Ranbir Kapoor Sets The Record Straight On Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar Song: 'Not Based On My Life'
Box Office India Trade Network

TU JHOOTHI MAIN MAKKAAR remained steady on Wednesday with collections in the 4.50-4.75 crore nett. Again there was a minimal drop from though it was a little more than yesterday as the mass markets holding at low levels on Monday and Tuesday had a fall on Wednesday which is normal for even films collecting well in these markets.

This takes the business of the film to 74.50 crore nett plus and it will close the extended week at a decent 79 crore nett. The holds are good after Monday as the film finds a level after a decent weekend. The film could have done very well if the opening five days were bigger as its difficult to cover ground for a big release if the weekend numbers don't quite do the job.

The second Friday is crucial as if it that hold around the 4 crore nett range, then the film will be a success theatrically. It will be middling business and it depends on how the industry sees this as far as the future of this genre goes.

The collections of TU JHOOTHI MAIN MAKKAAR over the first six days are as follows.
Wednesday 14,00,00,000 apprx
Thursday - 9,00,00,000 apprx
Friday - 8,50,00,000 apprx
Saturday - 13,75,00,000 apprx
Sunday - 14,50,00,000 apprx
Monday - 5,25,00,000 apprx
Tuesday - 5,00,00,000 apprx
Wednesday - 4,65,00,000 apprx
TOTAL - 74,65,00,000 apprx

TU JHOOTHI MAIN MAKKAAR had the seventh highest first week post pandemic for outright Hindi films with the insane 317 crore nett of PATHAAN ruling the roost. In terms of day one, TU JHOOTHI MAIN MAKKAAR was sixth which means the weekend was not quite there even though it was an extended five day weekend. The collections post the weekend were pretty good for the film.

The seven day numbers are pretty similar to '83 but that film was over the Christmas period though a a city like Delhi was hit by Covid-19 post the weekend which equals things out. Also, TU JHOOTHI MAIN MAKKAAR may not be that good in mass pockets but it is far better than '83 as a circuit like Rajasthan will cover the '83 lifetime in around ten days which means wider reach.

The first week numbers are 20 crore nett less than BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2 and that is the problem. The film may not be as strong as BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2; so its not going to compete over the long run but the seven day numbers had to be closer to BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2 as its a far bigger film with a bigger cast and on top, it had the advantage of Holi. Considering the trend on weekdays, if the film could have done around 85 crore nett in seven days it would probably be on its way to becoming a HIT but now will have to settle for less.

The top ten opening weeks for original Hindi content post pandemic are as follows.
1. Pathaan - 3,17,06,00,000 (ALL TIME RECORD)
2. Brahmastra - 1,42,91,00,000
3. Sooryavanshi - 1,20,36,00,000
4. Drishyam 2 - 1,02,37,00,000
5. The Kashmir Files - 96,11,00,000
6. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 - 90,78,00,000

10. Vikram Vedha - 58,77,00,000
