Mirror
has learnt that John Abraham who will start filming Robbie Grewal’s
espionage thriller RAW: Romeo Akbar Walter from Sunday on a set in
Mumbai will be joined by Mouni Roy. The actress who became a household
name with Ekta Kapoor’s TV show, Naagin, has been signed on as his
leading lady for the film which from the city will travel through
Gujarat, the Kashmir Valley and Nepal, aiming to wrap up by August-end..Mouni, who is making her big screen debut opposite Akshay Kumar in Reema Kagti’s Gold and also features in Ayan Mukerji’s Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt-starrer Brahmastra, confirmed the news, saying, “I’ve given auditions in the past but this film just happened. I went for a meeting and the team instantly felt I suited the character as I have an old world vibe. They offered me the role and I immediately said ‘yes’. I wasn’t happy with the other offers I got around the time but I am excited about this film.”
The team is currently conducting readings and look tests and Mouni is all praise for her co-star. “I love John sir’s work. He has an intimidating personality but everyone says wonderful things about him. These days, I’m kind of numb. After facing the camera with Akshay sir, I’ve worked with Ranbir and Alia but am yet to shoot with Bachchan sir (Amitabh Bachchan who is also a part of Brahmastra). When I do, I will be so nervous I’ll probably hide in a corner,” the actress laughs.
Director Grewal informs that Mouni has a multi-layered role and it was her histrionics that got her onboard. Ajay Kapoor, who is one of the film’s producers alongside Dheeraj Wadhawan, Vanessa Walia, Gary Grewal and Bunty Walia asserts, “She fits the part perfectly.”
Meanwhile, buzz is, Salman Khan has taken Mouni under his wings and she will also be a part of Dabangg 3 but the actress refutes this, saying, “I haven’t even received a call. This is the most bizarre rumour I’ve heard. Ever since I appeared on Bigg Boss, my name gets attached to every film Salman is doing. It’s demeaning! I hope one day I get to work with Salman but I haven’t been offered anything so far.”
