Saif Ali Khan says star kids are ‘made by the audience’
HINDUSTAN TIMES (February 10, 2024)

Saif Ali Khan enjoys a level of privilege in Bollywood by proximity of being the son of veteran actor Sharmila Tagore. The next generation of the Pataudi family have followed suit, with daughter, actor Sara Ali Khan debuting in 2018 in Kedarnath, and son, Ibrahim Ali Khan prepping for his launch. Married to actor Kareena Kapoor Khan, their kids Taimur and Jehangir are also pap favourites. It’s no surprise as people are curious about star kids.

The actor said, “The audience and people are interested in star kids. Look at The Archies (2023). We’ve only been talking about certain [actors those who are star kids].”

The musical marked the debut of actors Suhana Khan, daughter of actor Shah Rukh Khan, Agastya Nanda, grandson of actor Amitabh Bachchan, and Khushi Kapoor, daughter of late actor Sridevi.

Saif told Film Companion how cameras have been chasing his younger kids since their birth: “They’re constantly being photographed, being followed. Tomorrow, if someone wants to make a movie on them, it’s not rocket science, because someone would obviously be [thinking about their popularity]. So we have to decide why this attention [exists] and where it comes from.”

Recalling the time Taimur was practising taekwondo, “people photographed him and it was all over the internet”. He adds, “What makes the star kid is the press, the photographers, and then the audience.”
