without any fuss. The team was polite and obliged for pictures. My day was made.” Vikrant’s pictures have gone viral on social media.
Bombay Times was the first to tell you about Christopher Nolan’s first ever visit to the city along with visual artiste Tacita Dean in March last year. Nolan, along with founder of the Film Heritage Foundation, Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, presented an initiative that supports the cause of film preservation and restoration during their stay here. Those familiar with Nolan’s work know that he has long been an outspoken champion of celluloid over digital, firmly committed to shooting on film. Tenet is reportedly one of Nolan’s most expensive undertakings to date and is set in the world of international espionage. Besides, John David Washington, Robert Pattinson and Elizabeth Debicki, the film also features Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Kenneth Branagh, Clémence Poésy, our very own Dimple Kapadia and Michael Caine.

MUMBAI MIRROR (July 27, 2017)
The 31-year-old actress, who recently wrapped up work on Sabaash Naidu, her first film with veteran actor-filmmaker father Kamal Haasan, was spotted arriving at the airport to pick up Corsale. The couple greeted each other with a hug before their car sped away into the night.
We hear the London-based theatre actor will be in the Bay till next Monday. While reports suggest that the duo had recently met with Haasan Sr, fuelling talk of an impending wedding, Shruti’s spokesperson denied it, saying, “There are no wedding bells here. They are just spending some time together as he is based in London and she shuttles between Chennai and Mumbai.”

Sanyukta Iyer (MUMBAI MIRROR; June 9, 2017)
In a sea of airport looks that surface like clockwork every day now, a Michael Kors-clad Rani Mukerji stood out on Wednesday night and not just because her public turns have been too few and far in-between in the recent past. The actress, who was on her way to a brief family vacation with one-year-old daughter Adira, looked strikingly svelte in her satin jumpsuit with tan accents and effortlessly at ease in front of the flashbulb.
The 39-year-old actress was last seen on the big screen as a fiery cop in Pradeep Sarkar’s Mardaani, for which she had lost 13 kg, before entering marital bliss with filmmaker Aditya Chopra in April, 2014. The couple welcomed daughter Adira in December, 2015. After a family vacation in Europe late last year, Rani marked the New Year by throwing herself into prep for her comeback film with endurance training.
“She was extremely focussed and disciplined and never missed a single workout session, which made the road to weight-loss easier. On April 4, she was in picture-perfect shape for her first take,” a source close to the development told Mirror, adding that the actress has lost 20-25 kg in the run-up to her screen comeback. “Within a year, Rani is looking better than ever. She wrapped up her next film last Monday and has been enjoying her time back on set too. The film was shot entirely in Mumbai in a start-to-finish, 38-day schedule,” the source added.
Rani, who’s one of the few leading ladies among her contemporaries to immediately get back to work after pregnancy, was delighted that the crew made sure she had enough time with her daughter on the set and decided to throw them a surprise. “Rani got personalised products for each unit member and gifted them goodies from different luxury designers and popular labels as a gesture of gratitude,” the source added.
Justin Bieber's abrupt exit from India after his concert stumps Mumbaikars

Justin Bieber's exit from
Mumbai was as hush-hush as his arrival on Wednesday at 1.30 am. While it
was speculated that he would tour India for a few days, it came as a
surprise when he left for South Africa soon after his concert in Navi
Mumbai the same night. The hype around his visit turned out to be a
damp squib, as he skipped all the plans chalked out for him, including
attending high profile parties.
A source revealed, “Justin reached the concert venue at 7.55 pm, was on stage at 8.10 pm and made a backdoor exit at 9.45 pm. He headed straight to the Kalina airport, from where he boarded his private jet to Johannesburg, where he will perform on May 14. He chose to travel by road both ways, though a chopper was kept on hold for him.“
However, in what turned out to be a hurried 22-hour visit to India (since he extended his stay in Dubai), the pop star managed to soak in the sights and sounds of Mumbai as much as possible.
The source adds, “Before heading for his concert, Justin went to the slums in Reay Road and Shivaji Nagar (in Govandi), accompanied by security in-charge Shera and his personal bodyguards. He interacted with underprivileged children and played football with them. He also visited the Deonar dumping ground and finally, headed to a shopping mall in Navi Mumbai, where he grabbed a drink at an American coffee shop. He even visited the Gateway of India at 4 am on Wednesday morning but that's all he could manage in a day's time.“
While Justin crooned to his hit song, Let Me Love You, at the concert, he didn't give Mumbai enough time to love him back.

