After the roaring success of Kantara (2022), actor-filmmaker Rishab Shetty has confirmed the release of highly-anticipated Kantara 2. Speaking at an event in Bengaluru, that was organised to celebrate the 100-day theatrical run of the film, Shetty shared that Kantara 2 is indeed in the making and will hit the theatres in 2024. The 39-year-old also revealed that the upcoming film will be a prequel to the blockbuster.

“We thank the audience for their immense love and support for Kantara. With the blessing of almighty Daiva, the film has successfully completed 100 days and I would like to take this opportunity to announce the prequel of the film,” said Shetty at the event.

Talking about the prequel he added, “What you have seen is actually Part 2, Part 1 will come next year. The idea came to my mind while I was shooting for Kantara. It is because the history (of the film) has more depth to it. Currently, we are digging for more details. As research is still underway, it would be early to reveal details about the film.”
