Following reports suggesting that the shoot of The Royals Season 2 hit a roadblock in Jaisalmer after director Jasmeet K Reen allegedly walked out of the Netflix show. When we reached out to the producer Rangita Pritish Nandy, she and Keen clarified with Mumbai Mirror that the rumours are untrue.

"Jasmeet has contributed immensely to the project. These rumours are untrue This was a mutual decision between Jasmeet and Pritish Nandy Communications. For now, the production house will continue as planned without Jasmeet," the two said in a joint statement.

When asked about the reports suggesting that she screamed at Jasmeet on set, Rangita maintained silence and both refused to speak any further about the matter. The clarification comes a day after a report claimed that Reen (director of Alia Bhatt's film Darlings), who had come on board to direct the second season, exited midway through the shoot, following an alleged altercation with Rangita. The report also suggested that the Jaisalmer schedule had since been stalled.

On September 18, principal photography for the second season of The Royals commenced. Reen, best known for directing Darlings, had been brought on board for the second season alongside Nitya Mehra. The new season sees Ishaan Khatter return as Prince Aviraaj Singh, with Sini Shetty and Gurfateh Pirzada joining the cast. Nora Fatehi is also set to return.

The second season has already seen a few significant changes, both in front of and behind the camera. The first season, which premiered in May 2025, was directed by Priyanka Ghose and Nupur Asthana. While Bhumi Pednekar, who played Sophia Shekhar opposite Ishaan Khatter’s Aviraaj Singh in the first season, will not return for the second chapter, Sini Shetty has joined the cast as the new female lead. Reports at the time attributed Bhumi’s exit to a creative overhaul, with the second season shifting focus from the central romance towards the dynamics of the royal family.
