It’s very romantic to wake up with a woman this beautiful every day-Saif Ali Khan

Vinay MR Mishra (BOMBAY TIMES; February 14, 2026)

For close to two decades, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan have defined – and defied – what it means to be a Bollywood power couple. Long before social media turned celebrity romance into a spectacle, they wore their love unapologetically, from choosing each other at the peak of their careers to building a family while remaining fiercely individual stars. Popularly christened Saifeena, they became Bollywood’s original ‘it’ couple. Kareena and Saif, who recently visited the Tiffany & Co. boutique in Mumbai, talk to us about quiet celebrations over grand gestures, friendship as the foundation of romance, raising children while protecting their individuality, and why – in a world full of responsibilities – love should never feel like just another mundane thing. Excerpts from the Valentine's Day special interview as followed...

‘If we’re together, unhurried, that’s celebration enough'
To start off, we ask them how they spend their Valentine’s Day. “We don’t plan grand gestures. We watch a movie, stay at home, lounge on the couch, and have a night in with pizza and some great wine or Chinese food,” says Saif. Kareena adds, “If we’re together and unhurried, that’s celebration enough.”

So, is there any Valentine's Day gift that Saif is planning to give Kareena? He replies, “I like to gift her when it feels right. Not just because the calendar says so.” She quickly agrees and adds, “It’s nicer when it comes with a thought behind it.”

‘We didn’t fall in love trying to impress anyone’
Next year marks two decades of them being together. They met on the sets of Tashan - the movie may not have been a success, but it led to a very successful union between the two. “We didn’t fall in love trying to impress anyone. We were working, talking, arguing, laughing and one day it just became obvious. That honesty is still the base of everything,” Saif reminisces. Kareena says, “We chose each other as people first. Everything else came later.”

‘It’s very romantic to wake up with a woman this beautiful every day’
Saif and Kareena have been an inspiration to many when it comes to love. Ask them how they feel about their love story being romanticized by many, and Kareena, in her trademark spunky style, declares, “I’d say the love story is far better in real life.”

Saif, on the other hand, elaborates, “It’s very romantic to wake up with a woman this beautiful every day. But the story has required a lot more than what meets the eye. Relationships are about romance but also about intent. And mostly friendship.”

How does their relationship look to them today? Kareena feels “settled and anchored, in the best way.” To that, Saif says, “I feel chosen every day by a wonderful woman, who is brilliant, beautiful and kind.”

‘Kareena is more romantic’
As Shah Rukh Khan once famously said, ‘Pyaar dosti hai’, for both Saif and Kareena, friendship came before romance, and it continues to define their relationship.

Kareena couldn’t agree more. “Completely! He’s still the person I want to gossip with at the end of the day.”

Saif chimes in, “And she’s the first person I want to share things with, good or bad.” Quiz them on who is more romantic, and Saif promptly responds, “She is!” She laughs and adds, “We both have different styles, but I will take that, I am.”

‘We just get each other without words’
From friends to partners to parents (to Taimur and Jeh), has anything changed? Kareena quickly explains, “What’s changed is perspective. What hasn’t changed is comfort. He is home!” Saif adds, “There’s no pretending. That’s a luxury in itself. The ease of being around someone is the best leisure.”

The two continue to live life on their own terms, in matters of family and love, too. “More than ever. Especially after children. Having Saifu by my side... is my favourite part of everyday life,” Kareena confesses.

Saif explains, “When you’re free with each other, everything else becomes easier. Life is full of chores, love can’t be one of them. We don’t have to explain anything to each other. We just get each other without words.”

I couldn’t sleep for months, says Kareena Kapoor on Saif Ali Khan’s attack

Couldn’t sleep for months: Kareena on Saif’s attack

HINDUSTAN TIMES (July 1, 2025)

Actor Kareena Kapoor Khan, 44, says coping with anxiety after her husband, actor Saif Ali Khan’s stabbing incident at their Mumbai home in January wasn’t easy. “I am still struggling with what it does to see someone there in your child’s room,”

Kareena said during a session at We The Women. Opening up about the incident for the first time, when an armed intruder attacked Saif, 54, near the room of their four-year-old son, Jeh, she added: “It’s common in the US, but in Mumbai, we’ve never really heard about such incidents. We have still not come to terms with it 100%. I was very anxious for the first couple of months. It was very difficult to sleep and get back to normalcy.”

She added that she downplayed the drama for the sake of her sons, Taimur, 8, and Jeh. “I don’t want to live in that fear for my children, because it’s wrong to put that stress on them. It’s been a tough journey to manoeuvre — from fear and anxiety to balancing the fact that I am a mother and wife. I am just happy and thank God that we are safe.”

She went on to recall Jeh’s sweet reaction to the incident, saying that he feels his father is “Batman or Iron Man”. Sharing that “they feel stronger as a unit” now, Kareena hopes her kids “will grow up being resilient because they have seen their father being attacked”.

Saif Ali Khan attack case: Kareena Kapoor's first words - "Forget what’s happening here, we need to get you to hospital"

Saif Ali Khan attack case: ‘Forget what’s happening here, we need to get you to hospital’

V Narayan (THE TIMES OF INDIA; April 12, 2025)

Mumbai: In her testimony which is part of the police chargesheet into the Jan 16 assault on Saif Ali Khan, Saif’s wife and actor Kareena Kapoor Khan has spoken of how their nine-year-old son Taimur was particularly affected by his father’s condition after the attack and insisted on going to the hospital.
Kareena’s testimony is one among 111 witness statements included in the chargesheet which outlines events that early morning at the triplex where the actor’s family occupies three bedrooms on the 11th floor, with the kitchen and living areas on the 12th and library and service facilities on the 13th.
According to Kareena’s account, she returned home at 1:20 am after a meeting, and finding her family asleep, checked on her children before retiring for the night.

Kareena stated, “At 2 am I and my husband heard (one of the caretakers) Junu screaming, “Jeh baba ke room mein ek aadmi haath mein chaku leke aaya hai, aur woh paise maang raha hai (A man with a knife has entered Jeh’s room and he’s asking for money)”… She was scared. We both headed to Jeh’s bedroom and fo und (another caretaker) Geeta outside Jeh’s bedroom, scared. Saif went ahead of Geeta and peeped inside the bedroom and noticed a person in dark-coloured shirt standing on the left side of the bed holding a knife and a hacksaw blade in the other hand. He was close to Jeh.”

Her statement further mentions that “Saif, while retaliating, was searching for something to get hold of when domestic help Hari, Ramu, Ramesh and Paswan rushed for help.”

After the assault was over, Kareena has stated, “I said Saif needs medical assistance. ‘Yeh sab chod do pehle neeche chalo, hospital jaate hain,’ I told everyone. We rushed downstairs to save our lives. I noticed blood rushing from Saif’s body and asked Hari to call a rickshaw. Hari and (house help Sister Eliyamma) Phillip went out of the building and got a rickshaw.”

When Saif and Hari were leaving for hospital, Taimur insisted he wanted to go with them, she stated.

Saif has said in his statement that the attacker repeatedly stabbed him with the knife “after I grabbed him. He fell when I pushed him with force. I and Geeta were trying to save our lives. We rushed out of the bedroom and locked it from outside.”

Charge sheet cites Kareena Kapoor’s first words upon seeing a blood-soaked Saif Ali Khan in the middle of burglary at their home
Shirish Vaktania, Diwakar Sharma (MID-DAY; Arpil 12, 2025)

“Ye sab chhod do, pehle neeche chalo. Hospital chalte hain.” Actor Kareena Kapoor’s uttered these words—according to her statement to the police—shortly after seeing her husband Saif Ali Khan bleeding after being stabbed at the family’s Bandra residence in the early hours of January 16. Kareena claimed she immediately rushed Saif, their two children and all the household staff downstairs using the lift to ensure their safety. She realized that the accused was still inside the house and staying there was not safe for any of them.

In her statement, Kareena said, “I live with Saif Ali Khan and our sons, Taimur and Jehangir (Jeh Baba), at Satguru Sharan building in Bandra West, along with two caregivers, two nurses, and four helpers. The caregivers are Geeta (Lekhi Tamang) and Junu Sapkota. The nurses are Sharmila Shrestha and Eliyama Philip. Our apartment on the 11th floor has three bedrooms; the living area is on the 12th floor and we have a library and servant quarters on the 13th floor.”

