Manipuri model Lin Laishram,
who was in consideration to play Mary Kom in Omung Kumar's biopic of
the boxing champion, will now be seen playing an interesting role in
Vishal Bhardwaj's Rangoon. Calling her character special for more reasons
than one, she says it means a lot to her, 'not just as an actor, but
also for my people back home'. She explains, “My character in the film
is very strong and also represents the
women from my state.“
Lin, who was stereotyped for her North-Eastern looks during her struggling days in Bollywood, says, “Even though the concept of the typical Indian beauty hasn't changed, it is certainly evolving. I'm not bound by boundaries, or by looks. And to be cast in a movie with such dedicated and talented actors like Saif Ali Khan, Kangana Ranaut and Shahid Kapoor does not feel like work. It's a treat for me.“
