FAST & FURIOUS 7 which looked to be cruising to 100 crore nett may fall a little short now as collections faltered in the third weekend. The third weekend collections were in the 3.25 crore nett range while the first week was 70 crore nett and the second week was 18 crore nett.
The third week is looking at business of 5 crore nett at best which would take it to 93 crore nett after three weeks making it difficult to gross much more. It will miss the nett figure but is the first Hollywood film to gross (gboc) 100 crore. The previous best was the 90 crore of 2012 and FAST & FURIOUS 7 will be at around 120 crore.
Normally its the Hindi version that loses pace but here its the English version which showed drops in week two. The business is simply astounding in Gujarat with the film grossing around 13 crore nett in two weeks leaving the Mumbai/Thane belt well short and normally Hollywood films do more business in Mumbai/Thane. The Hindi version of the film has grossed around 37-38 crore nett till date.

FAST & FURIOUS 7 has become the highest grossing Hollywood film in India with the extended eight day first week business of 69 crore nett. It has beaten the long standing lifetime record of 2012 which was released in 2009 and was the previous record holder in just eight days. The film is looking on course for the first 100 crore nett grosser from Hollywood. It will need to surpass the 20 crore nett mark in week two then it should reach the 100 crore nett mark.
The fact that THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 grossed 42 crore nett last year in its eight day first week tells how huge the record is.

FAST & FURIOUS 7 has become the fifth All Time Blockbuster in India from Hollywood. The film is on course for a first week total of 67-68 crore nett which would make it the highest grosser ever in India from Hollywood.
The first All Time Blockbuster from Hollywood was JURASSIC PARK released in 1994. It was released on 125 screens across India in English and Hindi and grossed around 6.75 crore nett. It was the first film from Hollywood to see such a wide release. 21 years later FAST & FURIOUS 7 has come on 2000 screens
The next All Time Blockbuster was TITANIC in 1998 which was released on just 7 screens on release and was not dubbed but still emerged the second highest grosser of that year after KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI. Then in 2007 came SPIDER-MAN 3 followed by 2012 in 2009 which became the first Hollywood film to cross the 50 crore nett benchmark. The 100 crore nett benchmark is a possibility for FAST & FURIOUS 7 though barring 2012 the big Hollywood openers don't have legs whereas the likes of LIFE OF PI, GRAVITY and INCEPTION continue to go on forever. Still 30 odd crore needed after week one is not a big ask.

DETECTIVE BYOMKESH BAKSHY had a poor weekend as it grossed around 14.25 crore nett. The writing was on the wall on day one as the collections were not high enough for the for a holiday and Saturday remained pretty flat. Sunday was better with 20% growth and business in the 5.50 crore nett range.
The film has a very high ratio of business coming from the high end multiplexes which enabled the film have relatively decent figures at the PVR, DT and Inox chains while other multiplexes were poor. The film released at a limited number of single screens and collections were awful.
-------------------------
FAST & FURIOUS 7 shattered every initial box office record for Hollywood releases in India. It is basically what DHOOM 3 did as far as Hindi films are concerned. The film has collected a huge 48 crore nett over the four day weekend in all languages.
The previous records for Hollywood releases were 7.48 crore nett on day one by THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 (2014). FAST & FURIOUS 7 however went to 12 crore nett. The three day record was THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN (2012) at 24.69 crore nett and FAST & FURIOUS 7 went to 35 crore nett
THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 (2014) also had an extended four day weekend last year and grossed 30.37 crore nett and now FAST & FURIOUS 7 has gone to 48 crore nett. The margin of all records is huge. The film is already the eighth highest grossing Hollywood release in India and the only films above it are the 50 crore nett plus grossers which is a benchmark for Hollywood films. Another record that is has surpassed is the lifetime business of FAST & FURIOUS 6 in just four days, that film had grossed 43 crore nett approx in 2013.

FAST & FURIOUS 7 has smashed all records for a Hollywood releases by a distance. The collections for the English and Hindi versions are around 10.5-11 cr nett and with Tamil and Telugu to come it should take it to the 12 crore nett mark.
The business is phenomenal all over with some circuits recording better figures than THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN and THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 combined together which were the biggest openers before FAST & FURIOUS 7. The business in Delhi/UP was around 2.25 crore nett which is comfortably more than ROY which is the biggest Hindi film opener.
----------------------------
FAST & FURIOUS 7 is on course to be the highest grossing Hollywood film in India as collections continues to stay at a high level despite a slight drop on day two which can be expected due to the huge first day. The film is certain to beat BABY which is the highest grossing Hindi film of 2015 at 82 crore nett and may even have a shot at the 100 crore nett mark.
The film grossed 12 crore nett approx on day one and day two was around 11-11.50 crore nett which means the film should get to at least 45 crore nett (all languages) for the weekend. The first two days being holidays have helped.
FAST & FURIOUS 7 will easily beat the business of 2012 released in 2009 which has held the record for being the highest grossing Hollywood film for almost six years now despite initial business for Hollywood films growing a lot in these years. .