The statement further reads, “On January 15 at around 7.30 pm, I met my friend Rhea Kapoor. I returned home around 1.20 am. I checked on Taimur and Jeh Baba in their bedrooms and found them asleep. Around 2 am, Junu rushed into my bedroom, where I was with Saif, and told us that someone was inside Jeh Baba’s room, holding a knife and demanding money. (‘Jeh Baba ke room mein ek aadmi haath mein chaku leke aaya hai, aur paisa maang raha hai.’).”

Saif and I rushed to Jeh Baba’s room and found Geeta standing outside the door. Inside, I saw a man dressed in dark clothes and a cap, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and seemingly between 30 to 35 years old, holding a knife and a hexablade.

“I saw nurse Eliyama Philip injured and bleeding from her hand. When Saif attempted to restrain the intruder from behind, the attacker stabbed him in the hand, neck and back. Geeta also approached, and he attacked her as well. I shouted to Eliyama to rescue Jeh Baba and take him out of the room. Together, we rushed to the 12th floor with Jeh Baba. Saif also followed us there, severely injured and bleeding.”

According to the statement, Saif had injuries on his neck, back and hand. “I called our helpers Hari, Ramu, Ramesh and Paswan for help. We searched the house for the attacker but couldn’t find him. I decided to evacuate everyone because the house was no longer safe. I told the staff, ‘Ye sab chhod do, pehle neeche chalo. Hospital chalte hain,’ since Saif needed urgent medical attention. We all took the lift downstairs, and I asked Hari to take Saif to the hospital. Taimur also insisted on accompanying his father, and I allowed him to go to Lilavati Hospital with Saif and Hari,” the statement read.

Kareena later informed her sister Karisma Kapoor, her manager Poonam Damania, and Poonam’s husband, Tejas Damania, for assistance. Shortly afterwards, the police arrived at the building. They searched the premises but found no sign of the intruder. Kareena later reached the hospital and ensured Eliyama was also admitted.

Employer of Saif Ali Khan’s alleged assailant reveals in statement how accused came to work for him and how his cover was blown
Shirish Vaktania, Diwakar Sharma (MID-DAY; Arpil 12, 2025)

A digital payment of Rs 6 at an Andheri West photocopying centre by the employer of Bangladeshi national Shariful Islam Shehzad, who stabbed actor Saif Ali Khan at his Bandra flat on January 16, helped Mumbai police trace his hideout in Thane’s Hiranandani Estate, revealed the charge sheet filed in Bandra court.

The Mumbai Police, who had been desperately hunting for the masked man, got a hint after the intruder’s CCTV grab at Satguru Sharan building matched with the facial recognition system (FRS) at Andheri railway station. The investigators then came across footage from Andheri West of January 9, in which he was seen riding pillion with a person.

The cops retrieved the details of the motorcyclist and the biker was identified as Amit Pandey, who had hired Shehzad as a member of his housekeeping staff. The investigating team then showed a CCTV grab of the attacker to Pandey who identified him as Vijay Das.

After retrieving the mobile number of the attacker, the police traced Das to Hiranandani where he was hiding behind a barracks. Though the charge sheet revealed that Shehzad had entered Saif’s Bandra flat to demand Rs 1 crore, there is no detailed description of how he entered the apartment on January 16. The attacker was captured in the CCTV footage in which he was seen ascending the building’s stairs at 1.37 am and then descending at 2.37 am.

According to the charge sheet, the accused was seen coming out of the compound of the Bharti Villa building in CCTV footage at 3.37 am on January 16. But none got a whiff of his whereabouts. A large team of Bandra police reached the crime spot and inspected the area that was cordoned off for gathering pieces of crucial evidence scattered on the floor at the flat.

“The crime scene was examined with the help of a forensic mobile van, fingerprint experts and a dog team. In terms of evidence, 29 specimens such as a piece of knife blade, blood samples lying on the spot, blood stained pillow cover, blood stained mattress cover, blood stained load cover, blood stained cotton pad, blood stained tissue paper, plain sample of cotton cloth have been recovered from the scene (sic),” revealed the charge sheet.

Pandey’s statement
Pandey told Bandra police that he works as a supervisor in Shree Om Facility Services, a housekeeping manpower agency. He met Shehzad in November 2024. “The said agency also works to place the people coming to work in hotels at various places as per their requirement. In July 2024 one person came to me asking for housekeeping work in the acquaintance Name Vishal (full name not known) working in our agency. He told his name as Vijay Das (sic). At that time, I asked him for his Aadhaar card and other documents and he said that he would give them later. After about two days, I hired him as a housekeeper in a pub located at Worli Koliwada, where he provided accommodation with other men working in our agency. Vijay worked at the pub for four months,” Pandey said.

“Vijay worked at Bandra till January 13. After that, I got information that he did not come to work for two to three days. At that time, I tried to call him repeatedly. But Vijay's phone was going off. Then on January 16 around 11 am I got a call from an unknown mobile number. He told me that Vijay Das was talking, about why I didn't come to work for two days. When asked about this, he told me that while coming to work, he had a fight with a person on the train at Mahim,” Pandey added.

“Vijay told me that because the person was a policeman, he took him to the police station and locked him up. On the same day around 7.30 pm Vijay called me from the phone of a person called Rohit Yadav, who lives in our agency, Worli Koliwada, and said that he did not need money for food and drink. He asked me to send Rs 1000. I transferred the money. At the time, I instructed Rohit to go to work regularly. But I learnt that Vijay did not go to work that day also. When I inquired about Vijay from the other guys at work, I was informed that he was not even in the room.”

“On the night of January 18, while I was watching TV at home, I saw the news about the attack on actor Saif Ali Khan. After seeing the face of the suspect and the shirt he was wearing, I realized that he was Vijay. I tried to contact him repeatedly but when I could not get through to him, I decided to report the matter to the police. But the next day I learnt from the TV that he was caught by the police,” he added.

“When the police called me and questioned me, I learned his real name is Mohammad Shariful Sajjad Rohool Amin Fakir and he is a citizen of Bangladesh,” Pandey stated.

BT Exclusive: I don’t know how the intruder missed my carotid and jugular-Saif Ali Khan

Saif Ali Khan REACTS to people calling stabbing incident fake & PR stunt: ‘It is what gives color to the world’

Anshul Chaturvedi (BOMBAY TIMES; February 10, 2025)

Was this a ‘real’ attack? How can someone get into a celeb’s house like that? Why would he need an autorickshaw? Did he really go with Taimur? What, there was a knife stuck in his back and he was still coherent? Arey, if he was injured so badly, how is he walking out like that from the hospital, waving?

Saif Ali Khan got support and sympathy, for sure, but as often happens with him, he got more than his fair share of questions, doubts and scrutiny even after fighting an intruder, getting stabbed, and undergoing extensive surgery. In his first interview after the attack, Saif thanks his well-wishers and also answers the cynics, in his trademark style – with a straight bat. Excerpts:

THE INCIDENT

What happened that night?
Kareena had been out to dinner, and I had some work in the morning, so I stayed in. She came back, we had a chat and went to sleep. After a while, the house help rushed in and said – ‘There’s an intruder! There’s a guy in Jeh’s room with a knife asking for money!’ It was around 2 am, I could get the time wrong slightly, but it was late...

Obviously, I kind of lost it, and went in there to see and I saw this guy holding (what I thought were) two sticks over Jeh’s bed – it was actually a hexa blade. So he had a knife in each hand and a mask on. It was a surreal scene. And something just kind of took over and I just grabbed him. I ran and pulled him down, and then we were wrestling. He was thumping me as hard as he could in my back, and it was just thuds. I thought it was...

You didn’t realize it was a knife?
I didn’t. It didn’t really hurt because there’s too much of adrenaline and shock at that moment. And then he was slashing at my neck, and I was blocking it with my hand. There were slashes to my palm and my wrist and arm. There was all this violence – slashing with both hands, most of which was kind of defended. And yeah, I fought with him, but I couldn’t handle it after a while because there were these two knives in action. And I was just barefoot, bare-handed in a kurta pajama.

