Singham Returns is home turf, haan?
It is more than that. I feel comfortable and protected with high male testosterone (Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn) around me. They are both dear friends and we have done two of my career's big hits - from the Golmaal series - together. God willing, with Singham Returns, we should score a hat-trick.

Describe your work equation with Rohit.
A director-actor relationship is very special. Every actor likes to be projected in a certain way . I'm in sync with Rohit as a filmmaker and I'm happy. He knows what works for Bebo (laughs) - what I want and what I don't. He wrote the role keeping me in mind and I'm grateful to him and immensely flattered, too. I feel that every actor brings to the table a certain amount of energy. In Rohit's film, be it Golmaal or Chennai Express, even the actresses put in so much energy. Comedy, dialogue, drama - there are ample doses of all these in his films.

I read a report saying you refused six films in five months. Why?
No comments. People know that I am reading a lot of scripts and I am open to reading more. It is an actor's prerogative to say yes or no to a film. Why is such a big deal being made of it? I have time and again said that I don't need to do a heroine-oriented film just to prove something. Or I do not need to do 'X' film just because it is the 'done' thing. When I feel the role is best for me, I will do it. It's not as if I am shying away from any particular role. I am waiting and wanting to do a role that suits my personality and also fits in my timeline.

Saif and you have exchanged directors. You are working with Kabir Khan and he is working with Reema Kagti. Next we will hear he is working with Rohit...
Just imagine. Both husband and wife, two actors living under the same roof and we're exchanging directors. The moment he gave a nod to Reema's film, he was asking me, 'Bebo, is Reema a hard taskmaster?' And I was asking things about Kabir. That's how we exchange notes on our directors. I like it this way.

Just now, I overheard you saying Saif and you are matching diaries. What was that? Are you working together soon?
No. Our diaries are being matched for our vacation in August and September. Time is important. Saif and I have enough time and space apart, we need enough time together also. From March this year, I have been shooting in Goa and Hyderabad. Saif has been working in Los Angeles and Detroit. Honestly, I have lost track of where all his shootings have taken him. When I was doing five films, he was doing two. Now that he is doing five films, I am doing two. As we speak, he is in London. He cannot keep coming back to India, so I have to fly to meet him. It is nice to sometimes plan our lives together. There is no denying that there's a shift in gear.

So, are filmmakers expected to tell you schedules in advance?
Not only me, every actor in the world needs to know his travel and work schedules well in advance. How else will they plan their lives? One has to strategise and plan. Like I said, we plan to travel after Singham Returns releases.

When do you plan to move into your new home?
Next year. Moving into a new place will take up a lot of energy. I would like to do that uninterrupted. Besides, the house will take some more time to get done.

Are you happy for your sister-in-law Soha (Ali Khan), who recently got engaged?
I'm thrilled. Kunal (Kemmu) and Soha are very much in love and I'm glad they are engaged.
