A star-studded bash for ‘Mr One-derful’ Yash and ‘Little Miss Onederful’ Roohi, themed blue and pink, was planned weeks in advance by doting dad Karan Johar to mark the twins’ first birthday. Apart from balloons and cake, there were strings of photographs capturing memories from the year gone by on display. However, it wasn’t Roohi’s party dress that raised the fashion stakes, but the host’s pink jumper with a teddy bear emblazoned on it – while it was an ode to the birthday duo’s two favourite things, KJo joked that the out-fit really was a ‘midlife crisis’.

The Wednesday celebrations at the Johar residence in Bandra also marked a reunion for Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukerji, who’d last worked together on Reema Kagti’s Talaash. The duo, along with Alia Bhatt, was quickly labelled the ‘perfect girl squad’ at the do. The imperfect trio, however, were Alia and her fellow ‘Students’. While she and Varun Dhawan, who referred to the twins as their siblings, chatted for a bit, the 24-yearold actress and former beau Sidharth Malhotra maintained a studied distance from each other. The duo had been in an on-and-off relationship for three years; calling it quits late last year on a less than cordial note. Sid posed for pictures in matching ‘Yash and Roohi’ sweatshirts with Shweta Bachchan and others.

Varun worked the room, pausing for brief conversations with almost everyone, before making a quick exit a la Sonakshi Sinha and Deepika Padukone. Aishwarya and Aaradhya Bachchan, who’d returned from their short holiday in Australia the previous day, Tusshar Kapoor with son Laksshya, Mira Rajput with daughter Misha, Soha Ali Khan with daughter Inaaya Naumi and Kiran Rao with son Azad, were also in attendance.

Shah Rukh Khan made the most eventful appearance, with female fans outside KJo’s building crowding his car on their way in. Inside, his youngest offspring, AbRam, hung out with Taimur and a dozen toy cars, while Bebo, SRK and KJo settled in for a chat.
