Sapna Pabbi who has gone topless for her debut film admits to her growing friendship with her director
Sanyukta Iyer (MUMBAI MIRROR; January 5, 2014)
British-Indian actress Sapna
Pabbi is a familiar face on TV thanks to her role
as Anil Kapoor's daughter in 24 Season 1. Her big
screen debut in the horror film, Khamoshiyan, will be a lot more fiery,
thanks to a topless scene.
The 24-year-old plays Meera, a seductress who wants to own the souls of the two men in her life, played by Ali Fazal and Gurmeet Choudhary. But it was not the two shirtless men who caught Sapna's eye.“We all play sexy, interesting characters and have become good friends off-screen as well. But I'm closest to Karan (Karan Darra, the film's 23-year-old, single and ready to mingle director),“ she admits.
Khamoshiyan is loosely based on Ashok Kumar's 1949 film, Mahal, which revolved around a man who becomes obsessed with a beautiful ghost. Madhubala's Ayega aanewala haunts us even after six decades.
Stepping into the icon's shoes was a tough job for Sapna.“The Bhatts are very demanding and I was constantly pushed to do better. Fortunately, the character and I have a lot in common. Like Meera, I am not as smart as I think I am,“ she laughs. “And we both love to play mind games. I lose often, Meera never does, that's the basic difference.“
Sapna wants to continue playing powerful, dominating characters. “I could be an item-girl by day and a bandit-queen by night,“ she points out. “Like Rekha in Khoon Bhari Maang I'd love to chase a man on a horse with a whip in my hand,“she adds enthusiastically.
The model-turned-actor who has a three-film-deal with the Bhatts, has also started shooting for John Abraham and Shoojit Sircar's film, Satra Ko Shaadi Hai. “Someday, I hope to get a chance to work with all the Khans --Shah Rukh, Salman and Aamir. And yes, Farhan Akhtar who is always ready to experiment with his roles. He walks into a film and it's an assured hit,“ she gushes.
