Evelyn Sharma splits from husband Tushaan Bhindi

Evelyn Sharma splits from husband Tushaan Bhindi

Rishabh Suri (HINDUSTAN TIMES; May 2, 2026)

Actor Evelyn Sharma, last seen in the 2019 film Saaho, is parting ways with her husband, Indo-Australian dental surgeon Tushaan Bhindi, we have exclusively learnt.

Confirming the development, the actor tells us, “Yes, we have decided to go our separate ways romantically but are focused on raising our children together. We would appreciate privacy and assure that this is as amicable as it can be. We are building this new chapter on a lifelong friendship and co-parenting.”

The couple tied the knot in May 2021 in an intimate ceremony in Brisbane, Australia. Evelyn announced her first pregnancy two months later, and the couple now share two children — daughter Ava Rania, 4, and son Arden, 2.

Evelyn was a familiar face in Hindi cinema between 2012 and 2019, featuring in films such as Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), Yaariyaan and Main Tera Hero (both 2014), before stepping away from the screen following her engagement to Tushaan in 2019.

10 Years of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani: My character acted as a catalyst for Bunny’s change of heart-Kunaal Roy Kapur

My character acted as a catalyst for Bunny’s change of heart
Navya Kharbanda (HINDUSTAN TIMES; May 31, 2023)

It’s been a decade since the rom-com Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013) was released. Actor Kunaal Roy Kapur, who played a small yet pivotal role in the Ayan Mukerji-directed film, waxes nostalgic while reminiscing about the fun he had while shooting.

“Its success was one thing, but what you really carry forward are the great memories of making it and spending time with other actors,” he shares.

Talking about his character Taran, the NRI who gets married to Aditi (Kalki Koechlin), the 44-year-old reveals that it wasn’t just a funny cameo. “Taran is a loved character in the sense that Bunny (Ranbir Kapoor) sees something in Taran and Aditi as a couple, and that somehow changes his attitude towards love and his priorities in life. Ayan and I had discussed this at length as to how Taran, sort of, acts as a catalyst for Bunny’s change of heart towards Naina (Deepika Padukone). Perhaps that’s why the character still resonates and is remembered by people,” says the actor.

Among all the iconic scenes, Kapur’s dance sequence with actor Evelyn Sharma is a favourite for the actor. “Evelyn and I had a great time putting that dance together. We were just trying to come up with crazy steps,” he shares. He recounts one of the most difficult scenes — the one where he jumps into a swimming pool to fetch his engagement ring: “It was not easy; the water was really cold, and we shot for that scene at night.”

Ask if he anticipated YJHD to become a cult film, and Kapur admits that no one expected the film to have this kind of longevity. “It has become one of those rom-coms that people like to revisit. Nobody thought that it would connect with the audience, even after so many years. So yes, it definitely took everyone by surprise,” he concludes.

Evelyn says that while Ava is too young to understand that she will soon have a sibling. “But she likes poking my belly button,” laughs Evelyn.

The actress says that she is far more relaxed this time around. “I was extremely anxious during my first pregnancy. I was scared about what was happening to my body and how to protect the baby. This time around I’m a lot more relaxed and distracted since Ava needs my attention. I think the first child is such a shock to the system and your life changes suddenly forever,” she says.

Ask her whether she is prepared to handle two kids, and she says, “Motherhood is a challenge and nothing really prepares you for it. However, it is also very rewarding. Two kids surely mean twice the trouble, but it is also twice the fun!”

Breastfeeding is one of the most natural things you can do. So why be shy about it?-Evelyn Sharma

Titas Chowdhury (HINDUSTAN TIMES; January 25, 2022)

Recently, actor Evelyn Sharma took to social media to share a photo of herself breastfeeding her two-month-old daughter, Ava Bhindi, and discussed how cluster feeding has become a part of her daily routine.

A month ago, she posted a similar image, which, like the current one, drew support. However, both posts were slammed by a few netizens who urged Sharma to keep her private photos off social media. But the 35-year-old says she would rather focus on the positive messages:  “I want to share my journey as a new mother with my friends and fans. It’s important for me to keep my social media personal and not just work-related.”

Dismissing the trolls, the Saaho (2019) actor shares, “Breastfeeding is one of the most natural things you can do. So why be shy about it?”

