PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE (Hindi) collected a huge 15 crore nett on its second Wednesday which now takes the film to 553 crore nett and it will cross the numbers of JAWAN which is the second biggest Hindi grosser. STREE 2, which is at the top, will be done by the close of business on Saturday. It will take the film just 17 days to become the highest grosser and there will be the Xmas and New Year period to come.

The period will mean more records being broken over the Christmas and New Year weeks and this means that its very likely that PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE will be setting new highs in week three and four. These third and fourth week records will be coming when already it is the highest grossing film which easily makes its the biggest blockbuster post pandemic. The footfalls of the film in Hindi are also heading towards the 4 crore mark and it will have the highest footfalls since BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONLCUSION.

GADAR (2001), BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONLCUSION (2017) and now PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE are the three legendary films this century now and stand above the others. Two of them are dubbed films from the South and this has never happened before in history as most of the legendary films are from the Hindi film industry. The only other film from the South which reached this elevated status was CHANDRALEKHA way back in 1948.

PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE is on the verge of a history double century in Mumbai circuit and has hit that mark today as it stood at 199 crore nett apprx at the end of business on Wednesday. Basically the film will have done 200 crore nett in two weeks and there is much more to come and it could be a 250 crore nett finish for the film.

The best for an original Hindi film is 158 crore nett of STREE 2 and it is because of this circuit that it will be a dream for an original Hindi film to beat the Hindi collections of PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE for some time. The sort of cinema coming from the Hindi film industry at the moment means even 200 crore nett is out of reach in Mumbai let alone wherever the final numbers of PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE reach.

This is a circuit where it will be films from the South which can challenge records in the present time and it has taken PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE to beat BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONLCUSION and this trend is likely to remain. It is the biggest circuit for films in Hindi and record numbers here make it easier to set all India records. The importance is such that PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE can smash the all India record by a margin despite limited South collections and that is mainly because Mumbai is so huge. Both Maharashtra and Gujarat have seen unbelievable numbers.

There are many huge Hindi films set to release in the next couple of years and expected to put up huge numbers but the problem will remain in Mumbai circuit and if one or two of these are able to BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONLCUSION that itself will also be a feat. This is a result of the cinema in the decade before the pandemic which had limited mass appeal and now with the change in audience profile, this appeal has to be another level and this is a tough ask for writers and makers in Hindi cinema at present but there is always hope.

PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE (Hindi) set more records on the third Friday as it collected a record 10.50 crore nett apprx on its third Friday. This is the highest third Friday of all time just edging past the 10.10 crore nett of BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONLCUSION. These are the only two films that have gone into double digits on the third Friday and both are dubbed films.

The highest third Friday for an original Hindi is the 9 crore nett of STREE 2. This third Friday sets up PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE for another record weekend and the harder part is getting the week record with business being more weekend lopsided compared to the time of BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONLCUSION. But here, PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE will have the Christmas holiday factor in play which will mean the highest third week of all time. 

The film continues with incredible business all over. There is a slight under performance in the North if we compare with the business in West and Central India but even then, North India can hit ALL TIME RECORDS. Its just that the margins will be limited if it manages to do. This Friday saw the release of MUFASA: THE LION KING and VANVAAS but the film remain pretty much unaffected. On Wednesday, it will be the release of BABY JOHN and again this film will remain unstoppable.

There have been some huge BLOCKBUSTERS in the last few years with KGF - CHAPTER 2, PATHAAN, GADAR 2, JAWAN, ANIMAL and STREE 2. But PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE is a level above and clearly the third biggest BLOCKBUSTER this century after GADAR (2001) and BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONLCUSION. The 700 crore nett benchmark is on for the film and if it runs through January which is very much possible, it will easily cross 700 crore nett.

PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE has smashed the second week record by a huge margin as it collects 178.25 crore. It has gone through the 150 crore nett mark as well as the 175 crore nett and this is when only seven other films have managed to hit 100 crore nett. There is no other film above 150 crore nett.

The BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONLCUSION record collection for the second week stood for 7 years and it will take a huge achievement by any film to break this PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE record in the next few years no matter how big the film is. In fact the best after BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONLCUSION were smaller films like STREE 2 and GADAR 2. The second week tends to define the final outcome of the box office and now the top two films are dubbed films from the South and it will be no surprise if more are added in the next decade. As mentioned yesterday, until the big original Hindi films can compete with the big South films in Mumbai circuit, it becomes very difficult to put up the highest numbers.

There is NO domination of dubbed South films in the all India market as generally week in week out they will bite the dust. Around Diwali there were films like AMARAN and LUCKY BHASKAR that did well in there local areas but were washed out in Hindi and this will be the case with 99% of the dubbed films as they hold no appeal whatsoever. But there will some films with a certain feel and look and characterization which at the moment is not possible from the Hindi film industry and those will blow the box office away. These will be few and far between but will be there until the audience tastes or audience profile change but that will not be for sometime.

PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE (Hindi) had a huge third Saturday of 18 crore nett again smashing all records and while doing so became the highest grosser in Hindi as it went past the numbers of STREE 2 which were set just a few months back. The film stands at a huge 594 crore nett in seventeen days and today it will hit another milestone as it becomes the first film to hit the 600 crore nett mark.

The film will have 600 crore nett up on the board and then the Christmas and New Year period will start which is going to benefit the film hugely. It may well be flirting with the 700 crore nett mark when this holiday period is over. The numbers continue to be mindboggling all over especially core Hindi speaking belts.

The film is now looking at a 100 crore nett finish in Gujarat/Saurashtra which is an unbelievable feat as there are only 14 films including PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE itself which have done 100 crore nett in the whole Mumbai circuit and here this film is doing 100 crore nett in just the Gujarat/Saurashtra side of the circuit. Pre pandemic no film, apart from BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONLCUSION, had crossed 50 crore nett in Gujarat. 

The year has ended on high with PUSHPA 2 - THE RULE and there was another record grosser with STREE 2 but despite these two films its still been a very bad year overall with very few bright spots.