And I was just praying that someone could get this guy off me at this point. And my incredibly lovely house help (Geeta) pulled him off me and shoved him away. And we both kind of rolled away, and closed the door. And at this point I was covered in blood, and I lost some feeling in my right leg. This was because I had been nicked in the spine, but I didn’t realize that at the time – I thought I’d been stabbed in the leg. I went upstairs to try and find something to fight this guy. Kareena, in the meantime, had taken Jeh out and gone to Tim’s room.

She had taken him out while you were still grappling with the intruder?
Yes. While this fight happened, Jeh was taken out. I remember Kareena screaming ‘Take the kid out!’

Jeh was sleeping all this while?
He had woken up, and seen some of it. I don’t know, you know because I was busy (laughs). And then we all gathered upstairs.

The intruder had escaped by then?
Geeta had held the door shut from outside – so we thought he was locked inside. But he escaped the way he came – though we didn’t know that. He had gone the way he came in – which was up a drainpipe into the kids’ bathroom. I don’t think he knew where he was.

And we all headed downstairs. It was a filmi scene where I was covered in blood and we took two decorative swords off the wall. And that’s what Taimur saw – me covered in blood and Hari, the other house help, holding two swords. So, it was vaguely heroic, at least that moment (laughs). We said – ‘let’s get him’. And Kareena said – ‘No, let’s get out! Because we’ve got to get you to a hospital, and I’ve got to get Jeh out of here because I feel he’s (the intruder) still around, and there could be more of them.’

So then we all went downstairs. Kareena was shouting for a rickshaw, or a cab, or anything. I said, I kind of feel some pain. There’s something wrong with my back. She said – you go to the hospital and I’ll go to my sister’s house. She was making calls frantically – but nobody was up. And we looked at each other, and I said, ‘I’m fine. I’m not going to die.’ And Taimur also asked me – ‘Are you going to die?’ I said, ‘No.’

Was Taimur composed?
He was absolutely composed. He was fine. He said, ‘I’m coming with you.’ And I thought, if something happens... I was getting a lot of comfort just from looking at him at that time. And I didn’t want to go alone.

My wife sent him knowing what he would do for me. Maybe it wasn’t... at the moment, it was the right thing to do. I felt good about it. And I also thought, if God forbid, something happens, I’d like for him to be there. And he wanted to be there also. So, we went – him, me and Hari – in the rickshaw.

The rickshaw guy saw the blood and he knew something had happened. But I think because of the kid, he kind of gave the whole thing some respectability. He saw that we were decent people, somehow. I don’t know how. And he was so amazing – he took a shortcut and took it easy on bumps. He drove me to Lilavati.

THE HOSPITAL

Did you actually walk into the hospital the way the doctor described – covered in blood and with Taimur by your side?
Yes! (Laughs) We just walked into that emergency room. I’ve been there before a couple of times, so I knew my way around. It took them a minute to understand that there’s a celebrity involved and this is a slightly bizarre, absurd scenario. Just took a minute to sink in, you know, that a movie star has been stabbed.

I had a lot of clarity and adrenaline. They brought a wheelchair and I said, no, I don’t think a wheelchair is good idea, get me a stretcher. And I pointed at my face and said – ‘I’m Saif Ali Khan’ (laughs). They did a double take – and then all hell broke loose.

They were very efficient after that. There was a doctor on duty in his blue scrubs and he took some right decisions. Then the head of the hospital came. I really wanted to go to the loo and they said, we’ll give you a catheter. I said, no, no, I’ll walk. They couldn’t believe that I could walk, because they had had a look at the back by then.

Then they said, we have to do an MRI. They looked at my hands, my neck and said it’s all slashed up, but the back is the main issue. So they did the MRI, and somebody took the right call and said, let’s call a spinal neurosurgeon. That was a great move. Dr Dange (Dr Nitin Dange), who had just gone to bed at 2 am or something – somebody rang him up, and he rushed to the hospital.

They said a good three-four inches of the knife has gone in behind the shoulder blade and has worked its way right to the bloody spinal cord. It’s a massive stab and it’s broken off, and it’s nicked the cover of the spinal cord. And there’s spinal fluid leaking out, which is why the feeling in the leg was going. That’s how close it came: Just one more millimetre and we’d be talking paralysis. It’s not like, you know, a back spasm or something that we’re underplaying.

And the doctors did a phenomenal job. It was a major surgery. It took six hours – the spinal thing alone took 2.5 hours. I was under anesthesia for like five hours or something. It’s pretty big, that’s the longest I’ve ever been in a surgery.

When did you begin to sort of understand that this is serious? When did you first hear about this ‘one millimetre short of paralysis’?
They didn’t tell me initially. They said – there is a foreign body in your back, and we need to get rid of that. I could walk and everything. So I didn’t think it’s very serious.

Then later on, the doctor told me in instalments. He said, ‘Listen, you have lost spinal fluid.’ And there’s still some numbness in my thigh. And two days later, he told me why. He said, ‘I’ve moved all your nerves around.’ It’s been an incredible, like pain-free recovery apart from some muscular ache, which I’m still experiencing.

That’s what gives rise to conspiracy theories that, he was this close to paralysis, how is he then strolling around like this?
Close is close. You’re either paralyzed or you’re not. That’s how life is, right? I mean – you’re either hurt or not hurt. There’s 25 stitches here and there’s 30 stitches there. If you start with the two slashes on my palm and my arm – they had both not even cut a tendon. They could have cut the artery and the wrist and the veins, they could have cut... It’s just a miracle that my hands and my fingers are working fine. A guy cuts himself in the palm in the kitchen and then he can’t move his little finger for the rest of his life, you know.

So that’s a miracle. I have like 30 most awful scars running down my neck. I don’t understand how he missed my carotid artery and jugular vein… it’s not possible to cut somebody’s neck the way my neck is cut, and not kill them.

THE COMMENTARY

There has been some degree of chatter about how come nobody drives? Why did it take him two hours to reach the hospital?
Yes, the question was what was he doing for 1.5 hours with a knife in his back? Absolutely not. I went downstairs and out. The first rickshaw was me going to a hospital, and then these guys went to Karisma’s house. There was no lag.

And people on social media asking – arey, such rich people, no driver at home at night?
Nobody stays here all night. Everyone has a home to go to. We have some people staying in the house, but not the drivers. Unless you are going out at night or there’s something needed, then you tell them to stay on.

I would have driven if I could have found the keys. Luckily, I didn’t. I probably should not have wiggled my back much. I’d have driven. I was completely lucid.

And you could not have just called the driver at 3 am?
But he could have taken time to come, na? I knew I had to go to the hospital pretty soon.

‘Was he acting?’ ‘Garbage’ – Any responses for this sort of language being used after the attack?
I think it is expected that there will be all kinds of reactions to something like this. There will be people ridiculing it. There will be people not believing it, people making fun of it. And I think that’s fine because it is what gives colour to the world. If everyone had a sympathetic reaction to something, it would be flat and dull. And I expected it, then there is no need to react to it.

And the thing that became clear to me is that there is so much kindness also in the world. There’s so many wonderful people who know how to make you feel better by saying supportive things. From the ward boys and the doctors to the rickshaw driver, they were all just angels, heaven-sent. There is a lot of kindness in the world and a fair amount of stupidity also. But that’s what makes it interesting.

THE WALK BACK TO NORMALCY

You had a very lucky day, basically.
It’s beyond. I don’t know what it is. It feels like incredibly lucky. A friend of mine said – ‘Let’s say, you were forced to roll a deadly dice. And you rolled a six.’ I think that’s a good way of putting it because I didn’t want to roll this dice. But it’s like you roll any other number and you’re dead.

But when you walk out of the hospital that casually, it doesn’t look like you had a brush with death.
The instinct was that I’d like to walk out of the hospital. I had walked in also, and I’d like to walk out on my own, and it wasn’t to show off or anything. It was just not to be alarmist and like my father (used to say) –‘let’s just kind of underplay it a bit’.

I never thought about how to present it. The more I consider the PR aspect of it, I’ve come to the conclusion that I think my life is pretty interesting for actually what it is, it doesn’t need a twist. It doesn’t need to be twisted and presented.

