Siddharth Nigam on being replaced by Aaman Devgan in Azaad: "There was no explanation, no closure, just silence"

Siddharth on being replaced by Aaaman Devgan in Azaad

Vishakha Pandit (HINDUSTAN TIMES; June 10, 2025)

Recently, it came to light that Siddharth Nigam was passed over for the lead role in Azaad in favour of Aaman Devgan, actor Ajay Devgn’s nephew.

Siddharth, who has appeared in Hindi films like Dhoom 3 (2013) and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (2023), tells us, “After 10 years in the industry, it hits hard when something you’ve worked towards slips away because of something out of your control, like someone’s last name. I was in talks, prepped, and ready, and then suddenly the project went to Aaman. There was no explanation, no closure, just silence.”

However, he holds no resentment and instead points to the industry’s “unspoken requirement” that shapes an actor’s rise. “I don’t have a godfather, but sometimes, I wish I did. I’ve always had to be my own support system. My mother, my brother — we’ve built everything from scratch. I have worked really hard to be where I am today,” he says.

Having done OTT films such as Drive (2019) and Mrs Serial Killer (2020), actor Jacqueliene Fernandez is set to mark her web series debut with the show G.O.A.T (Greatest Of All Time). We have exclusively learnt that the show, which also marks the OTT debut of actor Neil Nitin Mukesh, will have a musical setting, with Jacqueliene and Neil pitted against each other.

A source says, “Jacqueliene plays a dance mentor, while Neil plays a music mentor to the kids. The show will revolve around their rivalry. It is a musical and will feature an ensemble cast, including actors Siddharth Nigam and Sumedh Mudgalkar.”

The project is currently being shot in Mumbai. It holds a lot of importance for Neil, who hails from a musical background, with his dad Nitin Mukesh and late grandfather, Mukesh, being veteran musicians. The source says, “While Jacqueliene is an amazing dancer, Neil comes from a musical legacy. He plays the piano and this is the first time he is getting to honour his musical heritage on screen. He is quite excited.”

It is a new struggle now after I’ve made my film debut-Siddharth Nigam

Siddharth Nigam is set to work with Salman Khan in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan.

Tanvi Trivedi (BOMBAY TIMES; May 29, 2023)

Siddharth Nigam started his career as a child artiste (he was seen in Dhoom 3 as junior Aamir Khan) and now he has stepped into Bollywood as a grown-up. He made his debut in Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan recently and is looking forward to bagging more films. He feels like his actual journey has just begun. “I have done a big film, but it is not that I have signed five films after that. It will be another struggle and a new journey for me now.”

Recounting the time when he first met Salman, Siddharth says, “I was shooting in Karjat years ago and got an opportunity to meet him. Salman liked my work because I was a gymnast. I remember at that time I told my mom, ‘Imagine if I get to do a film with him’. And years later, it actually happened!”

In the last few years, Siddharth did a few TV shows with Aladdin Naam Toh Suna Hoga being his last show. He has kept away from the small screen for almost two years now. He says, “I began my career on TV with Mahakumbh (2014). Thereafter, I was chosen to play the younger Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat. It was a two-month role, which got extended to two years. And though it was a role of a lifetime, I got categorized as a child actor for a long time. After that show, I got several film offers to play the younger version of the hero. ”

‘WANT MY ROOM TO BE LIKE A 7-STAR HOTEL’
Siddharth recently bought a 5-BHK in Mumbai and is very excited about it. He shares, “This is my dream house. It is huge and I am so happy that I have reached this far in life,” says the actor, who lived in Allahabad before moving to Mumbai in 2016.

He adds, “There are many obstacles that we have crossed in life to reach here. I still remember those days when we used to go to a fair in my hometown and not buy toys because we would feel it’s better to save that money for something else. So from those days to reach this point feels surreal.”

The actor is currently busy doing the interiors. “Even though we have interior designers on board, I like to choose what I want in my house. I am enjoying this process.”

Talking about his room, Siddharth says, “When I enter my room, it should look like a 7-star hotel with every facility. That’s what I really want for my room. There are many ideas in my mind, which hopefully I can implement.”

