Mirror (August 9) had informed that Vidya Balan will be taking on the avatars of Rani Lakshmibai, Razia Sultana and Mirabai in an important sequence in her upcoming post-Partition drama, Begum Jaan, currently being shot in Delhi. Now, Mirror has learnt that despite horse-riding lessons, the Begum took a tumble but completed the shoot.

Says a source from the sets, “The horse was a little frisky and Vidya who was battling it out as Razia Sultana slipped off. But being the professional that she is, she resumed shooting within a few minutes of the incident.“

Director Srijit Mukherji admitted to the mishap. “She did slip off the horse, but only partially, because the saddle had slipped. It was a difficult sequence but the final take was perfect. I had offered her the option of a body double but she wanted to ride the horse herself so we didn't shoot with the body double.“

The shoot is expected to wrap up in two days. The film delves into the lives of 11 women living in a brothel that finds itself divided by the newly-chalked LOC, with half of the house in India and the other half in Pakistan post the Partition.