She hopes that the post will encourage young mothers and even nudge their partners to be more supportive of them. “Breastfeeding is much tougher than people think. It is often physically and mentally exhausting, particularly during cluster feeds. I shared my story to let mums out there know that they aren’t alone in this,” concludes the actor.

For the moment, Evelyn’s taking it slow with things she loves like her hobby of gardening. She says, “Doing slow yoga and pilates at least once a week feels great to stretch your growing body. How Elli AvrRam played Cupid in Evelyn Sharma’s love story

BOMBAY TIMES (June 13, 2021)

Evelyn Sharma met the love of her life Tushaan Bhindi on a blind date set up by their common friend Elli AvrRam. The two, in fact, lived just a street apart in Bandra for several years, but never really got to know each other.

In late 2018, Tushaan completed his work assignments in Mumbai and was ready to relocate to Australia. That was when Elli insisted he go on a blind date with her best friend Evelyn, before he left India. “I never believed in love at first sight until I met Tushaan. We knew that night that we would want to spend our life together,” says Evelyn.

She made the decision to leave behind her original home in Germany and India at the start of the Coronavirus pandemic in March 2020 for life with Tushaan in Australia. “It’s been a big adjustment to move to a whole new country without being able to see your family and friends, but it is all worth it for a life with my soulmate,” Evelyn added.

Commenting on their secret wedding, Elli says, “Since I know both Evelyn and Tushaan, I just had this strong feeling that they would be perfect for each other, a complete power couple! Today, I’m so happy seeing these two beautiful souls being happily married. There’s no better feeling than this! I wish them forever greatness in their journey together.”

Tushaan shared that everyone should have a friend like Elli.

BT Exclusive: Evelyn Sharma weds beau Dr Tushaan Bhindi in Brisbane

Ismat Tahseen (BOMBAY TIMES; June 7, 2021)

Evelyn Sharma tied the knot with fiancé, Dr Tushaan Bhindi, in a gorgeous country-style wedding in Brisbane, Australia on May 15. In an exclusive chat with BT, while talking about the new phase in her life, the Saaho actress said, “There’s no better feeling than being married to your best friend. We’re so excited about spending our life together.”

BT reported that Evelyn had got engaged to Tushaan, an Australian-based dental surgeon in 2019, after he popped the question against a romantic backdrop — the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Back then, the actress had shared a picture of the couple kissing against the charming Sydney skyline on Instagram. This time, too, their special moment seemed picture-perfect as they chose to marry in a scenic countryside location. While Evelyn chose a white vintage lace gown, Tushaan donned a blue suit for the ceremony.

With smaller weddings becoming the norm in Coronavirus times, the couple also opted for a low-key ceremony and plan to have a bigger celebration later. Evelyn, who has films like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Main Tera Hero and Jab Harry Met Sejal to her credit, added, “We started our wedding celebrations with a legal ceremony. Of course, we would have loved for our family and friends from around the world to be present, but we know their blessings are always with us.”

An elated Tushaan added, “We had been engaged for a year-and-half and have been planning to get married ever since, but the lockdown slowed down our plans. In times like this, we did not want to draw a lot of attention to ourselves; we wanted to keep things simple and straightforward. It was time to make our love and commitment official to the world.”

Unfortunately, Evelyn’s mother was unable to attend the country-style wedding in Brisbane. “We hope we will be able to host a big wedding reception, where all our family and friends will celebrate our love with us. For now, we are grateful for their good wishes and blessings as we pray for a better time ahead for our homeland India,” said the couple, who have been busy setting up their new home in the Australian countryside. Last year, they even adopted a puppy, Coco.

Ismat Tahseen (BOMBAY TIMES; March 18, 2020)

Like everyone else, actress Evelyn Sharma, too, has been forced to put her travel plans on hold, following the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak. Apart from cancelling work commitments, she has also not been able to meet her Australia-based fiancé, Tushaan Bhindi, for a while now. Evelyn tells us, “It’s been a while since I met Tushaan and I miss him a lot. I wish I could be with him, right now. The entire world is facing a crisis and during times like these, you would rather be with your family and loved ones.”

She adds, “It’s scary to see the way the virus is spreading. It is also hard to understand what is going on, as so much false information is doing the rounds. We understand that hygiene is key, but many people don’t follow even basic guidelines. They aren’t taking things seriously enough.”