So, my thing is that it’s not an exaggerated injury. It’s a miraculous survival. Walking around after that, it’s still painful to stand for too long. The aches and pains are there, but they’re getting better every day. And I think it will be a complete recovery.

How has the family reacted?
The kids are okay, thank God. Jeh has given me a plastic sword, and said, ‘Keep this by your bed for the next time the chor comes’. He says, ‘Geeta saved Abba and Abba saved me.’

Taimur is a little concerned about security. Sara was very emotional and Ibrahim was also very emotional, more than he obviously normally is. He was there and has been spending a lot of time with me. It’s been really kind of nice for the family to come together (laughs), but also obviously, a bit of a shock for everyone.

How’s Kareena holding up?
She’s doing very, very well. Being very strong. Naturally, a bit shaken and concerned about things like security and that something like this should not happen again.

Does living in Mumbai, or the society you are in, feel unsafe to you now?
I’ve never believed in security. People were saying, ‘Why don’t they have more security?’ I’ve never believed in security. I don’t want it. I never wanted to walk around with three of these guys. I think it would be a nightmare for me. And I still won’t, because I don’t think this is an attack on me. I’m not under threat.

None of us are under any kind of threat. This is a mistake that happened. I firmly believe a guy climbed up a drainpipe and squeezed through a hole and arrived in our house. I don’t think he knew whose house it was. It’s not an inside job. It’s none of these things. And the police have done a fantastic job.

I feel very safe in Mumbai. I think it’s a completely safe city, but yeah, we hear about stuff like this. Like in every other place in the world, whether it’s New York or London or Paris, you have to lock the doors properly and you’ve got to lock the windows. You can’t tempt fate. You can’t leave stuff open. I mean, it’s not some village in Switzerland.

What I am getting from you is that there is no massive sense of a rebooting of life or paranoia. This is not a Monica Seles moment where an assailant with a knife changes your life’s trajectory?
No. It’s not going to change my life and it shouldn’t, because that would be... it would be wrong because, I mean, this is not one of those scenarios. This is somebody who is trying to steal something because of desperation.

Let’s talk about this ‘somebody’. What does the family feel about him? What do you feel?
Taimur said that he should be forgiven because he believed that the guy was hungry. I also believe I would have forgiven him. I feel bad for him – till where that knife comes in and my spine comes in and the fact that he tried to kill me (laughs). That’s where I stopped feeling bad for him. I understand why he did it. But he crossed the line when he went mad on me.

I don’t blame society and I don’t blame the police or Mumbai or anything. I blame myself for not locking that area properly. But I didn’t believe this would happen. I didn’t believe that this kind of thing would happen to us. This could have gone anywhere.

It’s the best possible outcome – apart from not getting stabbed at all (laughs). I used to have a gun also. Luckily, I don’t have that. I don’t know what would have happened.

Why don’t you have a gun?
I didn’t believe in that anymore. I thought some kid will get hold of it, and then there’ll be other problems.

I mean there are guns around at Pataudi. All the people who have guns – Rajwaras and the Rajasthanis – have been messaging me that they can’t believe that guy got away with it.

My father used to sleep with a shotgun by his bed. But sometimes, I believe accidents happen because there was a gun. Young kids would definitely play with it or God knows what can happen.

So, you haven’t kept any weapons in the Mumbai home?
No, there are no weapons. There are some talvars which are ceremonial and decorative. Some people are now like, you should have protection with you at all times. The world is not safe. Sleep with a gun.

But you still won’t?
I don’t think so. Nothing will change. See, if you start doing that... because I don’t feel I’m under threat. It was not a premeditated attack. I think it just was a burglary attempt gone wrong. That poor guy, his life is more screwed than mine.

So, very cliched question, but if you had to enter that room again, would you have done anything differently?
I would put on the light and firstly tell him, ‘Do you know who I am?’ (Laughs) And I think he would say, ‘Oh shit! I’m in the wrong house.’ And I’d say ‘Right, put the knife down and let’s talk about this’. I think I would have tried to reason. But it was a mixture of anger, outrage and a kind of defense. I don’t know. It was just... it was too quick. And it was completely instinctive.

I’ll tell you something funny – when we were fighting, I hit him as hard as I could with my bare hand on the back of the head. And I thought to myself – that is the most ineffectual punch in the history of punches. This guy is gonna kill me because (he has) a weapon – two knives – and (I’m) a barefooted, bare-handed man. I mean unless it’s a good movie, there is just no contest there.

Did you get a lecture from Amma?
(Laughs) Well, no, she was firstly, very supportive about Taimur being there. I thought she’d be more annoyed about that. But she said – ‘No, what you thought was right and you’ve exposed him in such a different way to so many things’ – that I mean he’s a different kind of kid.

She also completely understood the protective parental instinct. I remember her telling me when I was young that ‘I’ll get in the way if someone ever tries to hurt you’. It had an impact on me. So I guess it’s every parent’s instinct.

And she was very protective. The doctors were worried that there shouldn’t be any secondary infection. So she was making sure everyone wore a mask, including the doctors. So there was a bit of fear of the mother (laughs). She was also very nice. She held my hand and sang me a song, and it was very soothing.

Which one?
I can’t remember. It was a lullaby. That hasn’t happened since I was a baby!

Auto driver who drove Saif Ali Khan to hospital didn’t realize his passenger was a celeb

Saif Ali Khan attacked: He was bleeding heavily, rushed him quickly to hospital, says auto driver

V Narayan (THE TIMES OF INDIA; January 18, 2025)

Mumbai: The rickshaw driver who rushed Saif Ali Khan to Lilavati Hospital after the attack on the actor at his home on Thursday was oblivious to his passenger's celebrity status. Bhajan Singh, who lives in a chawl on Pipeline Road in Khar (East), told TOI that upon noticing "a profusely bleeding person", his only thought was to take a short-cut and reach hospital at the earliest so that his life could be saved.

During the journey, Khan remained conscious and repeatedly asked Singh about their expected arrival time. "I told him it will take only two minutes. The injured actor was accompanied by his domestic help (Hari) and his son Taimur. He was not panicking, though I noticed his white outfit was soaked in blood," Singh recounted.

"Initially I did not realize that the badly wounded person was a famous Bollywood actor. My only aim was to reach Lilavati Hospital at the earliest. They were in a state of such emergency! That also prevented me from asking for my fare. The fact that such a big actor sat in my vehicle itself was a big source of satisfaction for me, when once I realised who he was."

On the fateful night, Singh, who works night shifts in the Bandra-Khar area, spotted one of the actor's domestic help waving at him near Satguru Sharan, Khan's residential building. "It was a scene of panic. The actor sat inside, his son in the middle and (Hari) on the side before we left for the hospital," he recalled, describing how a blood-soaked Khan struggled to walk. Upon reaching the hospital, the staff immediately attended to him and took him on a stretcher.

Singh's chawl-mate Harshitt Rana said, "Singh, I and three others (all auto drivers) are from Uttarakhand and have lived together for 20 years in Mumbai, driving autorickshaws. Our families live in Uttarakhand. Singh drives at night while I do so during the day."

PM Narendra Modi thought we’d bring Taimur and Jehangir to meet him-Saif Ali Khan

Saif Ali Khan: PM Modi thought we’d bring Taimur and Jehangir to meet him

Rishabh Suri (HINDUSTAN TIMES; December 15, 2024)

Actor Saif Ali Khan recently met up with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi, along with the entire Kapoor family. Now, talking to us about the special meeting, which was organised to honour the late showman Raj Kapoor, Saif says, “He (PM Modi) arrived after a day in Parliament, so I was wondering if he would be tired. But he put on a warm smile and was attentive and charming to us all!”

In attendance were his wife, actor Kareena Kapoor Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Neetu Singh, Aadar Jain and Armaan Jain, along with other family members.

Saif adds, “I am happy that I could be a part of it. What a lovely honour for the family to have a stamp with Raj sahab to commemorate his 100th birth anniversary!”

Saif reveals that the Prime Minister also spoke to him specially about his parents, actor Sharmila Tagore and late cricketer, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.

