His next directorial outing can wait. What is
occupying Shoojit Sircar’s mind currently is to first unleash three of
his productions, which are ready for release. Even as he is dabbling
with quite a few exciting offers to direct a film post the super-success
of Piku, he is hunting for the right timeline to release
Running Shaadi.com, Satra Ko Shaadi Hai and Banana.
Amit Sadh and Taapsee Pannu starrer Running Shaadi.com has been ready for over a year now. In fact, there were talks of bringing the film last August, but then it was pushed ahead. Satra Ko Shaadi Hai with Barun Sobti and Sapna Pabbi in lead was announced more than a year back. On the other hand, Banana, which features a bunch of 17-year-olds was announced a couple of years ago. Each of these films is in the last stage of production and now that Piku is through, Shoojit is channelising his energy into bringing these films past the finishing line.
Though as a director, Shoojit was expected to bring on floors 1911, a film on football with John Abraham as the leading man, it would be some time before it turns into reality. “I am working on many stories but I also have to release Running Shaadi.com, Satra Ko Shaadi Hai and Banana, which by the way is a tentative title,” says Shoojit, “I am quite busy with these films. Running Shaadi.com is in post production and we have been holding it for the right release. Satra Ko Shaadi Hai is in the final stages of editing. Banana is a small non-starcast film.”
He doesn’t mind waiting for some more time before bringing them on screen. “See, these are small films; finding the right window for them is very important. We are working on that though,” he promises.
When it comes to his own film 1911, Shoojit says, “I am working on the subject, but it is a long way to go since the scripting is still on. It is a sports film and needs a lot of work. Yes, John (Abraham) and I want to make this film on football but it would take time before everything is put together well on paper itself.”
Meanwhile, he is working with his steady writing partner Juhi Chaturvedi on something hard-hitting all over again after Madras Cafe. “Yes, both of us are onto something which is in the action thriller zone. Par time lagega. jab pakk jaayega, tab paros denge,” says Shoojit with a smile, before signing off.
