Debutante Ankita Srivastava reminisces about her joke-happy co-star and her maharani mom, Dimple Kapadia

Anees Bazmee's upcoming comedy, Welcome Back, will see debutant Ankita Srivastava romancing Anil
Kapoor and Nana Patekar in the first half. Post
interval, she's wooed by her on-screen childhood buddy, John Abraham.
The 24-year-old newcomer plays Rajkumari Chandni of Najafgarh, whose
Maharani mom, Dimple Kapadia, is looking for a wealthy groom for her.
Away from the cameras too, Dimple was a mentor-mom to Ankita, giving her tips on everything, from make-up to bikinis. The 58-year-old actress was on the sets when Ankita was romping around with Anil Kapoor in a golden swimsuit.
“Dimpleji prodded me to be as bindaas and confident as she was in a polka-dotted bikini in Bobby. I had to keep a check on every calorie since my curves were on display and Dimpleji would be sitting there munching chips and sandwiches, ragging me for not being able to gorge on junk food,“ she reminisces with a smile.
Besides Dimple, John also enjoyed pulling her leg. One day, when she walked onto the set, in a golden dress with a jacket and shoes to match, to shoot for a song with him, he burst out laughing. “He told everyone, 'Revolver Rani aa gayi.' I was mortified and burst into tears. Finally, it was Dimpleji who rescued me, chastising John and telling everyone that since I was the youngest and least experienced actor on the sets, they should cut me some slack,“ she narrates. And did Anil and Nana who play wannabe dons, Manju bhai and Uday bhai, also play pranks on her? “No, older men love me,“ she giggles.
