There are talks of an elaborate premiere for Sarbjit in Pakistan that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Randeep Hooda, Richa Chadha and director Omung Kumar may attend.
The film is believed to delineate Indian national Sarabjit Singh’s sister’s 30-year battle to bring home her brother after being imprisoned in Pakistan for alleged spying.
Notes Omung, “There is absolutely nothing anti-Pakistan about Sarbjit. I don’t know why people feel it might be a propaganda film against Pakistan. Both the nations should watch this film.”
Moreover, the film has been cleared with practically no cuts by India’s Censor Board, in spite of its controversial politically charged subject matter.
Says a source, “We’ve only asked for a couple of abusive words to be removed from the dialogue. Otherwise, not a shot from the film has been removed.”
The film has been granted a UA (for children accompanied by adults) and is being praised by sources in the Censor Board for refraining from any anti-Pakistan references.
In fact, says the source, Sarbjit should make the Pakistanis very happy for its objective attitude to the subject.
