The song Layi Vi Na Gayi from Chalte Chalte is one of the most memorable ones for singer Sukhwinder Singh. “Recording Layi Vi Na Gayi was a great experience. It’s a romantic song, laden with emotions. (Late composer) Aadesh Srivastava’s composition and (lyricist) Javed Akhtar sahab’s writing made the number stand out. I gave it my 100% and that’s evident from the way it was received by the audience,” says the singer, adding, “The song earns a lot of love when I perform it at concerts even today. The fondness people have for it has only grown over the years. It’s the kind of song that never gets old.”

Sharing how actor Shah Rukh Khan encouraged him, Singh says, “Shah Rukh was present during the recording of the song and he was very encouraging... When we met during the recording of Satakli (Happy New Year; 2014), he told me how impressed he was with Layi Vi Na Gayi. It was heartening to be appreciated for the song even after so many years.”
