Ever since Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani released, the scene in which actors Shabana Azmi and Dharmendra kiss has been widely discussed. Some felt it was a welcome addition to the film, but a few found it inappropriate. Veteran actor Zarina Wahab finds these discussions “irrelevant”.

“We are actors. If the script demands something, there is no harm in doing it. Age mein kya rakha hai... If youngsters do the same thing, it’s considered alright. I find it funny when senior actors are seen through a different lens,” she tells us.

Having watched the film, Wahab finds the moment “cute and adorable”. “They (Dharmendra and Shabana) did it in the most graceful way. There was nothing awkward or indecent. Both Shabana and Dharam ji are senior actors as well as sensible, mature people. They understand what’s important for a film and what’s not. So, if they agreed to do a kissing scene, it must have been well thought out.” she says.

If offered a similar scene, however, Wahab says, “I won’t do it. Jawaani mein nahin kiya, budhaape mein kya karungi!”
