Kareena Kapoor Khan is riding high on the success of her buddy film Veere Di Wedding. The mother of one not only made heads turn with her new improved svelte figure but also impressed everyone with her performance. The 37-year-old, who has delivered several hits in her 18-year-old career, maintains that today she is at a stage where she no longer needs to prove anything to anyone. Kareena says, “I’m a practical person who knows exactly what she should be doing. I don’t think I need to prove myself as an actress. Thankfully, now people know how I am as a performer. Today, when I read a script, I see if there’s something special for me to do. I only want to play great characters.”
That prompts us to ask her if she would like to explore the digital space like hubby Saif Ali Khan who is the first Bollywood star to act in a web series. She replies, “I’m open to any kind of medium. But again, it has to be something really different and special for me to say yes to it. Saif has done an incredible job in Sacred Games. If I get something out of the box and extraordinary, then why not? It’s all about a good, tight script and some shows on the digital space have outstanding writing.”
The award-winning actress adds, “Digital is definitely a big space today. With different OTT platforms, the world has become a smaller space. I’m happy this revolution has happened. Personally, Saif and I love watching a lot of international series.”
Kareena feels the audience’s interests and tastes are evolving, too, which is prompting filmmakers to experiment with their movies. She reasons, “Producers and directors are trying different kinds of subjects today. Some will succeed, some won’t but at least, we are making a collaborative effort.”
While many of her contemporaries have been judges on TV shows, Bebo has stayed away from the bandwagon. However, she insists, “I’ve got several offers, but it has never worked out because of some or the other issue.” She adds, “I’m not averse to taking up something on the small screen, but it can’t be a daily soap for sure.”
