BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2 had an excellent first week as it grossed 90 crore nett plus. The hold for the film were fantastic over the weekdays though some mass pockets did see drops on Wednesday and Thursday. But this was bound to happen as Monday and Tuesday levels were similar to Friday.

The film has seen very good collections all over with South being the underperformer though this is the normal for a Hindi mass comedy. The other underperformer is normally East but here the horror factor in the film has worked in its favour there especially in West Bengal as that genre has more takers in that part of the country.

The film is likely to cross the business of SONU KE TITU KI SWEETY on Saturday to become the highest grosser for Kartik Aaryan. However, its not really about that but more about can it get over the 150 crore nett mark and for that it will probably need a 40 crore nett second week which is possible.

BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2 had another solid day as it collected 8.25 crore nett taking its total to 83 crore nett. The trend remains strong over the weekdays as these are minimal drops with good collections. The Hindi circuits remain strong although there was a bigger drop here on Wednesday. But that had to happen as on Monday and Tuesday, the collections were more or less on par with Friday.

The first week is looking at a 90.50 crore nett total but its the second week where the film can really score well. SOORYAVANSHI collected 45 crore nett in its second week and that is the best second week for an original Hindi film and if BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2 can get a good hold on Friday, it will have a chance to challenge that number.

The lifetime number is dependent on where the Friday lands.

BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2 continued to show excellent trending on the weekdays as it grossed 9.50 crore nett on Tuesday to take its overall total to almost 75 crore nett. The holds in mass markets were much better than the overall total suggests as again Gujarat/Saurashtra and CI hardly saw any drops and collections in these places are pretty much close to the Friday levels.

The film has managed to collect more than GANGUBAI KATHIAWADI on the Tuesday which collected 9.3 crore nett and that was due to a holiday for Mahashivratri while here 9.50 crore nett has come on a normal day. BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2 is also beating the SOORYAVANSHI in some circuits over the weekdays and it is most likely that it will beat lifetime numbers of that film in some circuits. Mumbai and South it will not but many of the others are a possibility.  

The first week is probably heading for a 91 crore nett first week total In India and after a good weekend in overseas, it is holding well in overseas also putting it on course for a possible $5 million lifetime total which is huge for this cast.

BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2 saw an excellent hold on Monday as it collected almost 11 crore nett taking its total to 65 crore nett plus for four days. The drop is just 20% from Friday and mass centres have shown an even smaller drop with many places being pretty much similar. 

The drop in business is mainly in Mumbai city, Delhi city, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Bangalore and the likes as some of these places are down 30% plus and this is because most of the cinemas in these pockets have a ticket price drop. Also comparatively, the performance in these places was not as strong as the likes of Indore, Jaipur, Lucknow or Surat over the weekend.

The story of the film is the A centres of the Hindi belts which are simply phenomenal. Despite the all India collections on Monday being less than SOORYAVANSHI, there are going to be some circuits which are ahead of the Akshay Kumar starrer and shockingly it will be mass circuits.

The Monday ensures that the film will be a superhit and it could even emerge a BLOCKBUSTER film depending how it unfolds after the first week. The first week of the film should be in the 90 crore nett range.

BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2 has scored very well in Overseas as well with collections coming in the $2.2 million range which is double the previous best of Kartik Aaryan which was LUKA CHUPPI at $1.13 million. The film was sold for a 4 cr MG overseas and has notched up a share of around 7 crore over the first weekend itself.

The film scored best in USA/Canada with a solid $800k followed by Gulf which was $675k. The Gulf number is better than GANGUBAI KATHIAWADI though that did not release in some of the markets in Gulf.

The worldwide number for the film 83 crore with 66 crore (54.50 crore nett) coming from India and 17 crore coming from overseas. SOORYAVANSHI was 118 crore weekend worldwide while GANGUBAI KATHIAWADI was 65.50 crore making BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2 second best for outright Hindi films post the pandemic.

BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2 collected an excellent 54.50 crore nett in its first weekend with a super solid trend across the country over the weekend. The opening was generally good on day one and the places which underperformed came on board either on the second day or the third day. The collections on Sunday were fantastic in mass pockets

The opening weekend is easily the highest for Kartik Aaryan as it scores well above the 32-33 crore nett weekend numbers of PATI PATNI AUR WOH (2019) and LUKA CHUPPI (2019). In fact, not only the weekend but BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2 has even crossed the first week business of these films.

The business is good in all circuits but comparatively the best markets are probably CI and West Bengal with the South circuits being a bit less as these mass Hindi comedies have a lesser market there and that includes franchise films like GOLMAAL, HOUSEFULL and DHAMAAL.

The film should emerge a HIT as Monday had some advance which is a good sign but the question will be how good can it be and it can it really sustain well over the next few weeks for a big lifetime number.

BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2 recorded another excellent day on Saturday as it collected 18 crore nett taking its two day total to 31.50 crore nett. The all India growth for the film was 35% but there were areas which grew much more than that. The growth in places like Mumbai city and Bangalore was more around the 50% mark with the latter being even more. This was because these places were a bit low comparatively to other cities on Friday. Delhi NCR and East Punjab also saw fantastic growth.

The biggest plus for the film is that the Hindi belt showed good growth on Saturday and that was coming off very good opening day numbers. CI is simply fantastic and leading the way for the film as it went jumped almost 35% on Saturday to 77 lakhs and in CP Berar, there were single screens going up from Friday which does not happen much on a Saturday and that circuit also jumped well on Saturday.

The overall growth is 35% which is great but the underlying trend in various pockets is stronger than the growth suggests which all goes well for the film post the weekend. The film will emerge a HIT but it is a wait for Monday to confirm this and when that happens it will put the director Anees Bazmee up there with the greats as far as longevity is concerned.

Longevity is basically the time between your first HIT and last HIT. The first HIT of Anees Bazmee was in 1998 with PYAAR TO HONA HI THA and now it will be BHOOL BHULAIYAA 2 24 years later. The last director to achieve something similar was David Dhawan whose first HIT was in 1992 with SHOLA AUR SHABNAM and then JUDWAA 2 came 25 years later.

The all time greats like Manmohan Desai and Raj Khosla had 25 and 24 years respectively between their first and last hits and the greatest of them all Raj Kapoor had 36 years between the last and first. There may well be other names also but the record books have to be checked and that is for another day.
