PARAM SUNDARI saw a pretty good first day collection of 6.75-7 crore nett as it scored well in Delhi/UP and the circuits of South India. The film looks to be a hit a little in Mumbai circuit maybe due to the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities as this circuit should have done more especially going by the ratios of a film like 2 STATES which was a similar cultural cross over romance.

The southern feel of the film also should have give more potential in a Mumbai than the North but this is not showing in collections so there is potential for Mumbai to jump better than other places. Overall the film has got a decent number up on the board and it gives the film a chance to succeed and that is most IMPORTANT in todays environment as so many films just don't give themselves a chance on the very first day and recent examples of that are SON OF SARDAAR 2, DHADAK 2 and even WAR 2.

The advantage of a film like PARAM SUNDARI is the music. The soundtrack may not be a massive hit but just a by having some good to decent songs gives the film a feel of an entertainer which has attracted an audience and now its down to the film to go on from here. The film will get some decent growth on Saturday but everything goes down to what happens on Monday.

The slight negative is that south feel rather than the Hindi belt feel that many of the films from Maddock have had in recent times but this has given collections in the South a boost initially as all the Southern circuits give good collections and outperform. But for the longer run you would want the Hindi belts to be out performing too. It is the collections in the South which has taken the film past the opening day collections of TERI BAATON MEIN AISA ULJHA JIYA.

PARAM SUNDARI did fair business in its first week as it closed with a 37 crore nett though collections did come to lower levels on the last two days of the week which has become par for the course after the discounted Tuesday. Its sadly not a good idea as weekday business is lower now with all the days being hit apart from Tuesday unless the film itself stands apart.

The film has to continue these fair collections into the second week to emerge a success but it is been hit hard with showcasing on its second Friday as there are two new Hindi releases with BAAGHI 4 and THE BENGAL FILES and also Hollywood release THE CONJURING: LAST RITES with the latter taking a fantastic opening.

There is the Eid holiday to boost collections on Friday but this also means that the growth on Saturday will not be as high as normal. It is that middling film where reports are just about okay and in this case it needed lesser competition to pull through. Now it remains to be seen where the second weekend come in.

PARAM SUNDARI collected 1.75 crore nett on its second Friday and there is a drop of business from the previous day. But there were multiple releases and the film had a huge reduction in showcasing and in that regard, the film has still managed to get an okayish number in.

The issue is that it was a holiday for Eid in some states and if this number had come without the holiday, it would have been better and pretty decent. Now its down to the growth on Saturday which may not be like the regular Saturday due to the holiday factor.

The film has had offers on various days in its run and those remain this weekend but even those can only really help when the public actually want to see a film. The total collections of the film are now almost 39 crore nett and it remains to be seen where it goes from here. In a best case scenario, the film can be an AVERAGE fare from here but it has some work to do for that over the next 10-12 days or so.