I have seen my mother struggle and I always wanted to give her a good life-Siddharth Nigam

IT IS HARD
TO SAY NO
TO WORK: TO WORK:
SIDDHARTH
NIGAM
Vinay MR Mishra (HINDUSTAN TIMES; September 6, 2022)

Imagine coming from a small town and winning hearts, so much so that you get flooded with offers that put you in a dilemma. That’s been the case with actor Siddharth Nigam, who had to let go of several projects owing to his “choosy” criteria. While the 21-year-old has starred in only seven TV shows so far, including cameos and reality shows, he admits rejecting projects is difficult, but imperative.

He explains and says, “I am still learning how to go ahead with things. It’s hard for me to say no to anything, so I never say no, but I explain my reasons for not doing a show. Yes, I have had to make a few difficult decisions, lekin mann maarke koi kaam nahin karna chahiye.”

Siddharth started his career in 2011 and yet he believes this is “just the beginning”. “Picture toh abhi baaki hai,” he boasts, adding, “I’m trying to do better. I’ve grown with every project. As of now, it has been a beautiful journey.”

He goes on to explain how for him, his actor brother Abhishek Nigam and mum Vibha Nigam, life hasn’t been easy. He shares, “Ek time tha jab kuch bhi nahin tha, aisa lagta tha kya karenge. Back then, we used to live in an apartment smaller than 1 BHK. I have seen my mother struggle and I always wanted to give her a good life. I have never looked back.”

The actor’s personal life has always been an area of interest for many, and he claims he is “single” as of now, and only committed to his work.

Siddharth Nigam refused Judwaa 2 as he didn’t want to play ‘bachpan ka role’

Siddharth Nigam’s year started on a mellow note. However, by the middle of the year, “things picked up” for the actor. “I was waiting for something good to happen and I got an offer for a film and I’m really happy with that,” shares the 21-year-old. Ask him if he is talking about actor Salman Khan’s upcoming multi-starrer Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali, and he says “yes”.

Nigam, who is active on TV, has been away from the big screen for some time, despite making his debut in 2013 with Dhoom 3, where he played the roles of young Sahir and Samar (actor Aamir Khan’s character). He also had a cameo in 2017’s Munna Michael, starring actor Tiger Shroff. However, since then, he has chosen to stay away from films.

Ask him the reason, and Nigam says, “I didn’t want to be in the category of a child artiste. That is the main reason why I took the break.”

In fact, he shares that he was offered Judwaa 2 (2017), wherein he “was asked to play the younger version of actor Varun Dhawan’s character” but he had to let go of the movie for the same reason: “I didn’t want to play a popular actor’s bachpan ka role. Main bada ho raha hoon, meri bhi beard aana shuru ho gayi hai, so my time is coming.”

Talking about his current project, Nigam shares, “I’m really fortunate that I got this offer. I’m looking forward to it. I hope it works out well. Sharing screen space with Salman sir is a big opportunity and it’s a special moment for me.”

The upcoming film will also mark the debut of actor-singer Shehnaaz Gill. Nigam and Gill have already started bonding, and their Insta videos are proof. “She is very fun-loving and sweet,” Nigam mentions, adding, “Whenever we are together, we are not very serious. Hassi mazak hi hota hai. Meri mummy se unki bahut banti hai.”

Contrary to rumours, actor Shehnaaz Gill is in no mood to ditch actor-producer Salman Khan’s next, Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali. A source close to the development calls these conjectures “absolutely baseless”.

In fact, we have learnt that she will be seen romancing singer-actor Jassie Gill in the film. “Shehnaaz is very much a part of the project. She is paired opposite Jassie and has a prominent role in the film. They have a cute story,” the source adds.

In the Farhad Samji directorial, actor Pooja Hegde will be seen opposite Khan while dancer-actor Raghav Juyal will romance actor Malvika Sharma.

Interestingly, before Jassie, Shehnaaz was expected to be seen alongside actor Aayush Sharma, who walked out of the film recently. “Technically, no one has replaced Aayush. That character has been rewritten. The makers are currently looking to lock an actor opposite (actor) Siddharth Nigam,” the source mentions.

‘Casting’ cops reunite starstruck Bihar runaway teen with kin

Mumbai: Keen to meet his screen idol and to work in the entertainment industry, a 14-year-old schoolboy ran away from his Bihar home and landed in Mumbai. While his worried parents looked for him, he withdrew money from their bank accounts and booked a hotel room for his stay here.

A police team, posing as casting agents, tracked him down and reunited him with his kin.

