WILL KIS KISKO PYAAR KAROON 2 EXCEL DESPITE THE DHURANDHAR WAVE?

Kapil Sharma made a superb debut with the 2015 comic caper Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon. It opened at Rs. 7.68 crores, surpassing all expectations. The film was made at limited costs and it ended up collecting Rs. 42.12 crores in its lifetime, which was a decent amount. Hence, a lot is expected from its sequel, Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2, which will release tomorrow, Friday, December 12.

Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon brings back Kapil Sharma and this time, he’s joined by Manjot Singh, Hira Warina, Tridha Choudhary, Parul Gulati, Ayesha Khan and the late Asrani. The trailer is very funny and it brings back the joy of the '90s comic capers featuring Govinda.

Sadly, the buzz for the film is very low. There’s limited awareness of its release and moreover, last week’s Dhurandhar has become a surprise blockbuster. It had a slow start, but now, it has picked up big time and will be the first choice for the moviegoers in Week 2 as well. This has further dented the prospects of Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2.

Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 is expected to open around Rs. 2-3 crores, which is too low, especially considering the opening the first part had, that too more than 10 years ago. Hopefully, if the word of mouth is positive, it’ll see a jump in the collections over the weekend and then hold steady over the week.

As for Dhurandhar, it had a modest start, collecting Rs. 24 crores on Friday. On Saturday, it jumped to Rs. 27 crores while on Sunday, it collected Rs. 35 crores. On Monday, films usually fall by 50%. But Dhurandhar collected Rs. 20.50 crores. On Tuesday, it stunned the trade as it earned Rs. 25 crores, despite no Tuesday discount offer.

Dhurandhar has collected Rs. 132 crores and the first week collections will be around Rs. 175 crores. If it holds strongly in Week 2, it can cross the Rs. 300 crore mark and even go beyond.