Evelyn has also had to cancel a few performances. She shares, “Work is also affected, especially with events being cancelled. I was supposed to perform at some weddings in Gujarat and Rajasthan. I was also supposed to travel to Germany for my shoot, but I have cancelled that too, now.”

Ismat Tahseen (BOMBAY TIMES; October 8, 2019)

Actress Evelyn Sharma, who has been dating Australian dental surgeon and entrepreneur, Dr Tushaan Bhindi, for over a year now, got engaged to him on Saturday. It was quite romantic, we hear, as he proposed to her on the famous Harbour Bridge in Sydney. Speaking to Bombay Times exclusively, Evelyn revealed, “It was a dream come true! Tushaan knows me so well… his proposal was perfect!”

Sharing details about their love story, she said, “We met on a blind date last year, which was set up by our good friend. Tushaan is a romantic guy and he’s even more filmy than I am,” she smiles.

The couple got along instantly with their shared passion for philanthropic causes. Friends of the two say it was love at first sight and that they were anticipating the big announcement to happen soon. But the couple decided to introduce each other to their respective families first to get their blessings, and then, move ahead with the engagement during Navratri, as it is an auspicious time.

When asked if they have set a date for the wedding, she replies, “We will make a separate announcement for that once the date is set. For now, we would like to enjoy our time together.” Once that happens, will Evelyn shift to Australia? “I would love to shift base to Australia. Sydney is one of my favourite cities in the world, but we will always have one base in India, too. It is our home after all,” says the overjoyed actress.

Evelyn Sharma shocked by fan during Saaho shoot

BOMBAY TIMES (February 24, 2019)

Things got a little too uncomfortable for Evelyn Sharma during the shoot of Saaho, which also features Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead. After a long day of shoot with co-star Neil Nitin Mukesh, where both actors were shooting intense action sequences, Evelyn decided to call it a day and left the set of the film. She headed to her hotel, which was also located in Ramoji Film City. That’s when things got weird for the Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani actress. A fan spotted her leaving the set and figured out which hotel she was staying at. He made his way to the hotel lobby and waited for hours to catch a glimpse of Evelyn. The incident didn’t end there; the fan also managed to figure out the actress’ room number and landed up on her floor catching her unawares when she was heading to her room.

Taken aback by the fan’s invasive presence, Evelyn reached out to her manager who saved the day with quick thinking. They called for the hotel staff who respectfully escorted the fan out of the premises. Recalling the incident, Evelyn says, “It’s really nice when your fans come to meet you, but sometimes it gets scary when they do show up at the wrong time. I don’t mean to be hostile, I love my fans and I look forward to spending time with them, but sometimes I just feel it becomes overwhelming when they wait under the apartment or hotel building for hours on end. That can be a scary scenario.”

On the work front, Evelyn is looking forward to her special song in an upcoming Bollywood film and she’s also just shot for her first international show in Berlin.

AbRam is such a well-mannered, well-raised little boy-Evelyn Sharma

Renuka Vyavahare (BOMBAY TIMES; July 31, 2017)

Evelyn Sharma will be seen in a cameo in Imtiaz Ali's Jab Harry Met Sejal (JHMS). The actress, ecstatic to be associated with a much-awaited film that stars Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma, got to speak her mother tongue (German) in a Hindi film for the first time.

She reveals, “Even if it's a two-minute role, I'm thrilled to have worked with Shah Rukh sir and Imtiaz. I grew up in Germany, near Frankfurt. Life came a full circle when I got a chance to speak my mother tongue in JHMS. I had an opportunity to be myself.“

What makes Evelyn's role even more special is the way she bagged it. The actress had never met Imtiaz before they met on a flight to Udaipur. “We got talking and he mentioned how Ranbir Kapoor (who happens to be his friend) appreciated my work in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Imtiaz was also penning the script of JHMS on the plane. When he learnt that I could speak German fluently, he asked me if I could help him with a few lines in German (SRK speaks the lines in the film as a tourist guide). I was happy to help. A week after this, I was delighted to get an opportunity to be in the film for a cameo,“ she recalls with a smile.

