Contrary to reports that actors Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor’s wedding has been postponed, her half-brother Rahul Bhatt, who’s been quoted in the reports, confirms to us that the wedding is happening on the pre-decided date.
“The wedding is happening this week. I haven’t mentioned the date to anyone. All I can say is that it is a matter of time till you see an official release from their side. I can assure you it will happen before April 20,” Rahul says.
Reluctant to give out any more information about the wedding, he hints that the venue might change due to the increased media presence outside Kapoor’s home. “The venue might shift to Taj Hotel, Colaba to avoid paparazzi. The arrangements are being done as we talk,” says Bhatt, adding, “I have been told to switch off my phone, but I can’t do that because I have to be accessible to my clients.”
As for the other wedding preparations, we have learnt that it is kept on a strict budget. Also, there won’t be a grand sangeet ceremony or bachelor party. “There is no elaborate sangeet planned, they may dance at the mehendi function,” a source says, adding that there will be a joota chupai rasam, too. “Ranbir is likely to give Rs. 1 lakh to Alia’s girl gang,” shares the source.
“Even the photographers have been chosen by Alia and Grishma (Shah, Bhatt’s manager) and they haven’t shot any celebrity wedding before. As for the mandap, a female set designer has been brought on board,” says the source.
Actors Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan, and filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali have been reportedly invited for the varmala ceremony.
