Actor Aamir Khan and his ex-wife, director Kiran Rao, attended the screening of their film Laapataa Ladies at the Supreme Court on Friday. At the event, while talking about his motivation to produce the film, Khan also hinted at retiring from acting and pursuing production.

“During Covid, at the age of 56, I realized this is the last leg of my career... I might have 15 more years of active work left. I thought that I could do one film a year as an actor, but as a producer, I can [do] more films,” he said during an interaction with Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud, adding, “Laapataa Ladies is the first project in that sense. I want to promote this kind of talent and hopefully, I can produce four to five films a year.”

The screening was part of a gender sensitization programme and was held to commemorate the 75th year of the Supreme Court of India.

Aamir’s next is Sitaare Zameen Par, which he is producing as well. He is also producing two other films — son Junaid Khan’s next and Lahore 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, starring Sunny Deol.
