Tumbbad movie review Aanand L. Rai Sohum Shah
Box Office India Trade Network

TUMBBAD has done well on its second run post original release in 2018. The second Monday drop is only 60% from Sunday and that's the best measurement as Friday was National Cinema Day. The film had collected 12 crore nett in its original run and in its second run it stands at around 21 crore nett and could do a second run of around 35 crore nett which means total lifetime collections near the 50 crore nett mark.

TUMBBAD is the first re-release film to really do a major number since god knows when. Earlier when reviving old hits was in, it was more territory-centric depending on the demand. Flop and average films sometimes did as much and sometimes more than the original run but satellite killed re-releases.

TUMBBAD has been released differently from the other re-releases and more like a new release with a good promotional spend and good release. The spend probably came because the makers wanted to make a sequel or something and success with a revival could get an investor or studio on board. It has worked and and the film has done very well though its questionable as it's not broken out into the masses. This is a question only a sequel can answer if it comes. It is a bit more all rounded than the 2018 release but still predominantly Mumbai circuit.
