DRISHYAM 2 was fantastic in week two with collections of 57.50 crore nett which is a post pandemic record for original Hindi content beating the 50 crore nett of BRAHMASTRA, 49 crore nett of BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2 and the 45.50 crore nett of SOORYAVANSHI. Also the numbers of these films have been beaten comfortably and today any upward trend in business is good news. The two week business of the film is 160 crore nett

The collections are lower than THE KASHMIR FILES but this film is kept aside for comparisons as the box office is not organic like the films mentioned above. This is not to say the film would not have put up good numbers without corporate and individual sponsors but they would be far lower. DRISHYAM 2 will have have a chance to record better collections than this film also in week three as this sponsored support for THE KASHMIR FILES was less in week three and even less in week four and then faded away after that.

The second week collections of DRISHYAM 2 are also the second highest ever for an Ajay Devgn starrer after TANHAJI: THE UNSUNG WARRIOR, beating the 46 crore nett in GOLMAAL AGAIN comfortably. In terms of all time second week business, it is the 16th highest ever beating the likes of BAJIRAO MASTANI, SULTAN, GOOD NEWWZ and HOUSEFULL 4.

DRISHYAM 2 continues to be rock steady all over as it collects 5 crore nett on its second Tuesday to take its total over 150 crore nett. The second week collections may finish around the 58 crore nett which would be a 43% drop only and it remains to be seen if this can be repeated in week three or even bettered. 

The first week saw DRISHYAM 2 having lower collections than BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2 in Delhi/UP, Rajasthan, and CI as BHOOL BHULAIYA 2 was more mass commercial and these circuits are much more receptive to films with more commercial elements initially. But in the second week, DRISHYAM 2 has started to beat BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2 in these circuits also.

The 200 crore nett mark is there for DRISHYAM 2 and the 230 crore nett of BRAHMASTRA is on. It will mean DRISHYAM 2 and BRAHMASTRA getting over 200 crore nett and if CIRKUS can also do the same it will be 3 films over 200 crore nett in 2022 which is not bad and shows that box office potential is there. THE KASHMIR FILES is also there which would make it four though you have to question whether THE KASHMIR FILES can get 200 crore nett without the support of sponsored shows from corporates and individuals.

DRISHYAM 2 is heading for an excellent second week as its second Monday remained above 5 crore nett with collections of 5.25 crore nett. The film has collected 146 crore nett in eleven days and is still going strong all over the country.

The film is now trending better than all the original Hindi releases post pandemic except for THE KASHMIR FILES. The second week is heading for a 57-58 crore nett total which is easily better than SOORYAVANSHI and BRAHMASTRA.

DRISHYAM 2 is also showing that when the audience accepts a film today, it does more business than it would have done pre pandemic but the case is the opposite when a film is rejected where business is far less than pre pandemic times. This could be that a larger chunk of the audience only comes out when they feel its worth a trip to the cinemas or could be that there is not much competition out there at the moment. So this allows a liked film to run for far longer with more showcasing.

DRISHYAM 2 scored an excellent second weekend of 38.50 crore nett which is the highest post pandemic for an outright Hindi film not including THE KASHMIR FILES. The film edged past BRAHMASTRA which was a little over 38 crore nett and was comfortably better than the likes SOORYAVANSHI and BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2 which were around the 30 crore nett mark.

Thee total collections of the film are now 141 crore nett and it is heading for a comfortable 200 crore nett plus total. The new release BHEDIYA hardly made a dent into its box office as it maintained strong collections all over. The Friday may been hit but it was compensated on Saturday with some extraordinary growth. There will be no competition like BHEDIYA no for the next two weeks.

The drop in the second weekend is just 38% which is fantastic and if this 40% trend drops continue then it could challenge the numbers of BRAHMASTRA (Hindi). The films was fantastic in Gujarat/Saurashtra again taking in 5.50 crore nett apprx over second weekend showing a 15% ratio on the circuit.

DRISHYAM 2 had an extraordinary second Saturday as it collected 14 crore nett which was a huge jump of 85% plus. The jump in mass pockets was more on the second Saturday than the bigger multiplexes which shows the sort of run the film is on now.

There were many centres in CP Berar, CI and Gujarat/Saurashtra which were more than doubling their collections on Saturday compared to Friday and there will be further growth on Sunday. The collections of the film are now almost 125 crore nett and the film is pretty much sure to collect 200 crore nett as now this sort of Saturday jump looks like being the story for a couple of weeks more.

The film should go ahead of the likes of BRAHMASTRA and SOORYAVANSHI in the sense that DRISHYAM 2 maybe collecting more than those of films on the second Saturday. This will be the first time that DRISHYAM 2 will be collecting more than those films but it remains to be seen what the growth is on Sunday and does it actually go ahead of the two which stand at the top of the charts post pandemic for outright Hindi films and an organic box office.

DRISHYAM 2 continued to the rule the box office as it collected more than the new release BHEDIYA despite being in its eighth day. DRISHYAM 2 collected 7.50 crore nett appx on day eight which took its overall numbers to 110.50 crore nett.

The drop from Thursday is around 10% and that is mainly due to the loss of cinemas due to the release of BHEDIYA. If BHEDIYA had not released, then this film could have been doing as much as Thursday if not a little more. This ground will probably be covered over the weekend as growth will be exceptional.

DRISHYAM 2 is on a phenomenal run in Mumbai circuit where it is sure to beat BRAHMASTRA and may even beat THE KASHMIR FILES. THE KASHMIR FILES had sponsored shows and what not to take the film to 76 crore nett in Mumbai but DRISHYAM 2 will be all organic if it reaches the mark.. Delhi/UP is also doing well considering the film is low on gloss and commercial elements. The film will beat the SOORYAVANSHI numbers in Delhi/UP and In east Punjab also.

DRISHYAM 2 also had a strong first week overseas as it collected $3.5 million and held up strongly in all markets. The film added 50% on the weekdays to its weekend total which is superb trending for overseas as the normal is around 30-40%.

The film will do very well in overseas and there looks to be potential for business to cross the $6 million mark though a lot will depend on the second weekend. The film has also crossed the 150 crore mark worldwide and this is the fourth time it has happened for an Ajay Devgn starrer. 

GOLMAAL AGAIN was 206 crore, SINGHAM RETURNS was 173 crore and TANHAJI: THE UNSUNG WARRIOR was 155 crore but all these were during pre pandemic and better times. Actually it should be said better times for bad films; so when its a liked film like DRISHYAM 2, it hardly matters whether it is pre pandemic or post pandemic.
