Sanjay Gupta who returned from a family vacation in Dubai on Thursday was all geared up to start shooting his upcoming thriller Jazbaa, yesterday. His unit had reached Ellora Studio in Mira Road but looking at the torrential rain and the weather forecast, Sanjay decided to cancel the shoot.
"My actors, Aishwarya (Rai), Shabanaji (Azmi), Jackie (Shroff), Chandan Roy Sanyal would have reached the studio but there was no guarantee that they'd be able to make it back safely after the shoot," he explains.
It was not an easy decision to take because they were filming on an expensive set scheduled to be pulled down in a week's time even though the schedule goes on till the month end. "We photographed the Bombay High Court from the inside because I didn't want to show the centuries-old courtroom in my film. A lot has changed in the way it is lit up. There are air-conditioners inside too. We have incorporated all the details into the set. The cancellation will cost me at least Rs 20 lakh because you don't get insurance cover for rains. And getting fresh combination dates may be a problem but I couldn't take a risk with my actors," he argues.
