A police complaint has been filed against well-known actor-filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar for allegedly abusing and slapping a person. The incident took place on Pune-Solapur highway on Friday night.

The Vaastav amd Natsamrat director and the complainant, Kailash Satpute, got into a heated argument after Satpute’s car brushed Manjrekar’s vehicle from behind. A video of the incident has gone viral, too.

Speaking to us, Bhausaheb Patil, police inspector, from Yavat police station in Pune, said, “According to the complaint, Manjrekar was driving on the Pune-Solapur highway. On a stretch, complainant Kailash Satpute’s car brushed Manjrekar’s car. Following that, the actor got down from his car and the two got into a verbal spat. Later, Manjrekar allegedly abused and slapped the complainant. Based on that complaint from Satpute, we have registered a non cognizable offence against the actor.”

On his part, Manjrekar says that if anyone should have filed a complaint, it should have been him. “I fail to understand that if you are driving a car and another person bangs your vehicle from behind, how are you at fault? And that man had no sense to apologise; he’s made such a hue and cry about the entire issue. It was an accident, I haven’t murdered anyone. The matter is getting unnecessary importance. I think I should have filed a complaint first. I was on my way to a film shoot so I didn’t want to get into all this,” shared Manjrekar.
