Poonam Sinha recently revisited her modelling days after nearly 45 years, walking the ramp for a charity event focused on empowering the girl child and advocating equality, education, and respect. The moment was made even more special as she was joined on the runway by her son, Luv Sinha.
Recalling her return to the ramp, she says, “Sometime ago, I walked the ramp for a friend at a school bonsai exhibition. It was a very intimate, small event, and I guess that’s how it started again. I began modelling and walking the ramp when I was 14. It was a journey followed by beauty contests, after which I never looked back. I quit modelling after some years, but I didn’t miss it because by then I had moved on to films.”
She continues, “Uske baad Mr Sinha walked into my life. My life and my perspective changed after I got married. My Luv and Kush came along and, of course, meri jo bitiya rani aa gayi woh toh icing on the cake thi. So, the family felt complete with her arrival. It has been 45 years since I last walked the ramp. I was quite surprised to realize that I am still as confident as I was in the beginning.”
Speaking about sharing the moment with her son, she shares, “This walk felt ethereal because my son accompanied me. I had to ask Luv if he would walk with me, and more than me, he was thrilled to do it and be part of such a meaningful cause. I was very happy with the warm welcome I received. It was such a wonderful feeling ki dekho kitne confidence ke saath mera beta mera haath pakad kar chal raha hai. He hadn’t walked the ramp before, but he carried himself like a natural. It was a truly wonderful experience, walking alongside my son.”