He shares: “He asked about my parents individually and said that he thought we’d bring (sons) Taimur (Ali Khan) and Jehangir (Ali Khan) to meet him! He also signed a paper for them that Kareena requested him to. To me, he looked like he was working very hard running the country and still taking time to connect on this level. I asked him how much rest he gets, and he said about three hours a night. We thanked him for taking out some of his valuable time to see us and give the family so much respect.”

Kareena Kapoor says Taimur ‘doesn’t even know all the drama’ around his name

Kareena says Taimur ‘doesn’t even know all the drama’ around his name

HINDUSTAN TIMES (October 17, 2024)

Actor Kareena Kapoor Khan recently opened up about the uproar that erupted when she and husband, actor Saif Ali Khan revealed their elder son Taimur’s name in 2016. While she admitted that the scrutiny exacted its toll on her, Kareena noted that Saif “was very relaxed and calm about it”.

“Of course, it affected me that people were talking about his name. He probably doesn’t even know that there was a whole drama. But he also got a lot of love for the fact that people were so interested in him. I was like, ‘But why? You don’t even know him, he is so small’,” she said in an interview with MissMalini, adding, “I feel that now he will slowly understand the fact that people follow him or he is being clicked.”

She also recalled her late grandfather actor Raj Kapoor’s advice on how to deal with being under the scanner. “My grandfather always told us, ‘They are talking about you, good or bad, they are talking about you. Because, why wouldn’t they talk? You have to take it in your stride if you want to be a superstar. Otherwise, this place is not for you’,” she said, adding that her grandfather advised her to have a “patthar ka dil”.

Talking about how she keeps seven-year-old Taimur grounded amid the public attention, Kareena added: “But I have to obviously keep reminding him that, ‘It’s important that you do something, your parents have done something.’ So he has figured it out slowly.”

Kareena Kapoor is an amazing, disciplined mother; Saif Ali Khan a hands on dad-Lalita DSilva

MEET LALITA, THE NURSE TO STAR KIDS

The paediatric nurse, who went viral after she posted snaps with Anant Ambani from his wedding, reveals how she manages the star kids— from Taimur to Klin Kaara
Rishabh Suri (HINDUSTAN TIMES; July 20, 2024)

You have seen her accompanying actors Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan’s sons, Taimur and Jehangir (Jeh) since they were babies, and even Klin Kaara — actor Ram Charan and businesswoman Upasana Konidela’s daughter. And now, Lalita Dsilva, who is not a nanny but a paediatric nurse, has become a talking point on the internet after she posted pictures with the newlywed businessperson Anant Ambani from his wedding.

“People recognise me now after the photos went viral,” says Dsilva, who has been in the profession for 30 years. She began her job of looking after the medical well-being of babies with the Ambanis. “Not just Anant; I also took care of Isha and Akash. It was an unbelievable feeling to be attending his (Anant) wedding,” she gushes. A mother of a 35-year-old son, Dsilva adds she worked with the Ambanis for 11 years.

“They invited me to Isha and Akash’s wedding too, but I was travelling with Taimur then. This time Ram Charan sir and Upasana ji helped me stay back and attend Anant’s wedding,” says the nurse, who has worked with just two film stars’ families; the rest have been business families.

In her sixties now, Dsilva has become a globetrotter as she accompanies celebs on their outings, including international holidays to Italy, Thailand as well as film shoots. She had travelled with Kareena to look after Jeh when the actor shot for Laal Singh Chadha (2022).

Speaking of the Khan family, Dsilva calls Kareena “an amazing, disciplined mother” and Saif a “hands-on” dad. One can’t forget the hysteria following Taimur’s birth, which an otherwise calm Dsilva found quite stressful.

“There was pressure from the public and media. I would tell people, ‘Yeh bachcha hai, don’t chase him; why are you behaving like this?’ I had no experience stopping them from clicking pictures, but I managed. I was concerned about Taimur’s safety,” she concludes.

Kareena will always be my first baby; I look up to Bebo as an idol as she is extremely strong-Karisma Kapoor

LIFE DOESN’T CHANGE AFTER BECOMING A MOTHER, SAYS KARISMA KAPOOR

Sundas Jawed (BOMBAY TIMES; May 10, 2024)

Thirty two years in the industry and only one mantra to live by – never take anything too seriously – it’s something Karisma Kapoor stands by. In the city for an event organised by the Ladies Study Group on Tuesday evening during a conversation with Kalyani Saha Chawla and Minnie Juneja, Karisma said, “I love Kolkata. I was here to shoot my next OTT show which is based on a book from Kolkata.”

A hands-on mom, and a foodie at heart, the Zubeidaa, Andaz ApnaApna and Dil Toh Pagal Hai actress spoke about motherhood, the evolved film industry, food, fitness, family and more.

‘I was privileged to be able to take a break’
The Zubeidaa actress spoke about how privileged she felt when she had a choice to take a break from movies after becoming a mom and that life doesn’t change after becoming one. “I took a break out of choice. I was privileged to make that choice. I didn’t want to lose out on those moments for both our children. After you have a baby, life is still not over, you are amazing and fantastic,” said Karisma Kapoor who was at an event in the City of Joy organised by the Ladies Study Group.

Food, fitness and the fam-jam
The Kapoors are known for their love for food and lunch tables. Karisma is no different. “I’m a big foodie, I eat everything and I also eat carbs for dinner. I am a Kapoor and we love eating, it is in the genes,” said the Fiza actress.

“I don’t take my fitness too seriously and that is something I want to tell young girls. Don’t starve yourself, eat in moderation.” The actress admitted to loving yoga and said that fitness is something very private to her.

The Lolo-Bebo bond- 'Bebo is my first baby, I’ve always been overprotective about her’
“I’ve always been very protective about Bebo. She has a strong personality, as a child also she knew what she wanted but to me she’ll always be my first baby,” said Karisma, adding how besides her grandfather, Kareena Kapoor is her on screen idol.

“My grandfather’s personality, his work and his life behind the camera was very inspirational. I also look up to Bebo as an idol because she is extremely strong. She worked through both her pregnancies.”

‘I have seen the Indian cinema and the industry change and grow’
Reflecting upon her three decades in the business, Karisma spoke about how the industry has just gotten better, both in terms of infrastructure as well as opportunities. “I’ve been in this industry for 32 years. I worked at a time when if we had to use the washroom we had to walk kilometres. I’ve seen the industry grow and change so much,” said Murder Mubarak actress.

‘I have a different theory about portrayal of women in Indian cinema’
While Karisma believes that the portrayal of women and their roles have changed for the better in Indian cinema, the key roles revolving around women have always existed. “Women are now being portrayed in an amazing light. Now there are roles for 17 year olds to 70 year olds. There is so much available for all the actors to do but earlier also there were movies like Mother India at that time which was a woman centric movie,” said the actress.

Welcoming Karisma Kapoor and throwing light on the theme of the year 2024-2025, ladies Study Group President, Minnie Juneja said, "With immense pleasure I welcome the Bollywood diva, Karisma Kapoor at the first event of Ladies Study Group under my Presidentship for the year 2024-2025. The theme for this year is 'The Power of Now'."

The special bond with Raj Kapoor
On being asked about being the favourite grandchild to Raj Kapoor, a smiling Karisma said, “I don’t know if I was special or not. Maybe because I was the eldest grandchild and I have the same eye colour as him. Dadaji and I, and now Taimur and Raha have the eye colour. He gave us a beautiful value system which was passed down to us and now we are passing it on to our children.”

'I love doing OTT but the magic of cinema is what we can’t deny. OTT is the cherry on the cake. Many actors are now getting an opportunity to portray roles which they were not getting to do otherwise'
-----------------------------------------------------
Karisma's favourite family member: 'Taimur and Jeh are her favourite people in the family and it’s pure joy interacting with them'
-----------------------------------------------------
The moment she decided she wanted to be an actor- 'At the age of eight or nine, I remember I was at the set of Prem Rog and he was explaining a particular scene. At that moment, I knew I wanted to act just like my family did. Dadaji (Raj Kapoor) told me that as interesting as it looked, it wasn’t easy'
-----------------------------------------------------
'Recognition comes with responsibility. My character in Dil Toh Pagal Hai was ahead of its time. Back then the heroine was supposed to fight and win her hero but I lost the hero in that one'
-----------------------------------------------------
'Each of my movie has been a piece of my heart, a stepping stone, each had its own journey and own memories'

My sons need to understand that mums can be busy too-Kareena Kapoor

‘My sons need to understand that mums can be busy too’

Navya Kharbanda (HINDUSTAN TIMES; May 5, 2024)

Actor Kareena Kapoor Khan, who is the mother of two boys, Taimur (7) and Jeh Ali Khan (3), feels that her kids need to understand and respect genders equally.

