A few days ago, Randhir Kapoor confirmed that his daughter Kareena Kapoor Khan and her husband, actor-producer Saif Ali Khan will soon be shifting out of Fortune Heights, their residence of 11 years, to a larger house in Satguru Sharan, a building next door. The couple, for the last several weeks, has been seen at the building monitoring the last leg of the work on the interiors of the house, which is spread across four floors.

Interior designer Darshini Shah, who has styled the couple’s new home, says, “Saif and Kareena’s new house is an extension of sorts of the old one. They were extremely comfortable in their house in Fortune Heights and just didn’t want to move out. So, the new house, which they should be moving into shortly, has a feel of the old pad, but it also meets their new set of requirements with their second baby on the way. It has a beautiful new nursery for the baby and Taimur has his own space, as he’s growing up. It’s a lot larger than their old house. It’s more spacious with beautiful terraces, a swimming pool, outdoor areas and open spaces, which have been landscaped. It has room for everyone.”

Elaborating on the couple’s interior aesthetics, she adds, “Both Saif and Kareena love understated luxury and comfort. They like their spaces to feel like their travel diaries. Everything they have at home is something they have collected over time and has a memory or a story attached to it. They love England and like the colonial-classic style of decor. Like their old home, even their new house has a library, artworks, antiques, candles and a certain kind of furniture.”

She further shares, “After Taimur was born, we made sure he has a nursery at home and his own little space. With their second baby on the way, we pulled out all stops and ensured that we wrap up everything in time for them to move into their new house. Even with the progressing pregnancy, Kareena has been hugely involved with the new house’s décor. She continues to check out the stuff and pick up things that she likes for the place. The house is almost ready to welcome the family.”