A class IX student, the boy had left his home in Begusarai last week. His father is a regional filmmaker. The boy stole a few bearer cheques, his father’s ATM cards and valuables from home. He booked a flight and landed in Bengaluru where he made a withdrawal using the ATM card. He then took another flight to Mumbai where he checked into a hotel in Malad.

“The boy was a fan of the show ‘Aladdin - Naam Toh Suna Hoga’ and its lead actor Siddharth Nigam. He wanted to meet Nigam and find work in the industry,” said inspector Datta Thopte of Malad police station.

The boy called up his mother and told her he was in Mumbai, but he wouldn’t share his location.

He made three cash withdrawals, totalling to Rs 30,000, from his father’s account to make payments at the hotel where he was staying. The last withdrawal was made at an ATM at Malad’s Liberty Garden.

His father sought help from a journalist in Mumbai, who approached Malad police with the teenager’s details.

“The boy’s phone was switched on. At one point, someone else answered his phone and said that he was his friend. He gave us different locations of the teenager,” said sub-inspector Nagnath Bansode of Malad police station.

Investigators checked the boy’s call records and found that he had dug out a film coordinator’s contact number from the internet and had been conversing with him. Police then posed as casting agents and called him for a meeting with Nigam near Infiniti Mall on Saturday. When the boy arrived, the police convinced him to return home. They made a video call to his parents to confirm his safety and then handed him over to his uncle who had come down from Pune.

In a separate incident, a senior citizen was reunited with her kin within hours with some prompt help from a WhatsApp group.

Parvati Salvi, 65, was spotted alone on a street by a passerby and was brought to Malad police station on Sunday. She said she was a farmer from Konkan and had walked all the way to Mumbai. But the police found no blisters on her feet and realised her memory was failing her.

Salvi told the police that she hailed from Guhagar and they decided to cross-check that piece of information. They contacted members of WhatsApp group, ‘Konkan Katta’, and posted Salvi’s photo and details. Members of the group hail from different parts of Konkan.

Within a few hours, the police received a response from someone in Guhagar who gave them Salvi’s current address. The police got through to her family at Kasam Baug in Malad (east) and they took her home.

Sonu Sood extends virtual welcome to Bappa

Akash Bhatnagar (MUMBAI MIRROR; August 11, 2020)

Ganesh Chaturthi is just 11 days away, but the ongoing pandemic has put a damper on the 10-day revelry this year. With the government banning all public gatherings, the festival will be limited to a family affair. However, TV is doing its bit to give Bappa a rapturous welcome, virtually. Star Plus kickstarted celebrations over the weekend at Film City Studios. Star Parivaar Ganeshotsav 2020 will be aired during the festival week.

Sonu Sood, who has become a real hero during the Coronavirus-triggered lockdown, by helping thousands of migrants from across the country and even abroad get back to their homes, is going to host the show. The actor, who shares a special bond with Ganesh, will welcome him with a puja. “There won’t be many Ganpati pandals this year. So, this is the best way to welcome the Lord,” says Sonu, who celebrated the festival for the first time when he had just moved to Mumbai and didn’t know how to serve Ganesha. “I learnt and now we have developed such a bond that he comes to my home every year. He has answered all my prayers and shown me a new path to follow every year.”

Sonu plans his shoots around the 10-day celebrations in a way that he can spend maximum time with Bappa. “My in-laws come to my place during the festival and these 10 days of family time is something we look forward to every year,” he says, insisting that it was Ganesh who gave him the power to help so many people during this crisis. “I have done many movies, but this is the best role I got to play. I want Bappa to help all the people who have suffered during the pandemic and I am sure he will listen to my prayers and make everything right.”

TV actors Surbhi Jyoti and Siddharth Nigam will perform on “Sukhkarta Dukhharta” on the show while Divyanka Tripathi, who bid goodbye to the channel in December last year when her long-running show Yeh Hai Mohabbatein went off the air, returns with a Lavani performance. Shivangi Joshi from Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Rupali Ganguly from Anupamaa and Aditi Sharma from Yehh Jadu Hai Jinn Ka! will send video messages seeking Bappa’s blessings.

Shilpa Shetty will pay tribute to the frontline workers, with a medley of songs, from Lagaan’s “Chale Chalo” and Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl’s “Jazba” to “Shambhu Sutaya” from ABCD - Any Body Can Dance and “Nainowale Ne” from Padmaavat. Harshad Chopda, who featured with Sushant Singh Rajput in the 2008 show, Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil, will remember the late actor by shaking a leg to his popular songs.