Evelyn also became a fan of Shah Rukh's toddler AbRam while shooting for this film. “I love children and AbRam is such a well-mannered, well-raised little boy,“ she says, adding, “He is as adorable and talkative as his father.“

When someone as brilliant as Imtiaz Ali asks you to be in his film, you just say yes-Evelyn Sharma

Renuka Vyavahare (BOMBAY TIMES; December 27, 2016)

German-Indian model turned actress Evelyn Sharma is on cloud nine. The sexy siren will be seen in Imtiaz Ali's The Ring starring Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma, as well as in a lead role in a romcom co-starring Amit Sadh. Her charity foundation Seams For Dreams, formed to provide clothes to the underprivileged as well as auction designer-wear by celebs is an unique initiative. “Common people too can contribute by donating clothes or by participating in the auctions“, she explains.

Having completed six years in Bollywood and calling Mumbai her home, Evelyn feels blessed to have bagged roles in big banners .Excited about her next with SRK, she reveals, “I've been raised in Germany and Bollywood means Shah Rukh Khan for us. We only know him and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan there. So my dream of working with him has come true. Also when someone as brilliant as Imtiaz Ali asks you to be in his film, you just say yes.“

Reminiscing her journey , she says, “It hasn't been easy. My mother's German and father's a Punjabi (Indian). This made me feel like an outsider as Germans thought I looked Spanish or Mexican and Indians believe I look like a foreigner. I had to learn Hindi and interestingly, after coming to India, I found myself.“

Speaking of looks, Evelyn clarifies that pretty girls don't have it easy in show business unlike the common assumption. “It's about being in the right place at the right time and knowing your job. Looking great is not enough. I've auditioned several times for roles.“ Finally, ask her about working with Ranbir Kapoor (Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani) and now SRK and she gushes, “I was smitten by Ranbir. He is a new-age charmer. He exudes this sexy, young, bad boy vibe, while SRK is truly charming as he is a thorough gentleman.“

Valentine's Day special: Celebs recall their first date

BOMBAY TIMES (February 13, 2016)

SUNNY LEONE
I don't really believe that we need one particular day to celebrate love. If you are in love, then you can celebrate it 365 days a year. But if there is something that specifically makes you take out time to celebrate with your loved one, then you should go ahead and do all it takes to make it special. My first date wasn't that special. We just went out for dinner and went back to our respective homes.

ELLI AVRAM
Love for me is something magical and deep which you cannot define. My first Valentine gift was for my father. I was six years old. I had painted a big red heart on a paper and stuck a currency note in the middle of it as my contribution for his dream car. I had saved that money and until today I keep telling him one day I'll gift him a pink old school Cadillac.

GURMEET CHOUDHARY
Valentine's Day is always special. My wife Debina makes it a point to make this day unique. The best celebration has been the year when I proposed her as somewhere I everything fell in place and things were perfect and beautiful. My first date with my wife was at her place. It wasn't anything formal as we knew we liked each other. We also had some common friends along with us.

KARTIK AARYAN
Contrary to the image my monologue in my film, Pyar Ka Punchnama has created, I am a diehard romantic and believe in love. My first date was at 15. I had borrowed money from my friends because I wanted to buy all the favourite things for her. She loved bike rides so I had hired a scooter as well. We went to watch a Shah Rukh Khan film.

PURAB KOHLI
Love is to be able to let someone express their honest self, accepting them for who they are. My first date was an auto rickshaw ride. We were just 15 and we roamed the entire Bandra. Looking back, I laugh over on that incident, but it was truly a moment that I will cherish for my life.

EVELYN SHARMA
Valentine's Day for me is about spreading love. It need not necessarily be with someone special in your life, but can be anyone who is close to your heart. My first date was very weird. I must have been around 15. My mother wouldn't allow me to go on a date so we would meet in the library to study.

NORA FATEHI
Being in love is always a special feeling. I went on my first date when I was 19. My boyfriend brought me flowers and chocolate and later took me to a posh restaurant for dinner in his beautiful car. It was a perfect date as he made me feel like a princess.

Evelyn Sharma all set to adopt a new avatar on screen

Eepsita Guha (BOMBAY TIMES; December 8, 2014)

After displaying her comic side in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and showing off her moves in the popular number Sunny Sunny from Yaariyan, Evelyn Sharma is now looking forward to her releases next year.

Meanwhile, the latter is a musical love story that has her paired opposite Mithun Chakraborty's son Mahaakshay. Evelyn plays a small town girl from Himachal Pradesh and will be seen in a desi avatar.