The 43-year-old, who was recently in Delhi for a UN event where she was announced UNICEF India’s National Ambassador, shares, “I feel that boys who see not just their father but also their mothers work have respect for the fact that mums can be busy, too. [For instance] Taimur had a holiday recently and wanted me to be home, but I told him I must go to work. I told him that work is important too and promised to give them more time.”

The actor, who was recently seen in the film Crew, hopes that with these little instances, her sons will value both parents’ work. “They will respect the fact that abba (father, actor Saif Ali Khan) goes to work and comes home, and it’s the same for amma. I want them to grow up knowing that we are equals in this house,” she adds.

Kareena and Saif are also careful of their own way of talking in front of their kids. “Saif always tells me that we talk to each other with love; therefore, our children will talk to each other and others with love. There is [always] learning from observation. That’s also how I try to inculcate respect,” she says.

What makes the star kid is the press, the photographers, and then the audience-Saif Ali Khan

Saif Ali Khan says star kids are ‘made by the audience’
HINDUSTAN TIMES (February 10, 2024)

Saif Ali Khan enjoys a level of privilege in Bollywood by proximity of being the son of veteran actor Sharmila Tagore. The next generation of the Pataudi family have followed suit, with daughter, actor Sara Ali Khan debuting in 2018 in Kedarnath, and son, Ibrahim Ali Khan prepping for his launch. Married to actor Kareena Kapoor Khan, their kids Taimur and Jehangir are also pap favourites. It’s no surprise as people are curious about star kids.

The actor said, “The audience and people are interested in star kids. Look at The Archies (2023). We’ve only been talking about certain [actors those who are star kids].”

The musical marked the debut of actors Suhana Khan, daughter of actor Shah Rukh Khan, Agastya Nanda, grandson of actor Amitabh Bachchan, and Khushi Kapoor, daughter of late actor Sridevi.

Saif told Film Companion how cameras have been chasing his younger kids since their birth: “They’re constantly being photographed, being followed. Tomorrow, if someone wants to make a movie on them, it’s not rocket science, because someone would obviously be [thinking about their popularity]. So we have to decide why this attention [exists] and where it comes from.”

Recalling the time Taimur was practising taekwondo, “people photographed him and it was all over the internet”. He adds, “What makes the star kid is the press, the photographers, and then the audience.”

Saif Ali Khan actually grew up with his own kids, says Kareena Kapoor on Koffee With Karan 8

Raising a father

Appearing on Koffee With Karan 8, Kareena discusses how Saif became a dad only with Taimur as he was too young when Sara, Ibrahim were born
Mohar Basu (MID-DAY; November 16, 2023)

Bollywood gossip and laughs aren’t the only things you get when Kareena Kapoor Khan and Alia Bhatt share the couch. In the latest episode of Disney+ Hotstar’s Koffee With Karan 8, the two delved deep into their personal lives, with Kapoor speaking about cherishing her role as a mother to Taimur and Jehangir, and finding a supportive co-parent in husband Saif Ali Khan.

In the sections of Kwiz & Tell and Ask Me Anything, the actor reflected on how Khan—who has two kids, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan with ex-wife Amrita Singh—has evolved as a father over the years. She stated that he is a hands-on dad to Taimur and Jehangir, something that his youth and chock-a-block work schedules had taken away from him in Sara and Ibrahim’s growing-up years.

“Saif actually grew up with his own kids. He had Sara and Ibrahim [when he was] very young himself,” said Kapoor.

When host Karan Johar asked her if she feels he found his footing as a father when they had Taimur, she said, “Obviously, he has a lot of time now. When he had become a father back then, he was also working, he was in his 20s. [He was] trying to build his career, start his life.”

I would say I am 70% percent a mother now and 30% an actor-Kareena Kapoor

NOW, I AM 70% A MOTHER, 30% AN ACTOR: KAREENA
Kareena Kapoor Khan says she’s a ‘hands-on’ mum to Taimur and Jehangir
Rishabh Suri (HINDUSTAN TIMES; April 27, 2023)

It wouldn’t be wrong to say that priorities have changed for Kareena Kapoor Khan since she embraced motherhood. The actor, who shares sons Taimur (6) and Jeh (2) with actor Saif Ali Khan, is a “24/7 mum”, in her own words.

“I am very hands on, I like to do everything,” she tells us, adding, “I would say I am 70% percent a mother now and 30% an actor. I do things I love as well, like spreading awareness about topics such as inculcating reading habits in children.”

In this age of social media, her sons are public figures in their own right and are often papped, too. As a mother, does this constant glare perturb her? She says, “Saif and I, as parents, have never really hid anything from the media. My children are photographed because we believe if we give respect, we will get respect. I can’t ask for it or beg for it.”

The 42-year-old adds that whenever she tells the paps not to click her kids — while they are at school or with friends — they refrain. “We have to reach that mutual understanding,” she asserts, adding, “I give respect to my fans on Instagram as well. I let them into my life, maybe not 100% percent. I make everybody feel involved in my life and that’s why my fans are still so involved.”

Kareena is currently shooting for Rhea Kapoor’s The Crew, co-starring Kriti Sanon and Tabu, among others. Like many other working women, she too is juggling her personal life and professional commitments. However, when the same is done by a man, it is often viewed through a different lens and becomes a big deal.

Ask her take on this and she laughs, saying, “Women are just expected to be that (multi-taskers). People think, ‘She can do it’. Of course we can! But today, actresses are a lot more vocal, stressing that it’s not a big deal. We don’t want to be addressed as anything different.”

We are a family of working actors, and we all enjoy our work-Sharmila Tagore

Sharmila Tagore To Taimur Ali Khan, Almost Full House In This Pataudi Family Pic

Bharti Dubey (E TIMES | BOMBAY TIMES; May 15, 2022)

Sharmila Tagore is making a comeback after a hiatus of 11 years. She will be seen sharing screen space with Amol Palekar, Manoj Bajpayee, Suraj Sharma and Simran Bagga in the film Gulmohar. Speaking to ETimes.in, the veteran actress recalls her experience of being back on sets and feeling at home in front of the camera.

Talking about what it was that prompted her to make a comeback after 11 years, she says, “It’s a very interesting role, different from the usual. It’s not just another grandmother character. I play my age. The script spoke to me, I looked forward to working with Manoj Bajpayee. I’m a big admirer of his. He was wonderful to work with. He internalises his work. He’s very prepared and always in character.”

Though the veteran actress was away from film sets for a while, it didn’t take her any time to feel comfortable in front of the camera. She says, “It felt so good. Our film was shot in homes, and it felt very real. It was not the studio atmosphere, where you just come and go. It was like we were living together for one month. It didn’t seem like I was entering an alien world, I felt the support and love.”

Ask her if she plans to take up more projects, and she says, “I’m not on Instagram, and I’m not so available like that. I said yes to this project, and I might do something again if things work out.”

Sharmila’s daughter-in-law Kareena Kapoor Khan has spoken about looking up to her mother-in-law in the personal and professional sphere. Any plans to work together in the near future? “The audience wants to see a good film at the end of the day. If the collaboration happens organically, then that’s a good thing, but nobody can force these things. Kareena is working on a lovely film. I’m very happy about that because this is the first shoot happening after the lockdown, and Saif has just finished another film. So, we are a family of working actors, and we all enjoy our work.”

Sugandha Rawal (HINDUSTAN TIMES; May 15, 2022)

Actor Sharmila Tagore is all set to face the camera after 11 years. But, she doesn’t believe in calling it her comeback, for she had never quit. “I’m not coming back anywhere,” she states. “At one point in life, I was an actor every day, going for shoots daily. Slowly, I petered down, and then, I wasn’t working for a very long time,” Tagore says, adding that she led a life away from the arclight, busy with her engagements in association with UNICEF as well as her trust.

