BLACK WIDOW is heading to be the top grosser in the USA post the pandemic as it chases down the numbers of FAST & FURIOUS 9. The film would have been the first $200 million film post the pandemic but it had a almost simultaneous release on Disney Plus which has no doubt hit business.

The film stands at around $143 million after its first two weeks while FAST & FURIOUS 9 is at $158 million after four weeks. After two weeks, FAST & FURIOUS 9 had collected $130 million. So BLACK WIDOW is ahead by $13 million if we compare similar stages.

FAST & FURIOUS 9 has shown good holds as last weekend, it only dropped around 33%. If this trend continues then in the final run the gap between BLACK WIDOW and FAST & FURIOUS may only be $5-8 million, depending on how the former holds. The Coronavirus cases are also rising in US and it remains to be seen how that affects the box office.

BLACK WIDOW also got the advantage of parts of Canada opening up in the second weekend which was also a factor for FAST & FURIOUS 9 but at a lower level. Both Black Widow and FAST & FURIOUS 9 have a shot at hitting the $175 million mark.

The top five films in US / Canada post the pandemic are as follows.
1. Fast & Furious 9 - $158 million (4 weeks)
2. A Quiet Place Part II - $156 million (8 weeks)
3. Black Widow - $143 million (2 weeks)
4. Godzilla vs. Kong - $100 million
5. Cruella - $84 million (8 weeks)
