Jigra Trailer Gets Big Love From Director Sujoy Ghosh: "Good To Exist In Times Of Alia Bhatt"
Box Office India Trade Network

JIGRA collected around 4.50 crore nett on day one which is on the lower side but this film got hit in Mumbai due to Navratri and Marathi releases. The figure should have gone towards 5 crore nett if all was normal which gives a better look to the opening day number.

The opening number is still decent as the content looks towards that art side but the problem arises as it features a star like Alia Bhatt and hence, the number will be seen as low. Basically, its not up to the mark to the face value of the film.

The film is mainly for metros and that is where the problem lies as the audience is so limited and the film has to be really loved by this audience for it to go anywhere at the box office. This has become tougher post pandemic as earlier, many films used to get numbers with only the metro crowd and some even got to 100 crore nett.

There should be good growth for the film on Saturday as its a big holiday and the Mumbai area has to cover the shortfall of day one and here this film is more of a film for the likes of Mumbai city and Pune than VICKY VIDYA KA WOH WALA VIDEO. The film should eventually be best in Mumbai and South but huge growth is crucial today.

The story of the film had potential especially with a star but when the treatment becomes niche, then the box office will be a struggle especially outside the metros. The film had a Telugu version also but the collection would be just 5 lakhs or at best 10 lakhs nett.
------------------------------------------
JIGRA showed a jump of around 45% on Saturday which seems okay but it was a holiday for Dussehra and one would expect a bigger jump of 70% or even more. But with this jump, it seems more like a normal Saturday rather than a holiday Saturday. The film needed a bigger jump due to the first day being on the lower side.

It will be interesting to see where Sunday goes as that will tell what actually happened on Saturday. Normally when Saturday is a holiday, then Sunday would be flat or even drop especially for a metro heavy film like JIGRA. The two day numbers of the film are 11 crore which is not good and with limited mass support, it will be a surprise if Sunday helps the film much.

The two day numbers of JIGRA are as follows.
Friday - 4,50,00,000
Saturday - 6,50,00,000
TOTAL - 11,00,00,000 apprx