Last seen in Break Ke Baad (2010), the 75-year-old will star in Gulmohar alongside Manoj Bajpayee, Amol Palekar and others. “I liked the script and they were going to shoot in Delhi, which was wonderful, because I live in Delhi. I was a little nervous about taking a commercial flight due to Coronavirus, but I didn’t have to. It worked out convenient,” she tells us.

Going forward, will we get to see more of her on screen? “It depends on the script,” she continues, “Also, there are a lot of other things which I want to do in life. I want to travel, spend time with my grandchildren. I’ve got the responsibility of Pataudi palace... If I get a role that’s not stereotypical, I would be interested. But, I’m not looking to work just for the heck of it, because that part of me is over now.”

Besides her fans, her grandkids will also see her bring a character alive on screen after long. And this thought has got her a bit more excited. “I got a lovely message from Inaaya already, congratulating me, prompted by her mother of course. Taimur and Jeh aren’t allowed to watch films now, but I assume it will be different when they watch me on screen. Sara and Ibrahim will watch, and they better like it. They don’t have an option but to say, ‘Well done’!” she says with a hearty laugh.

Returning to a film set, she says, was like a perfect holiday. In fact, the Kashmir Ki Kali (1964) actor says she felt like a newcomer, bringing her own perception to the role.

“It was fun to work on a film with no pressure at all. It was something different from my life now. It was liberating, more like a wonderful holiday. That’s also because it is not my life anymore. My life right now is completely different. I’m not a working person anymore. I’m not going every day to work like everybody else, from one film to another,” she says, adding, “I worked in the film and now, I have gone back to my own life.”

‘I am not looking to work just for the heck of it’

There is definitely a change in Taimur. He’s become more responsible-Saif Ali Khan

Saif Ali Khan says the arrival of his son Jeh has altered his elder son Taimur’s behaviour
Juhi Chakraborty (HINDUSTAN TIMES; October 13, 2021)

Saif Ali Khan has his hands full at the moment, and we aren’t just talking about his busy work schedule. The actor shares that having two young boys — four-year-old Taimur and eight-months-old Jeh aka Jehangir Ali Khan, — in the house has been quite an experience.

“There is definitely a change in Taimur… he was the younger one and now he isn’t anymore. He’s become more responsible. He is interested in zombies and armies and he makes his brother laugh a lot and usually (with) loud things. I think we are going to have our hands full,” reveals Khan, as he quickly adds with a laugh, “I am quite frightened as to where the peace and quiet portion is going to go with two boys.”

Commotion or not, Khan has been enjoying the company of wife Kareena Kapoor Khan and his sons, especially during the pandemic.

“The first lockdown was like that. We are very sorted people. My family is quite balanced, we have lovely children. We can cook and listen to music and read books and be okay. But, we really prefer our normal lives, working, and balancing it ourselves,” the Bhoot Police actor says.

Khan and his wife are full-time working parents and now with two kids at home, does it get challenging? “The important distinction there is that we don’t really have to work. So, we can afford to choose what we want to do; we have been doing that for a while now,” explains Khan, who recently went on a vacation to Maldives with family.

He adds that it’s all about attaining the right balance. “There comes a phase in life when you want more and want better; there is no end to that. But there has to be a balance. We make sure that one of us is working less and the other works more. For both of us, nothing is more important than spending time with our kids and each other, cooking and having what you call a family atmosphere. It also works because Kareena wants to have a home life alongside work,” he says.

It’s unfathomable why somebody would troll children-Kareena Kapoor

Can’t be looking at my life through trolls, says Kareena Kapoor Khan

The actress talks about dealing with negativity, pay disparity in Bollywood & why she refused to ‘hide behind a curtain’ during pregnancy
PTI | DELHI TIMES (September 11, 2021)

Kareena Kapoor Khan has spoken about the negativity and trolling she had to endure for naming her sons Taimur and Jehangir in an interview with an international publication. “Honestly, these are names that we just liked; it’s nothing else. They are beautiful names and they’re beautiful boys. It’s unfathomable why somebody would troll children. I feel terrible about it, but I have to just focus and get through it. I can’t be looking at my life through the trolls,” the 40-year-old actress, who welcomed her second baby with Saif Ali Khan in February this year, was quoted as saying. While the pair had revealed the name of their first child Taimur, born in 2016, to the media, they refrained from doing so when it came to their newborn. The name of their second son Jehangir, however, surfaced on social media when her recent book was released. The actress also spoke about a host of other topics, like equal pay in Bollywood and embracing the changes in her body during pregnancy. Excerpts:

‘A FEW YEARS AGO, NO ONE WOULD TALK ABOUT EQUAL PAY’
Addressing the issue of equal pay, Kareena said there has been a shift in Bollywood as a lot of female actors have started being vocal about it. “Just a few years ago, no one would talk about a man or woman actually getting equal pay in a movie. Now there are a lot of us being very vocal about it,” she said. “I make it quite clear what I want and I think that respect should be given. It’s not about being demanding, it’s about being respectful towards women. And I think things are kind of changing,” she added.

Kareena, who hails from the iconic Kapoor film family of the Indian film industry, said she has got work purely on the basis of her hard work. “When Karisma joined the film industry, she was the only one in the family working. So it was us, the women, who took the dynasty forward,” she said.

‘PEOPLE TOLD ME MY CAREER WAS OVER WHEN I MARRIED SAIF’
Kareena was quite successful in 2012 when she decided to marry Saif Ali Khan, who was 10 years her senior and previously married with two children. At the time, the actress was warned against tying the knot, and told that it would derail her career.

“When I married Saif, so many people told me that my career would be over because no producer wants to work with a married actress. At that time, no other Bollywood actress got married and then continued to work. But I just thought: Okay, well, if it does end my career, then that’s fine, that’s my destiny. I’m not going to not marry the person that I love,” said the actress.

‘DON’T WANT PHOTOS AIRBRUSHED ’COZ I DON’T LOOK AS SKINNY AS KATE MOSS’
The actress also spoke about displaying her baby bump and refusing to have her postmaternity shoots airbrushed.

“Most Bollywood actresses, when they get pregnant, don’t leave the house because they are stressed about how they look, that they are no longer this glamorous diva, worried if they put on some weight that people will judge them. There’s still a lot of those taboos. But I just wanted to own it,” she said.

“Pregnancy is pretty common, so why are we trying to hide it behind the curtain?” she continued, adding, “I don’t want my photos airbrushed because I’m not looking as skinny as Kate Moss... I don’t want to look like that in my photos.”

Kareena Kapoor even briefly wondered if she should consider a surrogate-Saif Ali Khan

Taimur In Nappy Ads? 'Don't Be Cheap,' Saif Ali Khan Told By Kareena Kapoor

In this exclusive excerpt from ‘Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Pregnancy Bible’, the actor opens up about her not-so-easy pregnancies
THE TIMES OF INDIA (August 15, 2021)

A celebrity pregnancy may appear very glamorous. You’ve seen me or other actresses in beautiful clothes, professional makeup, posing for magazines with our hair perfectly done, smiling and happy. Maybe you thought to yourself, damn, she is having such an easy pregnancy! But trust me when I say I am as normal as the next person. Whether it is morning sickness or exhaustion, crazy food cravings or the anxiety new moms feel, I have been through it, just like you.

FIRST-TIME LUCKY
Luckily, my first pregnancy was amazing. Taimur never troubled me in my tummy, although he troubles me now. I didn’t have morning sickness, though I did get a little tired. Those headaches also stopped within the first two months. I was energised, out-and-about, and so very happy. I travelled for a large chunk of my pregnancy. One major highlight was going to Rome. We stood in the Sistine Chapel, in awe of the beautiful frescos up above us. We went to every site, every museum in Rome and Florence. Saif has been an art history student so travelling with him is like a lesson in itself! I partied like crazy too, often going to bed at 3 am. And of course I worked through my pregnancy and finished all my film and brand commitments. In fact, I was on my feet till a day before I delivered Taimur in December 2016. But my experience during my second pregnancy was the opposite. It’s not just me. Many women have drastically different experiences across their pregnancies — everything, from symptoms to cravings, can be poles apart. Maybe it had something to do with my age. I was pregnant with Taimur at 36 and at 40 with Jehangir.