MID-DAY (May 12, 2017)
Immediately after Justin Bieber wrapped up his act at the D Y Patil Stadium on
Wednesday night, he disappeared into thin air. No one, except his inner
circle, knew where he was headed. The paps lost sight of him as soon as
he left the stadium. He vamoosed from the scene only to be spotted later
in the night making his exit from the airport’s Kalina Gate No 8.
Looked like Mumbai’s humid weather had got to the pop idol. He was
spotted making his way to the terminal barebodied.
But Beiber had other plans up his sleeve. Those in the know state they were clueless where he took off to. The organisers had said he would be visiting Delhi and Agra after Mumbai. But till the time of going to press, no one had any clue of whether he was in India or had left the country. To add to the bizarre turn of events, the public relations representative of St Regis, the Lower Parel hotel where Bieber stayed during his brief day-long visit to Mumbai, continues to maintain that he never checked in. But then what can you expect of a 23-year-old who also happens to be a pop icon? Bieber at the airport’s Kalina Gate, in what seemed like his departure from city.

MUMBAI MIRROR (December 23, 2016)
Actor-couple Ranveer Singh
and Deepika Padukone left for Dubai on Wednesday night to bring in
Christmas and New Year away from the hustle and bustle of the Maximum
City. Dressed in colour-coordinated all-black, the Padmavati co-stars
entered the airport a few minutes apart in a bid to avoid the media
glare.
A source reveals, “They reached the airport at around 10 pm. Ranveer, who was the first to arrive, posed for a few pictures. Deepika was spotted making a more hurried entry soon after. While the shutterbugs tried to coax them into revealing their destination, they evaded the question with a smile. “

Ayushmann Khurrana's actor brother Aparshakti charged for hitting CISF guard

Sanyukta Iyer (MUMBAI MIRROR; December 22, 2016)
In the last week of October, Aparshakti who was to take a flight out of Mumbai, got into a scuffle with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) when they tried to stop him from entering a restricted area in the airport. He was frazzled because he had lost his baggage and began to argue, engaging in a fist fight with a CISF guard.
“He dashed into the restricted area but a few passengers caught him and he was arrested immediately by the Sahar Airport Police,” reveals an eye-witness on the scene.
Confirming the same, Baburao Mukhedkar, senior police inspector, Sahar police station, informed Mirror. “Aparshakti was sent into 24-hour remand for assaulting and threatening people in uniform.”
When his lawyer showed up, he told the police that he was an actor and Ayushmann Khurrana’s younger brother.
Ayushmann rushed to Aparshakti’s rescue, but, refusing to grant him any concessions, the cops made the actor-musician wait at the station for 30 hours before Ayushmann could post bail, apologizing profusely for his brother’s misbehaviour.
The Mumbai police has now filed a 50-page charge sheet which is going to be presented in court this week. “Aparshakti has been served notice and has to be present in court too. If found guilty, he may get a three-five year prison sentence,” informs a source close to the development.
Aparshakti who will be seen in a prominent role in Aamir Khan’s upcoming wrestling-drama Dangal, hosts a cricket show for a TV channel. The Chandigarh-born actor, who was a popular radio and television jockey in Delhi, had also captained the under-19 Haryana cricket team.
Last year, he began prepping for his Bollywood debut and has reportedly signed a couple of film projects. He was introduced to the industry by his actor brother.
