DRISHYAM 2 continued to the rule the box office as it collected more than the new release BHEDIYA despite being in its eighth day. DRISHYAM 2 collected 7.50 crore nett appx on day eight which took its overall numbers to 110.50 crore nett.

The drop from Thursday is around 10% and that is mainly due to the loss of cinemas due to the release of BHEDIYA. If BHEDIYA had not released, then this film could have been doing as much as Thursday if not a little more. This ground will probably be covered over the weekend as growth will be exceptional.

DRISHYAM 2 is on a phenomenal run in Mumbai circuit where it is sure to beat BRAHMASTRA and may even beat THE KASHMIR FILES. THE KASHMIR FILES had sponsored shows and what not to take the film to 76 crore nett in Mumbai but DRISHYAM 2 will be all organic if it reaches the mark.. Delhi/UP is also doing well considering the film is low on gloss and commercial elements. The film will beat the SOORYAVANSHI numbers in Delhi/UP and In east Punjab also.

DRISHYAM 2 also had a strong first week overseas as it collected $3.5 million and held up strongly in all markets. The film added 50% on the weekdays to its weekend total which is superb trending for overseas as the normal is around 30-40%.

The film will do very well in overseas and there looks to be potential for business to cross the $6 million mark though a lot will depend on the second weekend. The film has also crossed the 150 crore mark worldwide and this is the fourth time it has happened for an Ajay Devgn starrer. 

GOLMAAL AGAIN was 206 crore, SINGHAM RETURNS was 173 crore and TANHAJI: THE UNSUNG WARRIOR was 155 crore but all these were during pre pandemic and better times. Actually it should be said better times for bad films; so when its a liked film like DRISHYAM 2, it hardly matters whether it is pre pandemic or post pandemic.
