Mumbai: Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s wife Aaliya Siddiqui on Thursday approached the Amboli police through her lawyer, claiming she had returned the money to co-producer Manju Gaharwal after the latter levelled allegations of cheating.

Gaharwal, co-producer and creative of Aaliya’s first production venture ‘Holy Cow’, had approached the Amboli police claiming Aaliya had cheated her of Rs. 31 lakhs which she had invested in the film. Apart from the money, she also alleged Aaliya had not given her due credit for the film.

Gaharwal said in her complaint that she had known Aaliya since 2005. She also knew that Aaliya wanted to become a producer. The Holy Cow project started when Aaliya asked Gaharwal to become the creative producer of af ilm and look for cast. The cheques given to the cast also bounced, claimed Gaharwal.

Advocate Rizwan Siddiquee for Aaliya said “the evidence taken on record prima facie prove acts of theft, extortion, criminal intimidation and defamation on the part of the accused Garhwal.”
