Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video is directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa of Dream Girl fame. He's one of the few directors who can make David Dhawan-style comedies. Due to these factors, one can't help but expect from his latest film. It has a promising story and he has peppered the narrative with some bizarre characters and funny situations. Yet, the impact is not generated. Despite the funny scenes, the overall humour is limited and some jokes don't land well. The emotional track doesn't work and some characters are forgotten after a point. The climax and VFX are tacky. Lastly, a 10 minute scene is forced into the film. This is where the film goes off track and also off genre; viewers will get a feeling that it has been added to cash in on a recent hit film. Speaking of performances, Rajkummar Rao, as always, puts in a very sincere effort and showcases his comic timing. Triptii Dimri gets overpowered after a point but leaves a mark in some crucial sequences. Vijay Raaz is the best thing about the film. Mallika Sherawat looks stunning and nicely adds to the madness. Tiku Talsania is decent while Rakesh Bedi and Archana Puran Singh get limited scope. Mast Ali (Baadshah) is a great find. Ashwini Kalsekar is wasted. But the actors playing Suniel and Shetty are hilarious. Manjot Singh is dependable. Shehnaaz Gill adds to the glam quotient. All in all, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video fails to entertain.
