It's been eight months since
her last film, Dilwale, opposite Shah Rukh Khan opened, and even though
Kajol hasn't started on another movie yet, she did face the camera on
Tuesday for an upcoming talk show, BFFs. The actress and mum-of-two
joined make-up artiste and friend of 26 years, Mickey Contractor, for an
hour-long episode of the series for a no-holds-barred trip down memory
lane, generously peppered with irreverent humour, cuss words,
conversations surrounding “what's breaking the internet“ and
lesser-known nuggets from her love life before she settled down with
Ajay Devgn in 1999.
Last week, Sonam Kapoor and filmmaker-celebrity photographer Atul Kasbekar teamed up for an episode at Mehboob Studios. Next in line for the Colors Infinity show are Kangana Ranaut and Deepika Padukone who will appear with their besties, and chacha-bhatija Anil and Arjun Kapoor. “Being with Mickey is great fun and hopefully will translate on the show,“ Kajol informed Mirror after wrapping up the four-hour shoot.
Sharing anecdotes, Kajol recalled how her mother, actress Tanuja, only agreed to let her sign her debut film, Bekhudi, after learning that Mickey would be doing her hair and make-up and Gautam Rajadhyaksha, the late fashion photographer was writing the film. It was Mickey who convinced everyone that Kajol should retain her distinctive unibrow.
The hour-long episode opens with a 40-question rapid-fire round, followed by challenges like “Read my lips“ and a quiz. Indo-Canadian supermodel, Kamal Sidhu will be introducing each episode.
Kajol was candid about motherhood, saying she enjoyed being a full-time, stay-at-home mom, and also opened up about Ajay, revealing that she'd asked Mickey to guess who she was getting married to. He went through the whole list of actors with her. “I was shocked when I heard it was Ajay, I never imagined them as a couple! They had done films together, but he is very different from her, I guess that's where the attraction came in,“ admitted Mickey.