I found out I was pregnant with Jehangir in May 2020, right in the middle of the global Covid pandemic and India’s lockdown. We were all at home in Mumbai, with nowhere to go, feeling a little bit restless and hot, watching the headlines. That summer I got ill for four days — it was sudden, terrible nausea. I instantly knew I was pregnant. We were all thrilled when my test was positive. This pregnancy was worrisome though. I was much less active. And I had an overriding sense of anxiety because of Covid, which I know a million others felt too. But, above all, I was just very sick. I was ridden with exhaustion and low blood pressure pretty much through my whole pregnancy and I had terrible nausea which stretched into the second trimester.

I could write a book on morning sickness! You know that constant feeling of being on the brink of nausea (like acid reflux combined with the urge to vomit)? I had that every single day for the first 17–18 weeks. On some days, the antinausea medication wouldn’t even work. You wouldn’t have wanted to meet me during that time — I was ratty, snappy and constantly belching. I would belch sitting on the sofa in the afternoon even without having had a heavy meal. Let me tell you there is very little glamour in a belching film-star!

Jehangir, by default, was a Cbaby like Taimur. If you’ve had one C, it is very hard to follow up with a natural delivery. I waited till 40 weeks for Jehangir and then opted for a C. I was very uncomfortable in the OT because Jehangir was still very high and thus was pressing on my diaphragm. My back was intensely pressured too.

COVID BABY
Having Jehangir during the pandemic meant my parents and sister couldn’t visit me. Saif couldn’t stay with me either. I spent three days in the hospital by myself. Of course I felt alone. I would wear my N95 mask every time a nurse or doctor entered the room, which meant I was often nursing Jehangir with a mask on. It was a strange feeling.

Post both births, I was adrift for the first seven days. It happens to all of us. I don’t think I reacted very well to a Caesarean.

Want a confession? I didn’t think I looked especially attractive during many months of my pregnancy with Jehangir, especially in the first trimester. The baby-making process sucked me of all my energy. I had puffy under-eye dark circles. I also got dry patches on my face. During Taimur’s time, I was younger, more outgoing; I wanted to dress, to wear make-up, to look pretty and to party.

By the last trimester though with both my pregnancies, I didn’t look or feel especially sexy. My stomach was popping out, my thighs had ballooned. The added weight on my legs led to spider veins, and my ankles looked like two balls.

There was a day, shortly after I had Taimur, when I was alone in my room. I undressed for a shower. And I looked at myself in the mirror. Reality hit hard. There I was — scarred, chubby, puffy, tired. I saw the baby bulge, the dark circles, the dressing bandage of my C incision. I cannot describe how I felt. But then when I held Taimur in my arms, I felt like I could do this a million times over.

FAT BUT NOT ASHAMED
I had one great shoot through this pregnancy. It was for the Puma campaign in my last trimester. I wore tight clothes and didn’t mind ‘looking fat’. I couldn’t shy away from that. I think the crew was more hesitant than I was. I told them I am not a supermodel. Hey, if you have a fit and active pregnancy and you plan to work out, walk and do yoga, you need those well-fitted and comfortable workout clothes, right? So go ahead! I explicitly asked the company not to ‘touch up’ these photographs. And the pictures came out just great. If my pregnancy weight journey can give even a few women some body goals, I’ll be thrilled.

KAREENA BRIEFLY CONSIDERED A SURROGATE: SAIF

I still remember when Kareena and I first talked about our relationship seriously. It was many years ago, a casual evening. We were drinking wine and chatting on the balcony. She said she loved being with me but was worried that her work would suffer if she married and settled down. She was nervous about it. But I saw something in her. I was really surprised that she wasn’t as sure as I was of the future: that she would continue to remain a huge star.

Of course things are pressured for an actress in our industry. How you look is often everything! When we first began our relationship, she was at size zero, shopping in the kids’ section of stores because those were the only things that would fit her. She was doing super well for herself with work, and her appearance played a big part in it. Pregnancies take their toll on your body; it takes you a while to return to shape. Kareena was worried about these things. When we first talked about having children, she even briefly wondered if she should consider a surrogate. But she then realised that everything in life needs your 100%. Once she had made up her mind, she was all in.

I have seen Kareena grow from a highly strung actor (which is good for the job) to a grounded and mature woman. And she has changed as a mother too through her two pregnancies. When she had Taimur, she was very wary of him. She didn’t know how to pick him up, to soothe him. With Jehangir, Kareena is very different, more maternal. She holds Jehangir, calms him, distracts him — she does everything she found hard the first time. It’s almost like she’s become another person. I suppose the lesson is to be patient with yourself.

Saif Ali Khan jets off to Maldives today with family to bring in his 51st birthday

It’s family time for Saif Ali Khan, who’s taking a short break from his film shoots. The actor turns 51 on August 16, and to ring in the special day the Kapoors have set off to the land of sun and sand, the Maldives, today.

Shedding more light on the family vacation, a source informs Bombay Times, “Saif is looking at having a cosy family time this year on his birthday. He was just too exhausted with the work and wanted to hit the pause button to relax and unwind. This is going to be his first break after a long time as he was juggling between the tiring shooting schedules and other work commitments. He will be spending the much needed familytime at a peaceful resort on a private island.”

The actor has been shooting for his upcoming multi-starrer horror comedy, and the mythological film Adipurush starring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon.

BT has it that Kareena Kapoor Khan planned the family getaway. However, the birthday celebration is going to be a low key affair. “Kareena was very excited to have a good time, so she planned every detail of the vacation. It will just be the couple and their kids Tim and Jehangir aka Jeh. No more guests are expected as Saif wanted to keep it subdued and be in the company of his family. Both Kareena and he are very excited as it is going to be Jeh’s first family outing,” adds the source.

This is what Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan are calling their younger son for now

Rachana Dubey (BOMBAY TIMES; July 9, 2021)

Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan welcomed their second child, a baby boy, on February 21 this year. However, there’s been silence on the name they plan to keep for him. This is unlike the time when Taimur was born; his name was not only revealed within weeks of his birth, but the first visuals of the newborn also surfaced on social media within days.

We’ve heard that Kareena and Saif have been toying with several names for their second born, but are yet to finalise one for official documentation.

However, BT has it that they currently call him Jeh. Hearsay is that the royal Pataudi couple has been deliberating over various names, including Mansoor, the name of Saif’s father, cricket legend Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. We reached out to Saif for a comment, but he had not responded till we went to press.

We haven’t decided baby’s name yet-Randhir Kapoor

Nana Randhir Kapoor shares his excitement as Saif-Kareena become parents to baby boy
Upala KBR (MID-DAY; February 22, 2021)

Little Tim Tim is now a big brother. Sunday kicked off on a joyous note for the Khans and Kapoors as Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan became proud parents to a baby boy again. The mommy-to-be was taken to the Breach Candy Hospital in the wee hours of Sunday morning, where she gave birth to the tiny tot around 9 am.

When mid-day extended congratulations to Randhir Kapoor, the senior actor said, “We are on top of the world. It feels wonderful to become a nana again. I met Kareena and the baby at the hospital. Both are doing fine.” Besides Randhir, Khan, son Taimur, Karisma and Babita made rounds of the hospital. While Khan’s mother Sharmila Tagore is at their ancestral property in Pataudi, Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Kemmu and Kapoor’s aunt Rima Jain are expected to meet the latest addition to the family soon.

As good wishes poured in from industry friends and fans, Twitterati began speculating what the couple will name their second-born. When quizzed about the baby’s name, Randhir said, “It’s too early. We haven’t decided the baby’s name yet.”

In 2016, the star couple was subjected to online vitriol and trolling when they named their first-born Taimur. While detractors claimed that the name was inspired by Turkish invader Timur, Khan had clarified that Taimur means iron. Affected by the episode, Kapoor had recently said on her chat show What Women Want, “After the whole controversy of Taimur, Saif and I have not even thought about [the name of the second child]. We’re going to leave it till last minute and then spring a surprise.”
