Ajay Devgn and Tabu, who
have wrapped up the Drishyam schedule, talk of how they had a blast
during shooting. These two grew up in the same vicinity of Juhu. Tabu's
cousin Sameer Arya and Ajay, or VD (short for Vishal Devgn) - as she
calls him - have a bagful of memories to draw from.
The two friends say that shooting for Drishyam was a breeze because every evening they'd sit down together and keep pulling out embarrassing and funny incidents from their teens. Tabu recalled how Ajay's strict father Veeru Devgan would often keep asking her where Vishal was, or why he had come home late the earlier evening. A sheepish Ajay would sweetly apologise for putting her, Sameer and their other friends in a spot all those many years ago.
It was a constant “VD, yeh yaad hai?“ or “Tabu, do you remember this?“ banter which the friends regaled the other crew members with.
Tabu and Ajay have also worked in films like Vijaypath, Haqeeqat and Thakshak in the early phase of their careers. So they had many anecdotes to mull over even from that period.
Other childhood friends who also have many reference points from their
growing up years are Hrithik Roshan and Farhan Akhtar. These two worked
beautifully together on Farhan's Lakshya and though it was alleged that
there was a little awkwardness
between them when Duggu dropped out one of Zoya's earlier films, the
two friends rediscovered one another during the making of
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. In fact, Hrithik is currently rooting for
Zoya and Farhan's Dil Dhadakne Do, a film that he has only heard good
things about.
Another set of close friends who have known one another
for the better
part of their lives, is Tusshar Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan. The two
stars who worked in his first film Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai, remember how
they had lost touch with one
another for a while when Tusshar was away in America for
Masters. But they rediscovered their friendship on the set of
MKKH and Jeena Sirf Mere Liye, and from then on they have looked
forward to working together. “During the Golmaal series shoots
in Goa, we would often
step out for a meal in the evenings,“ says Tusshar, adding, “Bebo is one
of my close friends, so working with her has always been delightful.
There are so many memories that I have strung together of our 20s.“
